Carles Gil has finally signed for Aston Villa with agent fee’s finally being sorted after an initial issue early Tuesday morning. Gil arrives from Valencia for a fee of £3.4 million. The 22 year old midfielder can play either behind the striker or out wide on both wings. Paul Lambert describes Gil as the creative spark that Villa have lacked throughout the season.
Gils has made 9 appearances for Valencia this season scoring 1 goal. Last season he played with Carlos Sanchez at Elche. Gil is described as a very tactical play with very impressive dribbling skills, however it’s noted that Gil’s shooting ability still needs some work.
“We’ve been on the lookout for a creative player and he will certainly bring that extra element to the side,”
“He’s only 22 years of age but he will come here and give us something I don’t think we have at the moment. He can play either role, coming in off the sides or playing in behind as well.

With Paul Lambert finally signing a creative attacking midfield I sure hope that it will result in a few more goals for Aston Villa this season. The addition of another winger would make the squad just that much stronger for the second portion of the season.

I’m far from writing him off before he’s kicked a ball (kind of oohahh-esque) and I hope he’s awesome but there’s a niggling doubt I can’t shake.

I thought exactly the same thing when I watched his YouTube clip , I really hope he can add some spark to the side though , but let’s be honest it’s gonna take more than him , drastic changes are needed and the quickest fix is to get rid of Lambert , a new brush sweeps clean springs to mind .

Like Albrighton, Weimann, Gabby, Lowton, Tonev, Bacuna etc etc Lambert will no doubt destroy the lad. From what i have seen of him he is a quality player but for me, he’s made a huge mistake coming to us at this moment in time. Best thing that could happen to him is Lambert gets sacked. Hope i’m wrong.

83 potential on fifa15 .. I am sold .. 😛 no I hope people don’t look to him to solve all our problems but he may have a bigger impact off the field with fresh blood and a different at the very least attacking mindset .. cue the lambert will ruin him replies i suppose ..
but good news, I am willing to give me till next season assuming we are still in the prem league to settle or really judge him

There’s people on Twitter saying a director of football is coming in soon, Tom Fox was brought in to steady the ship all because if we stay up this season then we will be sold. All stuff we’ve heard before.
I read about the director of football, it was to allow Lambert more time on the training ground and so that he no longer controls everything to do with the football side of things at Villa park, including players/contracts. Like O’Neill had.

Sounds like a signing to appease supporters and get off lamberks back on Saturday. From what iv read he sounds quite talented but not physical enough for prem. Never seen him play or even heard of him so no idea

I feel for this lad as I am struggling to have any interest or motivation – not because of him but for these reasons:
1. Lerner allowing Lambert to spend more money clearly shows he still has faith in him
2. Every creative player PL has signed or coached he has managed to strangle any creativity out of them.
3. It pushes Grealish even further down the pecking order.
4. He will carry huge expectations to turn our dross into a decent team
5. The cash would be better spent on Lambert’s pay off and a new coaching team.
but good luck to him, you never know…..
I share all those thoughts RW except 3. Carles seems to be a right sided player who cuts in onto his left foot. Grealish is a left sided player – so no reason why those two should not replace Gabby and Tom.

The comparisons to Tonev are absolutely ridiculous. Tonev was a shoot on sight player, whereas Gil runs with the ball. I’ve seen the lad play, and I have family over in Valencia who are disgusted the club has let him go for such a small fee. Never mind his 1 goal and 2 assists last year that people are whinging about, it’s the 40 chances created that should get us excited! We need goals, chances get you goals, Gil will bring chances to the team. He won’t hit the ground running so give him time.

App Carles Gil is meant to be similar to Isco.He has pace,dribbling ability and is really creative.He should start against Liverpool hope he does well.Nice to see them addressing the creativity issue.There could be more in lets hope so utv

So we were one of 8ish interested in bringing Defoe back to England, however Sunderland are offering him a whopping 80k a week to play for them. Now I’ve never wanted him here, but I do think he’d fit in well next to Benteke, but Sunderland blowing everyone out of the water with such a ridiculous wage. Of course if this is true. Would explain how they’re beating Tottenham and Liverpool to him.
