Aston Villa 1 – 1 Swansea; Tedious and boring

So the job I had to go and do today wasn’t too bad and I managed to get back at about five past three.
Typical of my luck and my first glimpse of the game was watching the re-runs of our goal.
It was a decent goal though and cheered me up no end.
A nice through ball from Weimann and a smart finish from Gabby; good stuff.

I wasn’t cheered up for long though, as we soon regressed to our usual tactics of two defensive banks of four, which allowed Swansea to come at us at will.

And when you’re constantly being battered, it’s pretty obvious the opposition are going to score eventually, which is exactly what they did.

It didn’t take long for me to start thinking “why don’t we up the pace, close them down faster and try and stop them playing?”; after all, it’s about the only thing we’re any good at as a team, in my opinion.
Anyway, it did actually happen for a few minutes in the second half and you could hear the crowd instantly trying to get behind the team.
It was short lived though.

Anyway, going back to early on in the game where we were winning, I found myself thinking about something else.
Yes, I know, I was doing a lot of thinking, instead of just concentrating on the game, like I always try to do.
So my question to myself was “does your perception of the way the team’s playing change depending on the score at the time?”

I determined that it probably does and decided to try and analyse the game more than just try to enjoy it for what it is; a game.

Even when we were one up, I’d decided that we are genuinely a poor side.
Swansea’s goal obviously did nothing to change that opinion and me expecting Swansea to go on and win the game changed it even less.

I’m probably boring you. Which is exactly how I found the game. Boring.
Boring as hell.

Nothing has changed. We sit back and try and soak up the pressure and resort to punting the ball long for Gabby to run onto. It’s so tedious, it’s almost laughable.
And this is at home!

While I thought we were poor, I also thought I’d have a look at some stats, just to check.
I’m not a massive fan of them, but they can be indicative of a trend;

Villa first.

Total passes; 252 vs 721
Percentage of passes long; 23% vs 10.8%
Passing accuracy; 57.1% vs 85.9%

And to cap it all, we had 27.1% possession.

When you consider I don’t think Swansea were very good today, that’s simply appalling.

I’m getting fed up of being bored watching the Villa.
If Lerner genuinely watches us every week, surely he can see just how poor we are?
And has to do something?

Trouble is, I really don’t see anything changing.

Another embarrassment, but the draw keeps lamberk in the job. Sigh, seriously whats the point any more. AVFC might as well be dead because carrying on in this vein with mr no show chairman and the mumbling buffoon of a manager is beyond depressing.
Aston Villa is one big shambles, filled with shame and humiliation. Can’t even pass the ball, that sums it up in one. Even the basics fail this line up, there’s management set ups at non league level that are more effective with their resources.

Shelvey shown us today how bad our midfield is, I did think Westwood and Delph were possible players but on todays and other performances this season i would say both are not that good, in fact apart from Guzan i would say thay are all championship players at best.

On Guzan although he is a great shot stopper he is one of the slowest distributors of the ball, he probably sees what i see and thinks fuck who on earth should i pass this to.

The swansea GK at no point hoofed the ball all Swansea attacks were on the ground starting at the back , we were lucky they had Bony up front who in all fairness is that bad he would fit straight into our first eleven no problems. Thank God Michu was injured i dread to think how many goals he would have scored today.

The elephant in the room is Wiemann, Delph and Westwood these great prospects are in fact shit

Luna, Lowton, Clarke, Baker, Westood, Tonev, Weimann – These starters are all absolute shit.
I hate Westwood with a passion, never ever goes with his man then flings his arms around like its someone else’s fault. Overpaid tosh, a £300 a week Crewe player turned Billy Big Bollox overnight!!!!!!!!
Crewe must have been laughing all the way to the bank

We are stuck with this shit though now. He has spent £40m and he have no one worth anything apart from Tekkers and his value has tumbled.

Sack now and get Ole in before Vincent Tan sucks him up

For all his floors, at least Tan is vocal in what he wants, attends games and shows ambition in driving the club forward. I think Lerner would need to ask for directions to Villa Park!!!

What the fuck has happened to the Premier League though mate?

I think Lerner is just happy with 17th place each season. Play like today from the Stadium of Light moving forward and we are in serious Barney Rubble…….

Of course he is, he makes a tidy chunk from us and sky while spending very little.
Even Sunderland will beat us, they have the bit between their teeth atm while we are in tatters, in both footballing and confidence sense.

I really have tried to stand by Lambert and after the fight to stay up last year i did think we could move forwards , sorry to say but i was wrong i cannot even remember when we had any where near 50% possession let alone controlled a game, our luck as ran out and young hungry way is not working ,if the manger is to stubborn to admit this then he must go,so what i am saying is Lambert change your way’s or admit your finished and go…just do not drag us down with you.

Another classic from Lamberk, ‘we’re half way there’. What ambition for the man to get Aston villa to 40 points and 17th place. 23% possession and twats on twitter claiming a point at home to Swansea is good. I stick to my claim that there isn’t a worse football team in the league than us.

Lambert: “We are sitting not too bad at the moment” ….Firstly this comment doesn’t make any sense and for the millions he gets paid he should be able to mumble at lease a sentence in English. And if he thinks four points of relegation is not too bad, then this shows our aspiration as a club, shit Manager shitter owner and shittier of shits CEO.

What about the fact that of the shit down at the bottom, of which we are part, we’ve only managed to beat Cardiff. Lamberk is sounding like an utter tool now. Swansea were 6/4 favourites to win. Aston Villa at home to a team who were going out of existence 5 years ago and we were expected to lose. That’s lerner’s legacy for the next generation.

did anyone think gabbys celebration was a bit odd? firstly he scores in front of an ecstatic holte end and barely acknowledges the fans and runs off to the bench, the media have said the team ran to lambert but it didn’t really look that way, gabby and the team ran past lambert to the bench, could be nothing but it was all a bit odd if you ask me.

What summed it up for me is when Tonev was subbed everyone around me including myself said the same thing

totally forgotten about him and that sums it all up

i have a feeling That Lambert will be gone at the end of Jan…my reasons
1)we will have a shit Jan have you seen the fixtures
2)more low cost players (Lerner will like this as is says i gave him cash…But not really.
3)any one new right now will want 3-4 big named players to save us that means real money being invested Lerner does not want this.
4)Lerner can say we needed to act now and it does no look to rash on Lambert.

But really comes down to the fact that Lerner does not want to pump cash in and sacking Lambert now would mean paying him off and buying some prem players, who ever comes in is going to say we need experience players.

The only counter argument to that is Lerner will not want us going down because he will lose out in sky money tv revenue etc.

    wittonryan December 29, 2013 at 4:03 pm . Reply

He will not want us to go down, but i think he is willing to take a gamble,he as been messing with our prem status for a few years now and only stayed up last year and the year before because other teams where worse than us,we really cannot say there is a worse team than us this time round.
