I said the QPR game was 0-3.
Of course, it wasn’t.
I was just so gutted, or more accurately numb, that I barely noticed we’d scored, even though I actually watched it live.
So while I’m thinking that this really ought to be a nailed on 3 points, the thoughts that even a club struggling to survive this league might still be able to beat us, swim in my head.
It’s ridiculous really, as if you want to finish near the top, you have to put the struggling sides away.
But that’s what this league is all about, in that anyone can beat anyone.
And as much as we’ve seen lows like the QPR game, so I think it’s a truly great league; just as it should be in being properly competitive.
If only the Prem was the same.
Anyway, squad news and the big one for us is that James Bree will definitely start at Left back, purely because we have no other option. And there was me thinking he’s a right back???
The only other change I’d expect is Bjarnasson to come in for Jedinak, but Bruce might have a change of heart and really change things up.
I doubt it, myself.
As for Bolton, Darren Pratley has a slight thigh injury which could rule him out.
Jan Kirchhoff, David Wheater and Josh Vela could all make returns to the side if needed.
So after losing to a team we really shouldn’t have mid-week, it comes down to pure belief on my part.
And I just think we can win this and get things back on track.

The plus point is that it’s a 5.30pm kick-off, so I’ll get to see it, as it’s on Sky.
The downside is the AVTV subscription, along with other costs, has proved pretty much a waste of money this season, although it does get you the odd game.

I hope Bjarnason returns to defensive midfield. Earlier this season I was a big critic of his. However, I felt he was excellent in this role when we started the last good run. He was very unlucky to have been moved out of this role before being dropped. SB needs to get his tactics and selection right today. I believe it’s the play offs for us.
i also thought the qpr game was 3 nil. i switched off thou and kicked the shit out of my teddies. anyway the game today will be also a tough game. bolton might fall short from actually winning the game, but it will be a uncomfortable away day. also with the beast from the east returning, it will be bloody cold for the away fans. reebok or Macron Stadium what ever they call these days. is always cold but today will be like siberia today.
bolton are a honest hard working team, they sold their main man in jan but have not overly missed him. they will treat villa as their cup final. they are close to securing their championship lives. they are targeting all the home games to collect points they need. they are not the same as rangers more english style. which could suit villa. not much movement which we struggle against.

Oh and the game – I have a bad feeling about this – draw for me I’m afraid but then I called all three games wrong mid week!

i had a bad feeling about this game too. but the rangers defeat will stop us being complacent. that is what happens after a good victory. especially in such a short time

I sort of disagree with the comment that anyone can beat anyone in this league. Fulham as I type are winning again. Cardiff had a mini wobble towards end of last year, and Wolves are teams who won’t be beaten by the likes of QPR at home or Brentford away. We are not as good as these 3 teams currently, and my opinion hasn’t changed after beating Wolves 4-1. When we have a good day with everyone fit we can beat anyone but we seem to have too many days like Tuesday when we don’t turn up. We will have to hope we can click for play offs assuming we don’t blow it. I’m not confident about today so I will go 1-1. Sorry if I sound pessimistic. Would love to be proven wrong.

This really is a strange league. QPR have been crap and then they turn around and beat the Villa and should have beat Fulham at home from what I’ve heard.
So if we win we’ll still be two points ahead of Fulham and only four behind Cardiff.
