How fucking strange that there is no mention about Cole, Senderos or Richardson leaving….is that our plan for the season?….wouldnt be at all surprised…..pathetic mismanagement again IMO!

The Villa management are capable of more cynical operation that you guess. The squad are in Portugal for hard training. Let us suppose that some of the sick-notes fail to come through it. This will enable the club to pay-off at a reduced rate their contracts – perhaps with some insurance but I doubt it. In all contracts there is a resolution for the situation where a player cannot recover his previous form due to injury, and therefore cannot be included in the team. This is an obvious hazard that affects several players and all clubs.
It is not the case that the player remains on the sick list for the remaining years of his contract at full basic pay. Your three musketeers are in the firing line for this.

I had a feeling watching some clips of Gueye that he looked very similar to Delph! I guess it all makes sense now!

I dont mind Delph leaving, but the whole speech about loyalty a few months back…embarassing all round.

At least we wont lose him on a free though

Think it was obvious the club signed gueye to sugar coat Delph going. No mention of Delph on OS either. Exactly the same next season bottom 6 I’m afraid

You don’t rate Delph, you’ve said it loads of times. Plenty of time to replace / rebuild.

A lot of extreme rhetoric on here from the conspiracy theorists. If only the Villa management were that clever we wouldn’t be fighting relegation every year!

Delph is leaving – so what get over it. Most of you spent last year tearing strips out of him anyway and at least we got £8m rather than f**k all.

Now the Gueye signing is some sort of sugar coated pill; not what was being said when it first became a possibility.

I get it – you hate Lerner and it’s all his fault but the comments are predictable and boring – bit like newsnow really – keep regurgitating the same old b****cks.

Loyalty in football is a phenomenon that disappeared as soon as billionaires were permitted to buy a Premier League club and use it as a play thing. Man City are, what I would describe as ,a similar size club to Villa but I still remember when it was announced that they had been taken over by this consortium, people said that they would be winning trophies before long, and they were right. Now all City, Chelsea and Liverpool do is flash the cash and players come running. No longer does it matter to a professional that I would give anything to have an ounce of talent in order to get paid for playing the game I feel myself falling out of love with. It is wrong just to blame individual players, we would all take more money if offered. It is the pretentious attitudes they have when they start kissing the badge and making stupid statements like “This is my club”
It is no longer about the towns and cities of Manchester, London, Liverpool or Birmingham. It just so happens that a collection of players from various parts of the world are being paid lots of money to play their football in Manchester etc. At least with Franny Lee as chairman, or the much hated Peter Swales, you had people who had the club at heart. City will finally buy the Champions League, which is itself a joke. I am old fashioned and proud of it, despite only being 48. A club should be full of local players who want to die for the cause and not some foreign player who will go to the highest bidder. And if your club were good enough to win the league, they would represent you in the Champions Cup of Europe like we did in 1982, where the word Champions meant something, not 2nd, 3rd or 4th. So, for me we are better off with the likes of Delph, Benteke, Vlaar and Cleverley . I am in no way a fan of Randy Lerner, he is just like any other foreign owner. He has no respect for the tradition of the club. You only have to look at Vincent Tan changing over a hundred years of tradition at Cardiff by converting the main colour from blue to red and also the club badge from a bluebird, their nickname, to a dragon. Not forgetting the owner of Hull City who wants to change the name to Hull Tigers. If we start going down the route of names like American gridiron ( I refuse to call it football) teams then that is it for me, you are welcome to it all. I suppose there will be those who want Lerner to go and hope we are bought over by our own billionaire consortium. That for me on ly makes the rich in the game get richer and us poor fans pay the price.Okay……end of rant.

Can’t blame Delph for leaving, but who the hell sanctioned the £8M release clause, if Benteke’s is £32.5M surely Delph’s should be at least £16M. It annoys the hell out of me how underrated he is by fans on here, I think once he settles at City he may surprise a lot of the naysayers, he’s a big loss for me. If fatty Faulkener had sanctioned this measly clause I’m sure we’d all be up in arms!

I might be wrong but didn’t Delphi sign a new contract with 6 months to go or something like that, which would have meant his agent could put whatever clauses in the contract he wanted because 8 mil is better than 0 mil. What amazes me is why someone thought it was a good idea for him to front the kit launch, adjusting the captains badge (or maybe he was actually taking it off).
He’s a great player and will be a massive loss, but he’s fucking crazy it he thinks he’s doing the right thing for his career . He’ll get the odd game here and there, but he’ll languish on the bench and may even miss out on a place in the England squad because of this. I’m just amazed that Sinclair and Richards didn’t sit him down and warn him away from man c. Well you reap what you sow Delph………

Delph ‘this my club, I want you to know that there is still loyalty in football’………..what I WONT say is there is a £8 mil release clause in my contract which makes it certain that I will leave in the summer! Just as bad as Downing IMO!

This is what pisses me off, the 8mil release clause. He also made a fool of himself with the loyalty bullshit. Let him warm the city bench, and we as Villa fans move on.

He’s certainly shot himself in the foot with his previous comments,I can safely say the VILLA fans will be extremely unforgiving whenever we play city presumably only if he’s on the field which I doubt he’ll just be a squad player in bit roles.I wish him the worst yes I’m a scorned fan

Fuck him, he’s a typical footballer. Comes out with stuff that the fans want to hear but had no intention of meaning what he said. I wish him all the success he deserves for the way he’s treated us, what goes around comes around, not that I’m bitter or anything. 😉

Welcome to VP Idrissa Gueye. Hope you and your family enjoy your stay in Birmingham and that it’s a successful one. 🙂

Am I the only one who thinks Delph is a bit rubbish? What is he really good at?

I’ll actually be quite happy if he goes, and I am happy that cleverly has already gone. They’re not that good at football. We have a manager who can make average players excel, imagine what he can do with quality.

delph is only being signed to fill the quota of english players. he is not champions league class . never was never will be ,at least we got £8m for him it would have hurt more if he left for nothing. the £8m pays for Gueye.

New Regime, I’m in agreement with you on your comment, Delph and I said it in comments was an explosive type of player, I mean that in a nice way, he first came in and you could see he was going to be sent off or booked, he showed aggressive tackles and I liked his attitude being determined in the game, after all he was trying, now to me he’s a Judas saying and not meaning it, he’s now finding a new roll for England and its turned his head, but be assured only time will tell if he can maintain that type of football for City, me! well he can go need to start putting football back a Villa Park.

the club can’t be blamed for the 8m release clause.
other than not extending his contract last summer.
delph was on his way out for nothing.
    players hold all the power.
senderos, cole etc are not going anywhere
unless they get a better deal somewhere else.
players would rather pick up there money than play these days.
