Oh dear, oh dear, what to say?
I had the game on Radio WM, but the site’s SSL security certificate ran out which meant that you were probably seeing a warning about the site being unsafe. Let me reassure you, it isnt.
Anyway, I updated the certificate, only for the site to crash, which meant I was working on that and didn’t really concentrate on the commentary.
Hence any real assessment is vague at best, but the general tone of the commentary was easy to catch and when you hear “worrying”, “no shape” and “poor” etc, you have to be concerned.
I’ve said previously that our first few fixtures are tough and I hinted that I didn’t think we’d have many points racked up, which would probably lead to fans calling for Bruce’s head.
But from what I’ve seen on various other Villa sites, it seems the clamour has started already.
Now of course, it’s still very early days, but we’re already five points down on the league leaders and you have to wonder how much of a lead we might be able to pull back before it’s too late to challenge.
The most single worrying thing today was the comment that “Cardiff are a very average side, that will finish around tenth at best, yet they still beat us comfortably”.
So where does that leave us?
By the sounds of it, Warnock did his homework and targeted our right side, meaning Hutton had a shocker.
But more worryingly, it seems our defence was utter rubbish today, something I find strange given that we are supposed to have beefed it up. Words like “slow” maybe justify why some of us were concerned by Terry’s signing.
And just maybe my viewpoint about playing our “best” eleven so they get to know each other was also justified?
I don’t know.
As I said, it’s early days. Nothing is certain yet and Cardiff away is never going to be an easy game.
But we have another tough game coming up, away to Reading.
Are we confident that we’ll get anything there?
We need to start gaining points, even if they’re only single one’s because if we don’t, the season will be over before it’s really up and running.
I wonder what Tony Xia is thinking?
No reasonable owner is going to sack a manager this early, but you have to wonder how many poor performances he’ll tolerate.
I’m also intrigued as to how some of our more positive posters are going to react to this result.
I expect some very lively debate!
Every day with Bruce is a day wasted, Tony should be on the phone within an hour of the FT whistle with the P45
Saw about 31 mins of an absolute shower of shyte if charlie chan does not pull the trigger on this absolute shyte of a manager bruce then we all know this whole thing is one big fu ckin con we may well have got leslie chow as our owner from the hangover film because he would do a better job in fact sack that, leslie chow would do a better job as manager scout ceo trainer coach everything because the current setup is the wirst i ever seen in my entire fu ckin life and that includes a bunch of sissies i once saw kicking a ball in malaysia.
Ive been told by boss to punctuate my speeches i am sorry i just get passionate and i forget but to sum up one of the most highly costed assembled bunch of fu ckin halfwits who have no fitness no spatial awareness no willing no shape and the dinosaur there on the touchline with absolutely no clue no hope just collecting that fat paycheck so he can chase that kebab van tonight for an extra large one with chili sauce, lets face it thats all he is good for filling his fat face with greasy kebab because he sure aint a football manager this shower of shyte i swear if he not given the fu cckin bullet tomorrow and sent packing i am giving up on football altogether and may as well watch cartoons
I see you took the advice about punctuating your speeches. It’s a lot easier to understand now you’ve used 2 paragraphs. Good effort.
This is not good enough.
Its enough with me, he has to go now please, no method in his play and selections, out of his depth and has no answer to it.
So predictable. Bruce is utterly useless. Stability? Stick with Bruce? God give me strength. Anybody who can defend this bloke needs a head check.
We are so static, it’s unreal.
Where’s the movement?
Aston bastard villa bottom of the fuc kin fizzy pop league only the MIGHTY Burton Albion propping them up
Read that again the nob jockeys that are still brice fanboys and love all he does for the club one word: F UCK OFF
can you believe that shyte I have just ritten and can you fu ckin believe that sentance has been ritten we are ASTON VILLA what is happenin to OUR club i swear now if i see the day trippers on saturday cheering i will throw them down the aisle we need to make a stand against this utter shyte and get
DINOSAUR BEUCE OUT
not happy then jd join the club ,never wanted him leeds last december was enough forme
6 goals against and 1 for , put the friendlies in the pot that alone gives me the idea he’s not the man. No manager would think he would be in a job with them stats.
Interesting how the “foreign whipping boys” of Wolves have now beaten Boro, Derby and Hull with ease, and were getting whipped with ease by Cardiff and Reading.
Game on 2-1
fightback on…LOL
It was a nice goal.
The thing that honestly amazes me is how people were positive before the start of the season. I just don’t understand it as I saw this coming a mile off.
Last season we were garbage, we won 4 away games all season, 2 of them against the worst teams in the division by a mile, we didn’t put two halves together once and failed to score more than 2 goals under Bruce in any game. Even the games we won, we were painful and boring to watch.
Without Kodija, we have nobody to create anything out of nothing and bail us out. We spend the entirety of games hoofing the ball with no plan, style or substance, exactly like last season.
In Terry, we’ve signed someone who is now the scalp and target of every young forward in the division and the rest of the signings are has-beens like Whelan or mercenaries like Samba.
I honestly cant imagine a worse job being done, the whole Bruce era has been a disaster and the fact fans still defend him on the premise of a historical record is bizarre…. do people not understand the championship has evolved immensely over the past few years. The Steve Bruce mentality of “battling and keeping it tight” is nonsense and outdated. The game has left him behind.
Every home game is the same, we either take the lead, sit back and the opposition pounce or we fail to break them down.
Every away game is the same, we miss a good chance, fall behind, then offer nothing and end up losing comfortably whilst giving away possession endlessly. its the same shit every week and will continue to be, the club is still complete and utter shambles i’m afraid to say. It needed ripping up from top to bottom, the fact we still have Gabby in the team says everything you need to know about how that complete clearout has gone.
So you’re telling me, that the experience of Bruce, Calderwood, Terry and Whelan is just not panning out? But come on. Bruce is a Championship winning manager. 4 PROMOTIONS is all I keep reading. I’d assume that experience kept the scoreline to only conceding two, and if we went with any foreign manager, they’d have conceded at least… 3.
Good thing the other greats – Big Sam and Pardew are waiting the in wings. Sleep well…
That the worrying part… eventually Bruce will go but Tony is being advised so badly it wouldn’t surprise me if they brought in another of yesterdays men.
That is incredibly worrying. I do think Wyness would want them to get one of similar stature to Bruce. Might even try to get Moyes in which would suck.
you missed out plan b is send samba on,plan c when 2 0 down put hutton for crying out loud bruce gives us an reason
Very poor again. Same lack of effort as I witnessed at Cardiff!
Has Bruce list the dressing room…serious question?
Bruce has never had the dressing room. Gabby controls that department.
You’d have to assume so. Other than maybe like Terry, Whelan, Elmo, Johnstone. Most of the players don’t look happy at all playing the way they’re set up to play.
i need a new cpu not responding messages freezing to fook I spent most of game fixing that. I caught the last 25mins damage was done in the previous minutes that I missed, iam sure I will hear we were shit. we were shit from what little I saw. you cant allow a shit team like reading to pass around at the back. good goal from houriane. but we are doomed and its seems to be getting worse . what happened to Hogan.
Bruce out. He has wasted his one and only chance with a big club. We are now going to fall off the cliff into the footballing wilderness. The chinese believed they where going to go straight up first time of asking. If it doesnt happen this season all bets are off and they will walk away. It will be lerner mark 2.
that is what I said before and is our worst nightmare. Chinese owner will jump ship after this season. they will get out and cut their losses, after they sell off all the players. its all on this season. I love a bet but never all in
If Tony walks there is a real chance of Villa turning into a Leeds Utd.
your right marvin 🙁
It’s awful to watch…back, sideways, back….and to think Westwood was hounded out for doing just that! We have learnt nothing. Either take the game to the opposition or don’t bother turning up! Fecking awful to watch…..Bruce has the next 3 games to sort it or he must go!
Enough is enough!
Bruce has never known his best squad which is the real problem.
It pains me to say thus but it seems others may have judged Bruce better than those of us who thought he could deliver promotion. Thing is I’m old enough and ugly enough to accept it when I’m wrong.
To be frank I don’t think there is any point in giving him another three games – another decent man broken on the reef that is Aston Villa.
More to the point though – who is there actually available that we can employ or who would want to have anything to do with the shipwreck at VP?
Sherwood, Pardew, Big Sam …….. OK so I’m not being serious
I’ll leave it to those clever posters who ‘knew this would happen’ to tell us who we should now appoint – over to you fellas!
good post hitch ,problem is its late now most managers would been available end last season
Hitch, I’ll go along with that.the friendly games should have told him to wake up or piss off, i cannot see him being the man to run our club now, I’ll also go along with Langfords post has he lost the dressing room, yes he has not able to make his point to players he’s just a showmanship excuse of a manager.he must go now .
Haven’t been on for a while.
I have been trying to wake from this eternal nightmare.
Pick your best team and stick with it. We have not had a settled team for years.
what are the next three games. ??? I think the Chinese will not give him anymore time or games. they will be plotting another manager behind his back, only hope they get it right this time,
who ever comes in. needs to get to work repairing the clubs confidence. players looked clueless and gutless. it wouldn’t surprise me to hear bruce has left the club. i reckon he will walk before he gets pushed.
Got told off for shouting …again…this time….”you bloody goals down the other end for christ sake “…..with 5 mins to go…….1st time we got clear on the wing with someone in box and we score….SIMPLE AINT IT.
Even I have had enough of SB.
I just stepped off the plane from holiday and spent two hours driving home from the airport listening to TalkSPORT 2.
Both commentators for Reading V Villa were looking forward to watching us play. Straight off they commentated they could not understand why Villa were playing so deep. Quote ‘they are not set up to win”. This led to my family being subjected to “ffs”! How can we achieve promotion when SB does not look to attack.
I believe a senior figure in our club stated we need at least 80 goals. 3 matches and 2 goals later and only 1 strike on target at Cardiff, we are way off the pace.
Six months SB said he had not cracked the away form. SB you joined on October 12 2106. By my reckoning you have had 10 months. Green is the only player from our first match in The Championship (Sheffield Wednesday) to have played tonight. Further 8 /11 starting players were signed by SB. He had now signed 12 players and still does not know his best 11.
Dr Xia, please call a taxis for SB and take him away from Villa Park. Who replaces SB I don’t know. But please let them play attacking football. Please let some of the Under 23 players have a chance. Please let us have some hope.
UTV
Sid….thats exactly the way that I see it! Ffs, what is happening to this great club when we’re scared to attack the likes of Reading Cardiff etc? This is more about performances than results. You can lose a great game 2-1 but not a game where we rarely threatened and had no attacking intent from the off. Sitting deep and constantly passing sideways and backwards should only be happening when you have a comfortable lead, and we’re never going to get one playing like that!
