Mathew Lowton has signed a new deal at the club and joins a host of players that include, Wiemann, Baker, Clark, Benteke and a host of other players. Lowton was one of Lambert’s better signings last season and has impressed at right back. Lowton was also linked to a few premier league clubs but has decided to stay at the club until 2017.
“It is a very exciting time for the Club,” said Lowton.
“We went through some difficult periods last season but we finished strongly and had won a lot of people over by the end of the season. The fans were with us all the way though and they made themselves heard home and away, superbly well and that’s something that really helps the team and is appreciated greatly by all the lads. Everyone could see what the gaffer was working towards and over the second half of the season it showed.
“With the new signings this season as well as some players signing new contracts, the likes of me and Ashley, Andi, Brad, Ciaran and Nathan, it shows the Club is moving forward and it’s really exciting to be a part of that.
Paul Lambert has not only been successful in the transfer market, but has also secured the futures of many key players. Aston Villa’s main priority now is to secure the future of manager Paul Lambert.
Excellent news. Cant wait to see lowton a season more experienced. 2 more the same please mate
Its good news day at VP..feeling great! 🙂
We’re on our way up that table………..
The lad deserves a new contract and so does Lambert. He’s doing us proud so far during the break.
Good day for villa all round me thinks.
At the start of the season, not long after signing, I was skeptical to say the least, but as the season progress Mathew definitely proved me wrong. Made up for the lad and the club. Smart move on their part.
Think this signing is more important than that of Benteke. I am reall glad they have both signed , along with the others such as Clarke and Wiemann but Lowton was the one who really impressed me. UTV!
