Aston Villa haven’t won a game since January, which was a thrilling 4-3 win against West Brom. Now, Villa haven’t scored in three games. Unfortunately these results do more than put pressure on the manager and the players. It also puts pressure on fan’s interest of the club. More and more Villa fans are starting to admit that they are losing interest in Aston Villa, and aren’t looking forward to Villa’s next games as much. The reason why I’m writing this is because I fall into this category. I used to love Saturday/Sunday football, especially if Aston Villa where playing. Today, I don’t have confidence in the team. Going into every game I don’t believe that the team can get a result, let alone a goal!
If this was solely my opinion, I wouldn’t rant on about it. But this thought is growing among the Villa fans. Obviously current form and Villa’s inability to beat teams around us is a massive problem. However, you can’t rule out uninspiring January transfer market. Lambert hasn’t really excited the fans with any of his January signings and as a result, we ultimately see the same starting 11 play the exact same type of football week in and week out.
Just because fans are losing interest doesn’t mean that Villa can’t re-capture that interest. Paul Lambert will have the re-shuffle his side and perhaps play a different sort of football. Results are everything these days, and a couple of wins or goals in the next few games could be enough to, at the very least re-capture my interest.
I hope that Lambert can take the examples set by Europe’s greatest managers. In this part of the season, some players will tire and become uninspiring. Lambert has to be brave and drop some of his more favorable players and give the likes of Gardner, Albrighton, Helenius a chance. It might be the only way to re-fresh our current squad and give life back into the fans.
100% yes there is only so much you can take when your paying a hefty price for the privelage of watching the shit we are dished up with !
I thought I was one of the few that thought this way!
But I do feel particularly bad for those who have paid to go to Villa park and have only witnessed 3 wins. That’s just not good enough
I agree. I’m honestly thinking about giving up my season ticket this year. I have many other interests in my life.
20 years me a season ticket holder and I feel exactly the same, I’m gutted what’s happening to our club
There is no excitement or ambition or chance of achieving anything, yet prices are sky high.
No point bothering any more, the players and management are multi millionaires who laugh at people who spend their hard earned cash on season tickets, etc. My advice, spend your money on other interests, I found it so much more rewarding.
I mostly watch the games on TV or on the internet. But if I lived in England I would try to avoid going to Villa park until Lambert and Villa sort out the home form
I don’t post much on here but today I wish to say that I shall not be returning to villa this season or next. The football is dire, the players seem like they are not bothered and lambert (IMO) is clueless. The club as a whole needs adressing from the ever absent chairman down to the waste of our hard earned money playing staff. Someone connected to the club needs to make our board aware the fans are pissed off with being subjected to shite football and even shiter management decisions. They cannot expect us to keep putting up with it.
So therefore there shall be 2 seats available in in the upper holt b4
Why lambert is in charge i refuse to pay good money to watch shite plain & simple.
Giddy…careful what you say mate, I might be offended.
We will NOT be relegated…..can I be sued for saying that? 🙂
Langford mate I’m … well do I believe what’s going on I don’t know, let’s put it like this Lambert could sue me for things I’ve said, and what others have, including you know who, sorry to say at sixty eight he’s up the wall picking pineapples, gone loopy Lou. He might be upset at the Villa.
Bill…i think the TJ rant could be down to me. I stick by what I said 100%. And I will repeat it time and time again if necessary. For those who are not sure what this is about go back to the article where Ian highlights an Aston Villa autographed ball for auction. Thats the last word on it from me!
You did take a little out of context, although possibly in bad taste he was imo mocking AVFC and not the plight of the unfortunate little girl.
I take it its that eBay auction ? Still if he as an issue its not with news and views surely, I personally don’t see he has a case with that, still I’m no solicitor, to me its daft.
Lmao shite i better watch my p’s & q’s or i’ll have the whole villa team sueing me.i better get racehorse haynes to defend me.
I have no intention of going to Villa Park for the foreseeable future. Sure, I live far enough away that it’s my whole day gone, plus the expense of getting there on top of the ticket, but I haven’t seen a win in a couple of years or more and just can’t justify any of it. I’m going to start going to more away matches though, where at least there’s some atmosphere, and to U21 and U18 matches where possible. I want to enjoy myself, and watch some good football, not too much to ask. I still want to support the Villa but if there’s one less seat filled at home matches that’s my point made to the owner.
I’m always hopeful we can get a result, but deep down I expect that we won’t.
It’s a pity this run of form didn’t happen in Dec/Jan and forced everyone to voice their opinions when the club could still do something about it instead of spouting out ‘well we nearly spent 30m on one player’… utter nonsense. Sell up Randy, move on.
Think all blogs and websites relating to Villa should do some polls that ask questions.
What i have noticed is an apathy amongst supporters no one seems to want to protest because of the Mcleish situation, but we are now 18 months into a project.
The project in my eyes is sell all of the over paid crap and bring in under paid crap.
its just bullshit everyone is disgruntled but nobody seems to be aiming for the same target some are blaming Lambert some are blaming lerner some are even blaming the fans. How anyone can blame our fans is beyond me the support we have shown is fantastic and we have gone along with the spin, i feel most fans are going to give the board the backing until the summer and if we dont see real movements and quality signings then Lerner will lose all support from his most ardent fans.
Me personally the level of expectation has been dropped by a board who are excellent at spin, we are in the Premier league we have a huge amount of income, if the books are so bad and the board had to pay out on failed managers then its the boards fault. if the board took on a manager that got our fiercest rivals relegated it is the boards fault.
The one constant in all of this is the board, the board manage the finances the finances are out of control I am no accountant but come on. lamberts tactics have been appalling but this is clearly now down to the board, the board need to go first closely followed by Lambert.
Also look at our last two winter windows we have not really signed anyone significant. In the previous window we signed Bent who in all fairness cost the board a lot but his goals kept us in the league we were not scoring in that season.
If you compare ourselves to the likes of Spurs and Everton, Spurs under Redknapp spent less than us but had a much better team. Moyes ran Everton on a shoestring and they were on a par, now both teams thrash us. This gradual decline is down to Randy Lerner and its time the fans turned on him and his useless sidekick Paul Faulkner
Lerner has to go he is killing the club and he is killing the fans expectations we should be in the top 6 and we should be challenging in at least one of the cups, we can achieve this without massive spending as well. But if you say you expect that then we cant buy the likes of Rooney on 300k a week or you want the Qatari Royal family running the club, i dont want either, I just want to goto the Villa and see us give it a go and start challenging again because the last 4 years have simply not been good enough for Aston Villa FC, not in my eyes anyway.
Lerner OUT
Morgan nice one mate ‘we get rid of the overpaid crap then bring in underpaid crap’ pretty much sums it up imo.
Completely agree I no longer go because I don’t live in the country but for the first time in my life I do not know who we are playing each week and I do not follow the game on radio/internet. My father is 81 and a villa fan all his life he can’t even watch MOTD anymore. Its not just the villa overpaid players who are not comitted to their clubs are not worth watching.
Fair play to your old man and I thought it was just me. Can’t be arsed with motd, sky never!
A load of over paid mercenaries (players and managers) just looking for the next gravy train.
Modern football sucks!
ive said before, living in the north west these days id usually get to about 6 home games a season when visiting brum tying in visits with home fixtures and then about 5/6 away games(it used to be more away but the likes of Bolton, Blackburn, wigan ect have been relegated)all of which cost me a good slice of my disposable income.
this season however ive managed 3 home and one away so far and have no intention of making it anymore sorry to say. this is totally down to the football, its really hard to get excited about the football we play and for many periods this season ive approached almost every game expecting us to loose(Norwich on sunday is no different)and to be fair im rarely disappointed on that score.
Villa are showing me absolutely nothing to tempt me to change my mind at the moment. I of course love our club as we all do but lately, this last few months especially ive just got to the point where I feel we as fans are getting the piss taken, I really feel for friends and family who’ve got season tickets, its so depressing(they to a man will not be renewing next season unless there is a big shift in some way).
I still watch live when I can because im still a villan and I want to see us win and I like to watc hthe gamesif only to have an informed opinion on how we are playing.
got nothing to do with being fickle, the villa fans have been brilliant all things considered but theres only so long you can keep giving and giving, time, energy and passion as well as hard eared cash without anything coming back the other way. villa as a club at the moment are giving us nothing at all.
i live around the north west also, shame the likes of wigan and bolton are no longer in the top flight. but the way we are heading we should be able to get a cheap away ticket again.
anyways i am looking forwards to beating norwich. hopefully we will score many goals and perform like brazil. but 3points will do i am not greedy. so quiet on this site, oOhPoo and badger glad to hear you guys are to continue. i love reading other villa fans points of views.i would really miss it
Sky fucked up football, our next 3 matches at Home are not 3pm kick offs. I have been a STH for20 + years and know more Villa fans that do not go than do. Most around me have given up and moved on others will not renew for various reasons next year.
Well the good news is no Sky TV games in April, well are boring I guess on TV so lets take that as a positive.
A good example of how we are losing interest and i bet i was not the only one who felt like this on Sunday. Whilst those goal flashes were coming up i wished Sky had gone for the Liverpool Swansea game instead of us.
We are so shit too watch this season is it anything to do with this defensive coach we took on in the summer because if it is sack him and bring in a defensive coach who knows formation under attack and defend. I have noticed in our games this season we stay in a defensive formation when we are attacking which is why our possession stats are so poor.
Lowton not playing makes a difference to our attacking play anbd to how well Wiemann plays, Lowton is great at coming forward findinfg the right pass and his crossing range is very diverse as well. hey but Albrighton and Lowton will play well and then get dropped Lambert does not want any up starts in his squad.
I wish the board the manager and the coaches would just piss off sick of the whole lot of them
oh so true ~ I have noticed in our games this season we stay in a defensive formation when we are attacking which is why our possession stats are so poor said by morgon villa
its a tightrope last year , we were open. this year, you can see they worked on the defence. stepping up together as shown in everton game.keeping a defence shape also has downfalls as morgan said keeping the ball is much harder.
so the run in approaches and they need to find some form. i am confident we will. starting against norwich .we will finish strongly 5 more wins. we will look back at this and last season as transition seasons.
be gentle or i sue
lol
We won’t do that to you Billy goat….curry.
I had goat curry last night and it’s been disagreeing with me all day.
Hi Foxy. Billy goat curry change his name to let be Avin you , problem was the avatar the same.
Is that why you keep butting in 🙂
Groan
I think all the fans are losing interest. I can’t see how anyone can point to any positives at the moment. Maybe that we’ll have Okore back sooner rather than later?
Other than that I got nothing., I agee with all comments on here.
I don’t go to games because I live abroad, I used to go when I could, if I lived back home now there is no way you’d catch me at VP. I’ve lost interest for the first time as a fan because of our current reigime, game by game this season it’s gotten worse, the last game was the first game I didn’t watch this season, I won’t watch against Norwich either even though I think we’ll actually beat them.
Sad days as a Villan no doubt. Relegation is looming;
