Aston Villa travel to Everton today and both clubs didn’t bring in any new players in yesterdays transfer deadline day. Despite that both teams have brought in two new players. Everton signing McGeady and Troare on loan from Monaco. Meanwhile Villa brought in Ryan Bertrand and Grant Holt on loan. Everton may have done the better business signing more calibre players, but it’s Aston Villa who have the better League form as of late. Everton tied against West Brom a fortnight ago and most recently lost to Liverpool 4-0. They’ve also lost a few of their best players through injury, Lukaku, Oviedo and Coleman are all out injured.
Aston Villa’s form has been mainly down to a change of formation, Lambert has outed to played a 4-3-1-2 formation with Weimann or Bacuna playing the centre-forward/attacking midfielder role. With Villa failing to attract an attacking midfielder to Villa, Bacuna and Weimann may be the players to fill that role.
Gareth Barry may play against his former club today. Barry made over 365 appearances for Aston Villa from 1998 to 2009 scoring 41 goals. In 2009 he moved to Manchester City for a transfer fee of £12 million.
Team News:
This might be the perfect time to face Everton. Romelu Lukaku is ruled out following an injury sustained against Liverpool last Tuesday. On-loan forward Lacina Traore is still 10 days away from being fit. Everton will also be without two key defenders, Seamus Coleman, Sylvian Distin are all ruled out with a hamstring injury. While Gerard Deulofeu is also out with a hamstring injury.
Aston Villa’s only fitness concern is Gabby Agbonlahor who sustained a foot injury against Liverpool. He will be given a late fitness test.

Match Prediction:
Everton 1-1 Aston Villa
I think Aston Villa could nick a draw today. Everton haven’t been playing to well, I’ve watched their last recent games and they’re missing Coleman a lot. Everton’s defence also stands out because it’s not nearly as strong as it has been all season. Alcaraz was torn apart by Sturridge. I reckon Villa would have a greater chance of a victory if Agbonlahor was partnered with Benteke because the defence wouldn’t be able to deal with that. Weimann and Mirallas to scored. But for some reason, I don’t think this game will be too entertaining.
Fuck off Lerner, the Villa is OURS….lets have some fucking money to spend you lying ignorant fuckwit!
We set out to defend with no real ambition of trying to score and we failed. The goal was a good one but there’s no point swapping defence for attack so late in the match. Yes, we missed Gabby but I’d still rather see us set up to at least try to attack.
What’s the mumbling prick be spouting post match probably the usual bollox he’s proud of the lads & our performance.what fucking tosh he mumbles.
I imagine we’ll pick ourselves up and go again. I’ll shortly be picking myself up and going to the pub, it’s the only answer.
West Ham next. Time for our annual 8-0 drubbing, a 4-4 draw or will we fluke a 1-0 on 20% possession? Who knows. Let’s hope Gabby gets back as soon as possible and Vlaar isn’t actually injured.
Too right foxy fuck it off to get slaughtered.
At least we won’t go down 🙂
The boys did well and next week we go again
Apparently he said its because we only had 2 day break. He Shoukd be sacked asap
WHy were we so negavtive today?? After 2 decent performances. I think Lambert may be bi-polar!!
Everton taotally dominated possession and deseved the win. Just like the game at Southampton. We never looked threatening up front. And why did Grant Holt start…he offers nothing!!
Whats more worrying is ending the game with Tonev, El Ahmadi, Baker and Clark on the field. None of these players are good enough and the transfer window has now passed.
I thought Lambert had finally figured out how we play best, but then he goes and does that. Very frustrating, but Im sure he’ll mumble some excuse to the media and we’ll carry on.
We have to go back to 4 at the back next week and play positive, possession football…and no Grant Holt!!
Holt for me is the replacement for Benteke if something goes wrong. He doesn’t appear to have the legs for counter attack football, hence my reasoning for starting Albrighton on the right. Holt isn’t Gabby’s replacement, but then neither is Tonev. What we need is a young winger on the left, someone with pace, goals, some Championship experience maybe…
Okore could be back next month.
Just one thing, is Carroll out of the match next week and didn’t West Ham sell their other striker yesterday?
Carrol out thankfully or we’d be fucked
And if it is Vlaar’s hamstring then we can’t defend with only one decent defender (the one on loan) so we’ll have to attack. Having said that they’ll play six in midfield, so we’ll get slaughtered there. Possibly the only game all season where the long ball is the only possible tactic!
Was vlaar injured then.
Apparently he ran off the pitch so no?
Surely the only answer to this has to be match fixing?
I don’t want to start slagging off but its so difficult to fathom, two good performances then it’s straight back to square one.
Bws we’re too hit & miss imo,we’re lacking consistency for sure.i think as it stands we’re a mid table team at best.
That stones was misplacing passes all first half and never looked comfy so Why didn’t we exploit that area like teams do us when Luna plays, or Bennett before him!!!
Wish Lambert would for once admit he made a mistake instead of saying “We looked comfortable for 70mins” ….. What fecking game did he watch??
Ah well….. Onwards and…….errrr……Onwards
Lambert said we lost thru fatigue Ffs. Same for both teams. Only 29% possesion lamberk out
