I watched this, but actually managed to miss our goal and the highlights of it, somehow; go figure.
Either way, it doesn’t matter.
Why we started with Samba in a back three against a well known lively Bristol attack, is totally beyond me and you have to call Bruce’s tatcics out here.
The disaster was corrected after about 20 mins, but it put us on the back foot from the off.
The simple question is, who looked the better side today?
It wasn’t us, by a long chalk, in my opinion and while we came back into it later on, we never deserved to win that game.
And While Bristol won’t be challenging for the league title, on that showing, they’ll finish higher than us.
And that isn’t good enough!
They had shape and more importantly, a plan.
Whereas we seemed devoid.
Big shout out to those who were there, as they deserved a lot better than what they got.
πππ stop it it hurts,
Were you 2 at Reading….I heard that Villa fans were fighting each other….lol
No, not me lol. The last time I saw Villa at Reading was when we won at Elm Park. I think it was 5-3 in the 70s!
Just read the following about Snodgrass move – alledgedly from reliable source.
Hammers paying 30% of his salary said to be Β£60k per week
Villa have agreed fee to make the move permanent subject to achieving certain things being met in the loan agreement.
The particulars of the loan agreement not stated but could be subject to Villa achieving promotion.
Hitch…thats very interesting! Can’t recall us ever doing a deal like that before. I’m sure someone will have the answer!
langford
either get your eyes tested or read rules of the game the lad scored for bristol was never offside, and player that was didnt play the ball, terrys arm played more of the ball last night than gabby on a good day
as for a great point at bristol city if we had set up right using right players not waiting to half time to make player change and had played well had shots on target not away wide,it would been a good point but then we have already lost 2 away matches with a squad the costly ever made up in championship with biggest wage bill, snodgrass is on 2m ,with the most successful manager at this level,
we should be taking game to every side not sitting back defending hoping to get a goal,
First off JV it was me that posted that not Langford – so get your facts right – and even though I wear glasses my eyesight is perfectly OK thank you.
Second the c.f. was standing in an offside position in the centre of the goal and as the ball can across he attempted to play the ball (which is what I originally posted) as such he interfered with play and the goal should have been disallowed but then you always know better than anyone else.
Factually (do you actually understand that word?) We had only one shot less than City on target .
What is your point on Snodgrass – I don’t think he’s actually played for us yet?
hitchen
are you a complete bell end, langford asked me the question after bournemouth match, but as usual you but but in along with usual suspects,as long as you are happy with apoint at bristol bruce will be kept in a job,
Takes one to know one JV
And on a point of fact – Langford said the goal should have been disallowed. I had previously posted an explanation why it should have been disallowed which you challenged – hence I was perfectly correct in my response.
My final word on this – a player is offside if
Interfering with an opponent
“preventing an opponent from playing or being able to play the ball by clearly obstructing the opponentβs line of vision or challenging an opponent for the ball”[5]:108
That is clearly the case in the City goal as their CF prevented the defender from clearing the ball by challenging from an offside position.
I’ve wasting your time mate, Wankford and his merry band of idiots appear to have the consensus on here.
Just tell them bollox and stick to your guns (bunch of happy clapping c@@@Β£).
*You’re*
Billy Wank Stain…you been at the cooking sherry again?
Your so funny!
Are you going to name the ‘happy clappers’ like I named the ‘negatives’?….go in, give us some names!
Hitch wasting your time your replying to someone who I quarantee was well fucked off Bristol never got a penalty for handball by JT sitting there with his brucey voodoo doll & a six inch nail at the ready. Moan when we don’t defend moan when we don’t score enough moan when the kids aren’t being picked moan about formations moan about who’s on the bench etc etc
I thought you had more about you giddy.
Yeah looking at it now I should of used loads more fucking expletives
BWS I have noted your one comment ‘ bunch of happy clapping c@@@Β£’ I thought you had more about you I’ll just put it down to you being pissed up at that time
giddy have you seen the posts on villa fb group you told me about. they tried to show the fight and received warnings and bans. π
No mate sounds interesting possibly shouldn’t advertise it on social media someone’s going to put a stop to short cuts it’s all about money unfortunately ps I’ll have a look now
if you get chance go look they posted the message saying the individual broke fb group rules . posting something that violates facebook policies. hope this doesn’t affect our future links lol they have been top quality
I’m sure this boxing match was pay per view obviously peeps weren’t paying I’m positive this shouldn’t affect the footy
Nath update I’ve just been in conversation to the admin on the group concerned & supposedly a fellow fan took a dislike to having to pay to watch the boxing match & others didn’t hence reporting them to Facebook this individual has now been banned from the group
Fair comment giddy and yes maybe one over the odds.
Does anyone think all is well? We are on 5 points from 5 games and 10 points off top position. We have been garbage for much of that. We should be up there with Cardiff.
Millwall put the Norwich result in perspective and Wigan are a mediocre lower league side. When we start to play attacking football consistently I will be a Bruce fan. Right now I think he is pants.
It’s ok being optimistic as long as it’s grounded in something other than blindness.
To paraphrase something a bloke I once knew said ” I’ll show my arse in Debenhams window” if Villa get promoted under Bruce.
A million miles away
(sigh) π
I have to say I’m thoroughly disappointed with this thread.
I thought we were better than that.
They need to hug it out π
Badger there is a bullying culture from a select few (or should that be one?) and a few to dense to realise they’re simply towing his line.
What can you say? If some fella that frequents VP as often as a Zulu warrior aggressively pushing a ridiculously optimistic agenda there’s gonna be conflict.
Ban the prick.
Fortunately, I don’t feel like banning anyone, BWS.
But I’ll have no choice if I see that sort of rubbish being posted again.
And it doesn’t matter which side of the debate they’re on.
Certainly regulars know the rules already, but I’ll repeat them.
Robust debate is fine, but we ask that you reply to each other as if you were face to face, say in a pub.
And it’s not aimed at anybody specifically, but come on, we’re allowed to have differing views, yet still want the same thing, surely?
In the meantime, I’m going to leave the thread intact, so maybe some of us can reflect on how pathetic it reads.
Oh, if I hear any more talk of “agendas”, particularly when they’re aimed at me, there will be bans.
Do some people seriously think I have some sort of hidden agenda, when I run the bloody site and can say what I want? Which I do, regardless of how I think others will react.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I can be optimistic or pessimistic depending on what I see. And yes, I’m bloody fickle.
I will not be overly optimistic or pessimistic just because someone wants me to.
Bloody hell, that reminds me of when I used to lecture the kids years back π
Fair comment badger but do you really believe one poster would be so conformational and so in your face in the boozer?
I think not.
He needs to draw his neck in mate, a bit of dignity and respect.
Absolutely not.
But in the boozer, there wouldn’t have been that sort of debate, would there?
I would imagine it would be lights out or certainly taken outside.
Unfortunately we don’t have that facility.
The point is no one wants to see people arguing like a couple of women.
I’d ask that whoever starts this slagging type of comment is reported to me via a mail.
And then I can warn the instigator before it gets out of hand.
Just don’t rise to it, as much as I realise supporting the Villa gives rise to serious emotions, to say the least.
To be honest mate if someone was so blindly optimistic in the real world as shall we say “he who will remain nameless” I’d either
(1) Ignore the twat
Or
(2) Humiliate him
Or
(3) Failing both of the above, clout the twat!
But this being cyberspace option 1 is the only realistic choice so it looks like I’ll have to run with it.
Yep, good choice, BWS.
I wonder if there’s a widget where people can filter/ignore other posters?
Doubtful, but I’m going to look into it now.
Lol…..your so funny Lol
Lol…you do make me laugh….tried emailing you as you suggested, but no wifi in your skip apparently….but yiu already knew that, didnt you? Lol
Conformational…..wonderful word….what does it mean? Lol
Lol….no free speech then, just as I thought. Thought you didnt have time to post?
Langford, you don’t help yourself do you?
How long do you think it takes to write a quick reply, as opposed to writing a post and proofreading it etc?
Of course there’s free speech, but not when it insults other people.
That’s it now, I’ve had enough and am not going to discuss it anymore.
Just carry on with your aggressive posting and see where it gets you.
And I’m not being insulted? Lol…..once again an attack on the positive! π :). Evident by yet another quick response by you! Just look at this page alone where Giddy, Hitch and I have all been insulted. And the ONLY time we have responded with aggression is in reply to the insults!.
No what you do is attempt to browbeat all or any that may have a differing view of things then failing that you then play victim.
BWS…stop doing ‘selective reading’. Giddy, Hitch and I have all been insulted on here, read back, its not made up!
You called Giddy a ‘happy clapper’ adding numerous expletives about him (for NO reason)! JV called Hitch a ‘bell end’ and you suggested that you were going to ‘clout’ me if you met me in the pub (I found that hilarious, but ithers may not accept that sort of agression)! Giddy, Hitch and I ONLY showed agression as a response to the insults. Giddy and Hitch insults from you and JV are absolutely nothing to do with me, so how can I claim to be a ‘victim’ in those examples?
Your insults against me, I just laughed as I’m not in the slightest worried about them! As for your question ‘would I be optimistic and positive in the pub’……that a definite yes from me! Just ask the guys I meet up with when Iattend games!
Classic bullying behaviour LV, get posters you perceive as your obsequious minions on side to stand your corner when this is about YOU and YOUR behaviour.
(And that’s not a pop at any of the named posters)
Please don’t bother replying as I’m passed caring and simply not interested.
Lol….WTF is a ‘ubiquious minion’? Another insult, I guess?
Still no answer why you insulted Giddy (again) neither!
I guess the hole that you have dug for yourself is too deep to escape from now, hence the reason why you don’t want a reply! Well guess what, you’ve got one!
I’m moving on. Good luck for the season ahead BWS (genuinely)! Take care!
what is happening to this villa web site ?? anybody catch the boxing last night ?? its getting tough to watch anything these days links being removed. I so wanted moneybags Mayweather to get knocked out
results in championship were good to us. Birmingham & derby losing Norwich getting hammered and I heard Middlesbrough struggled massively at home to Preston.
Adryanlist seems like a good kodi addon mate. Had a crystal clear stream for the boxing.
cheers mate I will look into that π
the next four games are make or break for our season. I think we should all remain calm and wait to see the outcome of these 4 games. we have had a bad start we only have 5 points, which is poor. but we are not cut adrift by any means. Cardiff and Ipswich will fall and other contenders are also having a slow start.
I think the positive posters are just seeing signs that theirs a team capable of challenging for this league in our squad. then the negatives believe we wont amass to nothing again. well we don’t have long to wait to gloat either way. 4 more games and the table will take shape, to who will be up there and who will be struggling.
Good morning Campers, oops Posters, what’s that all about Badger? Am I the only sensible post then? I had a word with my two friends and was told its just banter.well I hope it was, if they don’t stop I’ll come round and bang their heads together for you, its nice in my mind to know we are an army of Villa fans and stick together at all cost. God bless us all. no I don’t go to church but I walk down church road.ππππ
Morning Bill….friendly banter indeed until someone writes ‘negative stuff’ just for the sake of it! Its quite pathetic mate and I’ll always defend the Villa family, just like I defend my own!
3 on here fell into their own ‘negative trap’ again within the last 2 days and lets just say they dont like being ‘outed’! Negativity at every opportunity (even before a ball was kicked) on Friday is so sad and so ‘anti villa’! Why run a Villa blog and then just criticise at EVERY opportunity! Its bullying at its worst. I have NEVER let anyone bully me throughout my life and I’m not about to start now!
Badger is one of the more optimistic posters on here, I think given our poor start to the season he’s entitled to be annoyed.
cheers giddy π
Nath, it’s not about gloating at all, imo.
I’m sure we all want the Villa to start climbing the table, whatever the viewpoint.
I am not getting involved who’s right or wrong, as long as i am allowed to express my feelings. i will continue to post.
as gloating goes, iam sure this happen if it proves a point. I really don’t care myself, I know my own feelings stop with villa being successful, I think this season will become more clearer after the next four games. we win them all and we are up where it counts. the squad and team is far stronger than last year. better than many previous seasons. once they click I still think they will walk the league.
I think passions are high and if we are all villa fans, then we should cut each other some slack. because their are enough knockers of our club without us assisting them.
On a lighter note!
Does anyone think that we will sign/loan anymore players before the window closes on Thursday?
We didn’t get Gallagher who we wanted (allegedly)! Are we therefore in for a striker? If so, who? Crouch anyone?, he’s only the bench again today! Or would you rather just stick with Hogan and Davis until Kodjia is back? I hate the prospect of Gabby coming back into the starting 11 should Hogan and/or Davis get injured! what do you think? By the way, where’s RHM disappeared to again? Injured again? I would love Crouch on a 12 month deal personally. With Elmo and Snodgrass on the flanks I’m sure Crouch would be a great addition! And do we need another LB.
What do you guys think?
Crouch??
No pace, not great in the air, on silly money and would encourage SB to go route one.
Thanks but no thanks.
Fair enough comment. But I do think he can hold the ball quite well allowing our midfielders to get forward….similar to what Davis did against Norwich. I think its the thought of Gabby being brought back in that worries me the most!
And right in cue….Crouch has just scored the equaliser for Stoke lol
Imo he’s not as mobile as Davis, he (Crouch) has got a fantasic touch for a big fella but he can’t do what a Davis or say a Lukaku can.
But saying that if it’s between him or Shabby then get him in.
Absolutely not, why obstruct Davis’ first team run? He should be playing every game he can, what’s the point of bringing in the youngsters only to drop them again? Also Hogan is better suited to the game we want to play, sick of target men and route one football.
If you bother to read my posts you would see that I post neither positive nor negative but try to put forward a balanced view.
JV accused me of being ‘happy with a point (at Bristol)’ but nowhere have I said that. I felt Badger had over reacted with ‘shocking’ but noted that I was disappointed with the draw.
I stand by my view that their goal was offside (but also said I was not offering thus as an excuse) – if JV or anyone else for that matter disagrees – fine BUT why call me a bellend?
Hitch….agreed mate! Your posts always come accross as ‘balanced’ as far as I’m concerned! And yes, I probably look too positive to some! But I did slate the team for the displays in both Cardiff and Reading…..my criticism is generally aimed at lack of effort/desire etc. We have had a good 7’days IMO 2 wins, a draw and 9 goals scored! There are many, many clubs that would love to replicate that! But alas, thats not good enough for some who cant wait to criticise or be negative to the point where it borders on the ludicrous!
UTV
Get some perspective on this ffs, Millwall have just put 4 past Norwich with a squad with a combined worth of Β£8.51m compared to our Β£85.95m. (/www.transfermarkt.co.uk)
Agreed, we are not doing well enough, yet! Only 10% of the season gone though….dont worry, I’ll be moaning if we are not in contention by the end of October. Norwich are in trouble….but they did play better against us according to the media π
What can you read into the Doc’s tweet “September will be crucial for us.β
If the results don’t go our way SB could be in trouble?
I’m waiting until the end if October to see how much we progress!
That’s a fair point BWS but trying to compare games is always tricky. As far as I’m concerned we won 4-2 on the back of two rubbish away performances and short of our best forward so that’s OK
Criticsm of the performance would be acceptable if we had lost the game! As I’ve posted before there is room for improvement – particularly the lack of clean sheets.
However, I’m prepared to cut Terry / Whelan some slack. Remember the criticsm of Jedinak over his first half dozen games – and his influence after that?
Look I have no particular brief for Bruce but I hope he succeeds because the one thing we need desperately is some continuity and stability.
Hitch you’ll get no argument from me mate, I hope Bruce goes into follow in the footsteps of SIR RON and George Ramsey, why wouldn’t I want him to succeed?
As for the comparison with Millwall and Villa it was more to highlight how poor Norwich are and perhaps we shouldn’t get carried away with the result.
Again excellent point BWS – like we shouldn’t have got carried away with the win over Rotherham.
One thing I would draw attention to is that appointing a young foreign manager is not a panacea for all our ills.
Re the Norwich game it should of been a dam sight more than 4 goals it wasn’t so it’s a case of coulder shudder wooder. Yes Norwich are piss poor & possibly the first manager to be chopped imo
I think them 4 games the doc means in sept are major. without rubbishing other teams we play. I think we are all looking at them and thinking nothing less than12 points. don’t know about sb in trouble, depends on how ruthless the doc is and how bad we do in the next 4. but if we don’t collect max then the rest of the season is uphill
I think we need one more players and its a forward type. somebody who can hold the ball up like davis. i am not endorsing long ball game. a player that can link up midfield and attack, we lack this type. Hogan can but its not his strongest asset. gabby can’t McCormack off with a decent off. kodjia can but he likes to get behind defences not linking up play
I thought Gallagher would be perfect for us. don’t think crouch is mobile like bws says. It may depend on reducing squad now and making do with davis until kodjia returns
McCormack off with a decent offer (was supposed to read)
Interesting comments by Snodgrass on Bilic playing him out of position – something Bruce is not innocent over.
It’s a point that has been subject to a lot of comment on here. I hope Bruce is listening and taking note.
ANDREW
Re: Foreign managers V British managers after 6 games:
Benitez/De Boer = 3 Points
Pulis/Hughes = 11 Points
You’ve reduced the deficit by 1 point.
International break!
I do love how you’re picking out the current two worst Foreign managers. Sadly though, every single British manager in the league combined don’t have the success of Benitez. So this comparison is moot.
By worst, I mean worst teams. I’d take Benitez right now if offered.
Andrew….NO, I picked the 2 managers that you ‘waxed lyrical’ about on many occasions. I also offered you the opportunity to choose ANY combination of the British managers in the PL,
I’ve also waxed lyrical on Koeman and Ponchettino pre-Southampton and Wagner all last season and this summer as well as Marco Silva all summer but it’s convenient how you forget those names but you keep harping on about two of about a hundred managers I’ve harped on about over the years. If that makes you feel better to attempt to prove my want for someone different than the crap British managers we always go for, sure.
If it makes you feel any better, I still stand by the stance I’d take Dyche any day.
