According to the Birmingham Mail, who appears to be the most reliable news source. Claim that Aston Villa are not going to pursue Kiyotake. Aston Villa have submitted a transfer inquiry about the Japanese midfielder and news outlets claim that Nuremberg want a big fee for their midfielder. Aston Villa are very unlikely to pay the 8 million fee that has been demanded and as a result, will not follow up their inquiry.
I know little about this player, except for the fact that he has had a very good season and appears to be rated. However, I don’t see Aston Villa buying any more players until they sell a couple more. But from this transfer inquiry, Aston Villa fans will now know that Lambert still wants to add to his team, particularly the midfield.
Kiyotake is an attacking midfielder, so perhaps Lambert is still looking for a player that can play behind the forward. I thought that was why Bacuna was brought it?
Not to worry, Lambert will not be rushed into paying more than the going rate, and that’s good for the game, If clubs over here don’t want to pay for the likes of Bent, Ireland, why should we break the bank. To me it shows that Lambert knows what he wants and prepared to keep looking, still time for clubs to off load and Lambert knows players will be sold.
Dissapointed if it’s true tbh. So far we’ve spent a total of 10.8mil on our new lads which is phenomenal by todays standards when you look at teams like West Ham/Spurs/QPR (no need to include citeh or chelski).
Kiyotake is exactly the type of player we need and have needed for a years. I think 8mil is reasonable and realistically we could be looking at 4mil for Ireland, a maximum of 8mil but more likely 5-6 mil for Bent, we can likely get 3-4 mil for Given, 2-3mil for Bannan and the same for The Fonz. Totalling anywhere between 12mil and 22mil in funds recouped, plus all the wages that will then be off the books and saved.
In Lambert I trust, however I think it will be hard to find a player like this for any cheaper, but then what do I know.
UTV
Think ur right mate unless we get a few players if the books we won’t sign anyone over £2-3m which is pathetic. Lerner has now cut the wage bill big time and has millions extra via sky. How we can’t afford a couple of £7-10m players is beyond me tbh. If we got these players Lerner would get most if his money back by us finishing higher
up the league and marketing in Japan. Even teams like west ham and Southampton have more to spend than we do its a joke. Though tbf I would be annoyed if we had paid 15m for Carroll west ham really fucked up there.
In Lambert we trust, fair enough but Randy appears being a right old miser (again) and you have to wonder if at some point PL (given his thrifty spending so far) will go- bollox- back me or sack me. He (PL) don’t seem the type to suffer fools gladly.
Correct oohah and bws. For me it’s a no brainer really. Such a lively looking player and seems to be a perfect fit for out team in terms of what is needed.
Oohah mate, you make a very good point about shirt sales and marketing opportunities in Japan/Asia with Kiyotake, I didn’t really even think about that. They’re mad for it over there, just look at Manures shirt sales alone, it’s astonishing.
Really good point about the marketing opportunities Oohah. And looking at this fella on youtube he really looks a excellent play maker, just we need.
Could this be the beginning of the end of a beautiful friendship between PL & RL? Hope not but can’t see PL appreciating having his judgment questioned.
The prices quoted don’t seem too excessive. I’m disappointed we have missed out on 2 top creative players these past 2 weeks. Sort of player to move the club a big step forward. Clubs like Southampton meanwhile are after even more expensive & quality players.
This is fucking pathetic. We still need 2 players IMO. An experienced CB and DM. Randy, the club belongs to us NOT you. If we cant compete with the likes of West Ham and Southampton then its time for you to move on! Lambert has performed miracles with very little financial backing. The extra sky money has NOT been utilised to improve the team further. This is NOT acceptable. There is no reason why we cannot sign 2 x 7/8 million relatively experienced players. We must start moving forward now and this season is a great opportunity to do just that
P and P
Jesus LV you all right mate? By your standards that’s a right rant but you’re right RL is taking the piss. PL’s trying basically to rebuild the club from top to bottom, the blokes proved himself worthy of leners trust with his signings so far (all on a shoestring) and when he tries to inject a bit of quality (and we aint talking Lionel Messi here) old Ebenezer Lerner wont loosen the purse strings, fooking outrageous mate.
I love the way you signed off with P and P after that little outburst.
Lol… I am Positive and patient.. 52 years of Supporting Villa gives you little option! But I’m also ambitious. We now have the right manager IMO to take us forward after years of stagnating. I am desperate for Lambert to succeed. I worry that he will go if he is not backed to a certain degree!
P and P 🙂
Tell me about it mate, the woes of being a Villa fan.
I think so too LV.
A lot of hard work has been put in by PL and he has been on the whole very successful so far. I’m all for being patient and waiting on us selling and offoading players first and can unserstand that philosophy, however, opportunities like this don’t come around very often. This player could potentially be worth double in a years time. If reports are true and there is a buy out clause in the 7.5mil region it seems mad that we wouldn’t go for it.
I keep banging on about in the hope that Lerner will stop by and have a read one day (unlikely) but this is position (imo) that needs filled the most in our team, more than a DM or CB.
To continue from oohahs excellent point. Even from a business mans (which Lerner has proven himself to be) point of view this would be an excellent opportunity to gain untold extra revenue from Japan in club merchandise.
business mans (which Lerner has proven himself to be)
Ermm don’t know about that mate, Daddy’s money me thinks-MBNA- I think Popper (Al) Lerner was the brains behind the operation.
The point I was trying to make is that he certainly ain’t a fan mate.
Lerner, god how he really splits the opinion of the Villa faithful, it nearly went off in the Holte a couple of times last season between the Pro – Anti Lerner factions but for me the Jury is still out.
Yea ok he tarted up the Holte Pub and Bodymoor Heath and then gave MON shit loads of money but fuck aint we paying for it now? And lets not mention (he who shall not be named) and old cardiac arrest, what was that all about?
Now he’s just being a tight arse and I can’t see PL hanging around too long if this continues.
Jury is still out with me too mate, but where was he last season, nowhere to be seen. He’s done some good things for our club but now more than ever he needs to meet the ambition of our manager, he’s no mug and is seriously savvy in the transfer market. Lerner should know this by now, shame that everything is probably done by telephone and email. if he got himself down to Bodymoor and VP once in a while to see whats actually happening he might even get a little excited, highly doubt it though.
In the context of todays game 8mil is peanuts. Plus all of our players will have sell on value.
I think the original post misleading the people commenting slightly – the article suggests an enquiry was made as to his availability; his club said he wasn’t available and that they pursuing it. I don’t think this is a case of not willing to pay – it’s a case of, even if they pay, they won’t sell.
BWS…Its not acceptable mate. We are not asking for millions… Just the extra sky money. We have to move forward now otherwise Lambert will be in a dead end situation and we will lose him.
P and P
Hate to say it but I think at some point (with Lerner at the helm) that’s the way it’ll pan out anyway, this is Villa we are talking about here-get so far and then hit the self destruct button.
BWS agreed mate. Every team, no matter who, need to show some evidence of ambition. By my reckoning we have so far spent 10 or 11 mil. Why cant we buy at least 2 x 8mil players giving a total spend of approx 26 mil. The extra sky money is believed to be 20 mil and we could reasonably expect to get 6mil back for our outcasts. This will mean that we will in fact have spent zero with a lower wage bill and with players with a sell on value.
P and P
Is it unrealistic to say that we don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes and the transfer window isn’t yet closed? Or is this moaning an ailment all football fans suffer from, right now Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs fans are filling their forums with posts about how rubbish their owners are for not backing their managers with the money to give Benteke a proper team to play for etc etc etc? From what I’ve read so far Kiyotake is under contract and our initial offer has been turned down. If he wants to stay and the club don’t want to let him go can we force him to come to Villa, but our penny pinching owner just won’t stump up the millions? Is it possible for the money they want we’ve spotted someone else better for the price? Or maybe, just maybe, we’re still negotiating and the BM has it wrong?
“moaning an ailment all football fans suffer from”
A symptom of Football withdrawal Syndrome (Syndrome non pedites globus).
Surely beer is the answer?
Lol. Agree 100% Foxy but a little too early in the day for beer so a little whine will have to do.
We don’t know 100% whats happening behind the scenes but it’s worrying to think that this a case of PL going to the board saying I want this lad at 8mil let’s get it done only for Lerner/Faulkner to say look elsewhere he’s too much and we need to slash wages etc. This is unfortunately what I reckin is happening and it ain’t good news.
It boils down to Lerner showing faith and repaying Lamberts heroic efforts so far with the mold set out at the beginning. If Lerner doesn’t do that we might find ourselves with a very unhappy manager.
MD8. Agreed mate. Thats what worries me more than anything. IMO we have the right manager at last. We cannot afford to lose him because of Randy’s penny pinching philosophy!
P and P
Agreed mate, by far our best manager for while now. He couldn’t be more obvious with his outlook and ambitions, would be a total disgrace to lose him because of lack of backing from the board. IF this is down to Lerner, he needs to join in with ambition sharpish.
When we can’t shift players like delf and bannana on who are on decent wages never mind the bigger so called stars who are under played and over payed by alot more then were never gonna spend 10 mill on a player. Clubs are never gonna buy the carp we want to sell when they can go sign a quality Japanese player from Germany themselves. I mean who in the right mind would want that lot. Jesus they don’t even make our bench half the time. Imagine you were a chairman and the manager asked you for x millions to buy a bench warmer, fuck you would think there was wiser eating grass. There’s more chance of knitting fogg than selling Ireland. Fuck you couldn’t give him away. I wouldn’t let that (Edited: word not allowed, please don’t use it again) gather spuds. Anway face facts were on a what we need player basis not what we want. Shame thow.
av a little faith
loving the new set up we av ere boys (web site) just like our new season, its bright and a imprtovement on the old one 🙂 any more news of out goings and incomings ???
It’s disappointing that we don’t seem interested in following this up, but I think it’s a bit premature to put it down to Lerner’s penny-pinching when none of us know the circumstances. Lambert might have decided that Nurnberg simply won’t sell and has moved on, or maybe he’s not prepared to pay what he sees as over the odds, or doesn’t want to get involved in a protracted wrangle when he’s got other targets in mind; who knows?
Say the player DOES move to a Premier League side this summer for around £8 mill, then we might have some cause to ask questions, but that’s not to say that he would ever have wanted to join us anyway. We just don’t know, neither do we know at this point what other similar players might also be in Lambert’s sights. I think he’s doing alright, and am happy to wait and see.
Well according to that world renowned online publication Sports direct News Paul Lambert is holding crunch talks with owner Randy Lerner to try and push through a deal for Nuremburg midfielder Hiroshi Kiyotake.
Apparently they ( Nuremburg) want £8.5 m and if PL rates him as highly as reported £8.5m appears a bargain.
If there is any truth in that report then where’s the problem? Come on £8.5m is peanuts in modern football.
Didn’t Sports Direct link Rooney with Newcastle yesterday? 100% reliable mate lol
I really don’t understand how people think we will get £4 million for Ireland – a player on big wages who isnt included in the first team squad, £2-3 million for Given – a player on mega money at the very end of his career, £2-4 million each for Banan and the Fonz, 2 players who have constantly failed to show any signs of progressing from young potential to decent squad players or better. You’re living in dreamworld. Fact is we’ll be lucky to get anything for Given and Ireland and anything we do get the bulk will no doubt be passed on to the player as a pay off and if we get £3 million for Banan and Fonz together we will have done unbeleiveably well. Take the blinkers off people, its not happening!
The big question for me is will Benteke turn up at VP tomorrow in order to go to Germany with the squad. I sense that there could be a bit of mischief about to happen……. Lets just say that he could have commited himself by now as he must know what deal has been offered to him. I hope I’m wrong!
