I’ve had enough of this shit.
I didn’t see the game, but listened to it on AVTV.
And what a bloody waste of £5 a month it’s turned out to be.
Why the hell do I keep putting myself through the same crap where we can’t win a game?
I really want RDM to do well for us, but the plain fact is we were getting battered again for at least the first hour.
Given our squad, this is never right in a million years and I’m quite simply fucking fuming at having conceding a last minute goal yet again.
You can defend the manager all you like, but the plain and simple fact is that this team has no resilience or bollocks about it.
And Gollini?
He had nothing to do all game from what I heard, but the minute the ball comes into the box, he flaps and we concede.
Fucking joke and how he’s getting games over experienced goalies is beyond me.
OMG, I’m stuck for words.
Get this prick of a manager out and get either fat Sam or Pearson in.
They couldn’t possibly be any worse.
I might even put myself up for the job, as at least I’d play Ayew in the middle!
I can’t believe we were battered, went on to take the lead and then threw it away again.
Words fail me.
In case I didn’t make it clear, RDM OUT!
and that would have stood even if we’d won tonight.
A load of crap with no reason to defend the manager, imo.
with you all the way badger, followed match on sky text shameful
grealish suspended for last match straight back into team ? WHY
adoamh goes off with mins left puts rudi statue on why?
as some mentioned wastewood going on when we were in front was a disaster waiting to happen
and you can go over most matches RDM choices are brutal like spending 50m and cover in defence are mutton and richards midfield wastewood and gg no winger really either
RDM has to go now. This was his last chance
We are vast becoming a joke that just isn’t funny.
Bring in Allardyce, i’d welcome the bent sod with open arms.
He won’t be managing for the foreseeable future so you can scrap that idea completely
It’s depressing that after all the spending and only ten games in to the season , I cannot see were our next win is going to come from. Are we cursed or what ? RDM is surely getting close to the chop now. I would even go as far as to say plan B is being implemented as we speak. Big money should have been spent on an experienced goalie. Seen the goal and it was total keepers cock up. Don’t come for the ball unless your going to catch it or bunch it into the opposition half. He needs dropped. I’ve had no faith in our keepers of recent years. Friedel was the last keeper we have had that I had any faith in.
That keeper has cost us at least 8 points this year. Yet who do we replace him with Bunn is useless too
Steer deserves a run, He was solid for Huddersfield on loan last year. No idea why he can’t even get on the bench
I’d give Bacuna a shot. He’s been shit everywhere else.
If i didn’t have to be careful in running this site, I’d suggest that someone is on a big earner in playing Gollini.
Crap goalie, simple, imo.
I disagree Badger. There is no one better in the team. We saw how crap bunn was in FORREST game. Though it’s starting to make me wonder remember when Grobler allegedly made made silly errors on purpose at vital times. Plus Italian leagues have been corrupt in past all allegedly of course!
Ive defended RDM, but this is getting stupid:
85th min vs Sheff Weds
86th min vs Huddersfield
87th min vs Forest
88th min vs Brentford
89th min vs Barnsley
Even though I am not a big fan of changing a manager early for the sake of it, we are going quite literally nowhere with Di Matteo and his coaching staff in charge. I cannot believe that with a coaching set up of Di Matteo , Steve Clarke and Kevin Bond, not forgetting Steve Round, we cannot win a bloody game. It is quite clear that the team does not have the ability or balls to see a game out. I believe that the main reason is the quite obvious lack of tactical knowledge Di Matteo has. He clearly does not read any of these forums, otherwise he would not even put Westwood in the squad. Speaking of which, Rushian Hepburn-Murphy added some spark against Newcastle and his reward is….? not even in the squad. I know he played for the under 23 in Middlesborough on Monday but why not have him on the bench ?
Finally, when (not if) Di Matteo is replaced, we don’t want Pearson (too much full of his own self importance) and we certainly don’t want Allardyce (too much baggage).
I cannot understand why a man, less than two months in to a job that he has craved all his footballing career and that pays over three million pounds a year would want to be tempted by another job on the side worth an extra four-hundred thousand a year. Oh, I know why…….SHEER BLOODY GREED !!!.And it is this greed that led him to agree to the meeting, or rather his agent agreed on his behalf, and his stupidity, not naivety then saw him make the comments he said.
Anyway, back to more important matters Di MATTEO OUT !!!!!!!!!!
Have you noticed that it’s usually a goalie mistake that costs us. Just saying read what u like into that.
It’s incredibly frustrating but i’m afraid your suggestions are no better.
Allardyce will be out of the game for a while now as further investigations will take place (likely he’ll never manage again) and Pearson had a nightmare at Derby, without his successful backroom staff.
Di Matteo might not be the answer, but anyone is going to struggle with such an incredibly mentally weak team, and its even worse at VP when the fans get all nervy. Not that thats an excuse, I’m not pro di matteo at all. Didn’t want him as he was incredibly poor at Schalke, I just think all at AVFC seems doomed to fail. Every team in the championship knows our fragility and we are a scalp for all the smaller teams like Barnsley, Brentford, etc.
On paper we’ve done the right thing, we’ve bought players who are experienced at this level, we have supposedly good coaches in Clarke and Bond, an experienced CEO in Wyness and yet still everything is going wrong. Days like this make me feel Villa will be forever cursed.
A very reasoned post villain1.
But my money’s on fat Sam coming in and it’s what I’m going to call for.
Because he knows what’s needed to get us out of this league.
And it isn’t the bag of shit we’ve got currently, imo.
Hang on a minute Villain1. If you read my post you will see that I have not made ANY suggestions. It quite clearly says WE DON’T WANT Pearson or Allardyce.
Whereas I do, Mark.
It makes no odds; the question is out there.
I’d take anyone over RDM, as he’s a proven failure up to now.
Fat Sam for me.
And that really shows how far we’ve fallen 🙁
We need a Rafa Benitez type manager who would drop a division to manage us. Newcastke are very lucky to have him. The only way to do that is to pay him a fortune and maybe offer him a huge bonus if we go up.
Big Sam’s probably made an agreement with the FA anyway, they’ll pay him off so long as he doesn’t embarrass them and keeps his head down for a couple of years. Don’t want the greedy bastard anyway.
As for Pearson I honestly think he might be a bit nuts and we have enough problems without adding that to the mix.
I think we’ll have to stick with RDM for now because who else is there? Steve Bruce I suppose but I find I’m very lukewarm when it comes to him.
However I still hope that Dr. T has got a Plan B just in case….
Why do so many people on here pick the same old faces as potential managers, Pearson-a big no from me, Big Sam-no thanks, Bruce-hmmm. Why don’t we call for someone young and imaginative and back him through thick and thin, Lee Johnson fits the bill perfectly, his Dad was a good manager, he’s not only learnt from him but seems potentially better, he’s doing a great job at Bristol City and will only get better, be brave Tony and snap him up.
How about going for Sean Dyche offer him a huge wage and bonus if he takes us up. Though we’d have to pay burnley compensation as well
I think whoever touched on the mental blockage is right. Take away these goals in the last few mins and as a rough calculation we’d be 9 points better off and everything would be rosy. These are real fine margins, I would at least give RDM another month to sort it out. A few back to back wins (what are they?) and we can quite quickly climb the league.
Surely the players need to stand up and be counted and take more responsibility for these lapses in concentration towards the end. A manager sets his team out gives them instructions but the captain should be the biggest advocate of game management being the voice on the pitch.
Saying that my biggest worry is we’re not adding a second goal despite pressure and chances. I thought the same against Newcastle in that we lacked composure when it really mattered. This obviously invites the opposition onto us and they can sense taking something from the game.
Is it a mental thing it always seems to be Gollini that’s at fault and he’s always at fault in last 10 mins! Why didn’t the team finish the last ten mins in the front foot like they did at Newcastke. Why did Westwood come on. Why are we defending deep last ten mins it’s exactly what IV been saying. If we were a goal down chances are we would of scored last min goal. Where are the leaders like Jedinek and Elphnick they are supposed of been there done it and worn the t shirt.
We should use our spending power we now have and make an offer they can’t refuse for Eddie howe or Sean dyke or a top manager like Newcastle have with benitez no more messing about with managers not upto running a BIG club like we are.
I was too fucking fuming to post after that shambolic performance & tbh I still am.hopefully the bottom half of RDMS coffin is already prepared with the top half & nails after the Preston game.RDM OUT
Admit it giddy at one nil up with ten mins left we all knew Gollini or someone would make a cock up and they’d equalise. That’s how predictable we’ve become
Its common knowledge that Villa will bottle it in the last-minutes every team knows this and known it for 3 or 4 seasons now. To have picked Di Matteo was the wrong choice from the start, he’s not motivated enough in crucial positions to decide how to change games, I’d have welcomed Bruce or Pearson at the start but reigned Pearson about his conduct in being aggressive. It’s Allardyce now for me I don’t care what they say fiddling been going on for years owner, managers, player’s , George Graham , Harry Rednap , even famous men who now are dead fiddled when in charge at thier clubs , even now on the news people who was England managers was doing dirty deeds, as long as my club Aston Villa is winning I don’t give a dam. Get Alladyce in for me.
Bill, everyone in football knows what Allardyce said is true and that’s why it’s so embarrassing to the authorities. Can’t see him managing any time soon but there might be a very big backlash. There could be quite a few people looking over their shoulders – has Pandora’s box been opened?
I agree re big Sam from England manager to a struggling championship side nahhh,he might retire imo.I think Sunderland would have him back at a drop of a hat.Bruce for me even with the former bluenose tag no comparison to Mclueless their world’s apart.
I actually agree with a lot of what Allardyce said. Especially about paying a load of extra expense for Wembley that was as corrupt as it comes, the Hmrc we all know what they are like, Neville should of kept his useless gob shut and Roy was weak not putting him in his place. Also players not playing regularly for their club shouldn’t play for England. The only think he said that was out of order for me was calling Roy Woy. But everything else he said was true. Now they will pay him a fortune to keep his gob shut so fa can’t be embarrassed any further.
Hitch , your right mate, seen it on the news 8 more to be announced when don’t know, as I was saying the games been crooked for years time will tell if bigger names come out of the hat, still its not getting my team where I want them to be, I’m not burying my head in the ground he’s not the man for Villa action now for me should never have been picked.
Allegedly on redknapp of course.
Yes Oohah allegedly,
👍
Barnsley had two shots on target to our seven yet they converted the same number as us? Thereby lies the problem which has been repeated in game after game.
Winning ugly has been a repeated theme and us vital in the Championship – we had enough chances and should have won last night.
Questions over DiMatteo’s tactical ability – definitely but also over our £40m strike force.
RDM doesn’t inspire confidence but sadly I don’t think changing the manager for any currently available is the long term solution unless we take a real risk and go for someone like Flores.
Big Sam, wants back into management go get him Doc, we are going nowhere with RDM.
Get rid of RDM already?
And replace him with who? Big Sam? Do you lot not read the news? What have you been smoking?
To change managers now would be suicide. What AVFC needs right now is some stability. I never believed we would be promoted at first attempt, but I do believe next season will be our season.
Law of averages say that we will turn this around – and the chances we are creating will turn into goals, so many that in fact it wont matter if the other team score in the last minute.
We need to stick with RDM, and reassess after Xmas. This season was surely all about consolidation after last seasons capitulation. Although we are not winning, we are not losing either, and I”m convinced that the corner where we will turn is nearly here.
I just think the fans calling for RDM need to take a step back for a minute and be thankful for how far we have come since last season when we had Lerner, Gabby up front and Lescott at the back etc, have some faith and be patient.
Say we get a new guy in, and after a handful of games he has only won 1 – what then? Another manager? At some point you have to have some faith in the set up that has only been in place less than 3 months!
Reassess after Xmas???? When we’re in a relegation battle yet again.we couldn’t buy a win atm sound familiar.we stuck with sherwood far too long look what happened you would of thought we’d learnt from those mistakes
@Giddy
‘When we’re in a relegation battle yet again’
A bit OTT, we’re not in the bottom three and we’ve only played 10 games.
I’d say give RDM at least 20 games. Even after that there are still 78 points available and 3rd from bottom last season only got 41 points so a bit early to panic perhaps.
Pat we’re 2points adrift of the relegation zone if things don’t improve how the hell is being in a relegation battle after Xmas OTT I think it’s more fact than fiction
Ps we’re nearly quarter of the way through the season.
we only spent 50m we should be storming this league, look at derby last night rid of pearson suddenly win looking good as well, bar the forest game we have been downright shocking not one shot at ipswich yes ipswich not MAN CITY
rdm is not working we are quarter of way through season on saturday no point letting it go any longer ,international break next week time for change its not rocket science but rdm clarke and bond have been sacked so many times they ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH
We’ve bought all these strikers and still only averaging less than a goal a game. Wtf is going on
But what makes you think another manager will do anything different?
I can see it now, new manager picks Westwood and we lose a couple of games and it will be here we go again!
Stick with RDM and we will get top half, next season if we are in a similar position, then get rid.
Simple fact is we need to give a new manager time, and 10 games is not enough.
We are on the edge of the line here, a very fine line, if the strikers had made more of the chances afforded to them, we would easily be top 6 right now, we are edging closer to turning draws into wins, and I believe one game soon, we will hammer someone because finally we will convert more than 1 chance, HAVE FAITH!
We’ve nothing to lose by changing we are already out of promotion race and hovering on rekegation
agree we have nothing to lose by changing manager, but disagree about be out of promotion race still over 100 points on offer
Ok so we have played ten games and won once. To get automatic promo you need to win around 26 games a season so we need to win 25 games out of the next 36 matches! That is not going to happen now even if pep was in charge. So automatic promo after just 10 games is already beyond us. So all we have now is the play offs where the criteria is lower but we are already adrift. And even if we got into play offs it does not mean we would automatically win it anyway. No manager could not come in now and win at least 2 games in ten ok still not good enough but better than what we have at the moment. Also statistically there is more chance of us going down than getting promoted at this point
Nothing to lose? More upheaval at the club, uncertainty, new manager wanting new players again. A complete merry go around, and turn us into an even bigger laughing stock. We havent been what I would call comprehensively beaten by anyone this season, we havent played well but still grinding out some draws.
I am convinced 1 game will turn the season around when everything clicks, starting with Preston this week!
I say stick with RDM and let him earn his crust by figuring out what his best team is and his best tactics.
In RDM I trust.
well if we wait 10/15 more matches we definitly be out of promotion race, as for not getting hammered these bar newcastle are division one sides we spent more than pl sides
watford signed 15/16 players last season gelled straight away, derby get rid of pearson they win possible players don t like rdm
I disagree are you saying players deliberately let in last minute goals to get rid of RDM? If so they are too blame not him.
where did i say players deliberately let in last min goals,
We need to keep RDM no more chopping and changing we need stability. It’s the players that our at fault for lapses in concentration. We still have a poor defence imo not as bad as last year but still poor. Bacuna, Cissokho, Baker, Westwood. They are not good enough for this league. Untill we sort those positions effectively we will continue to concede goals.
Will AVFC ever have a change in fortune? At the moment it’s although the club’s cursed!
We sign a full back and he’s out for the season.
We couldn’t buy a win (Big Sam might could that right!).
A manager that consistently had win rates in 40% suddenly turns into a gibbering buffoon with a win rate of 9.1%.
We get much needed change of ownership but we’ve go from the ridiculous to the ridiculous, one where the silence is deafening to one that never knows when to shut up.
When will it ever end?
Amen to that.
Continually changing managers has shown to be a fools errand and whilst RDM does nothing to inspire confidence, I really don’t see another change being helpful.
To compare the current position with when Sherwood was manager is laughable – how many straight losses before he was removed?
To suggest we could get managers like Sean Dyche at this stage in the season just by opening the cheque book is naive and unrealistic.
Should have been a response to BWS’s post
Apparently there is a rumour on Twitter that Villa are lining up Dean Smith (Brentford) to replace RDM during the International break. Villa fan and hails from the Midlands – thoughts
If there is any truth to that rumour it’d be very interesting to know who put him in the frame cause I can’t see the Doc having a Scooby who Dean Smith is. I Can’t imagine Walsall or Brentford get much coverage in Beijing.
Mr wyness might of had a word in his ear.
My thoughts exactly Giddy plus maybe a certain Mr. Little? Having said that we all know how reliable Twitter can be!
Rumours will be rife atm especially with the media attention, until anythings rubber stamped then I’ll believe it.
Can’t see it myself, chances are it’ll be one of the usual suspects.
My thoughts Hitch, has to be directors of sport plus honorary board members. Has you said who would know Dean Smith.
Bill I see your local team have offered Stan a coaching roll at the club.does it carry any weight that story mate????
Never heard of him till you posted this. No idea
Did hear something to that affect couple of weeks ago but nothing since. Still grooming the grandkids for Villa,
