According to the Metro Aston Villa are closing on another loan signing, Barcelona’s wonder-kid Jean Marie Dongou could possibly join Aston Villa on loan. Aston Villa have so far brought in Grant Holt and Ryan Bertrand, meaning that Villa cannot sign anymore domestic players on loan. However, the club is allowed to bring in at least two more players on loan from foreign clubs.
Jean Marie Dongou has be dubbed as the new ‘Samuel Eto’o’. This kid is from Cameroon where he has been scoring for fun in his devision matches and recently scored whilst playing for the first team. Barcelona will surely want Jean Marie Dongou to play and if Lambert can guarantee it, this move may happen.
However, I have doubts. And the main reason is! He is a forward, we have just signed Grant Holt and Lambert has backed Helenius to be a success. So unfortunately this move won’t happen. If he can play out-wide there may still be a chance, but it seems unlikely.
But the most interesting aspect of Metro’s article isn’t the transfer link itself. It’s the fact that Aston Villa and FC Barcelona may create a partnership. That’s all that was mentioned. But you could imagine it might involve FC Barcelona loaning out a few of their players to Villa and/or Villa having first option to some of the youth players that failed to make the first team. But would it also apply the other way around? Would Barcelona have first option to our youth players? I’m probably getting ahead of myself but hey, there hasn’t been a whole lot of Villa related news so I’m trying to make the best with what I have.
Biggest problem is he won’t get a work permit. Not a dual nationalstill Cameroonian
Well if he is like Eto’o, then he can play out wide. Eto’o was incredible at Inter on the left of Milito. I do think it’d end Helenius’s chances of playing this season, but then again I never expected him too and it could end Bowery’s chances which wouldn’t be a bad thing.
With our academy tended to be focused on home-based talents, unless we found another Crowley, I wouldn’t be worried if a partnership happens that we’d lose anyone, but I guess if we found say an 18-19 year old abroad, he played incredible for 4 seasons and they wanted him, they’d get him. But if we had first choice at their academy for loans, we could be hitting the jackpot. I mean take their wingers/forwards for example, Tello hits a hat-trick because of Messi, but has struggled for playing time. Can you imagine him on loan? It won’t happen as he’s making his way into the first team, but imagine another one of him on loan? It would be incredible. But then I could just be getting far to excited about it as well.
Just to pick you up on Bowery, I’m not sure we’ve seen him play as a striker for more than 15 minutes and that was in one of the matches where no one else could be arsed and didn’t he have a header or shot wide or off the woodwork? There’s a good chance he’s probably not going to be that special but until we’ve seen him play in his correct position surely we can’t write him off so soon?
I’d be hoping he goes out on loan if we get Dongou. Sounded a bit harsh and probably should have worded it better, but he’s not a player I’d trust if Benteke or Holt went down and him being the back up.
Me neither and yes, he should be on loan. It seems such a waste to cherry pick players who do well in lower leagues and leave them in the reserves or on the bench. If they’re not being used get them into teams where they can play competitive games and develop.
lets thats right get excited byu prepping another team’s players and see them disappear if any good, that is not long term for us but short term and cheap thinking.
All very well to say that. What about all the other teams using loans to improve their teams/squads? Everton for example have Lukaku and Deulofeu. They are interested in others. Why would you want Villa to suffer while others are playing that system. It’s fine to think its wrong (in principle I think it’s wrong too) but we have to look after ourselves here.
True but Everton will lose out when they give those players back in the summer.
Yes but unlike usual they’re financially well off now without having to sell a single player, and they can make solid signings with hopeful European football because of these signings. Plus they can still sign Barry and Lukaku didn’t rule out a permanent move to Everton if they made the CL when he was asked.
Ah but that’s the point a loan like Barry who we have a chance if keeping fair enough but a loan like lukaka forget it like you say he would only stay with Everton if they finish in CL which even though they are not far away truly can’t see then doing that.
Let’s send them Hutton over see what they make of that !!
Lol!
i would rather take a comic word over than metro, didn’t they report elvis was on holiday with E.T maybe not. but why would a top so called prospect wanna come 2 villa, if barcelona was loaning 2 groom him 4 the 1st team, wouldn’t they send him 2 a team that play more on the ground
Ya this doesn’t really add up for me. I would imagine its hoolahan or bust at this point. rightly or wrongly.
