Dutch news sources have been reporting that Karim El Ahmadi has rejoined Feyenoord for £750,000. This news comes from Voetball which has generally been a reliable news source for Dutch football. Earlier in August, El Ahmadi admitted that he was homesick and was looking to move back to the Netherlands once his contract had expired. Well it appears as though he will be moving earlier than that. He is yet to appear for Aston Villa this season and has yet to make an appearance on the bench, so it seems very likely that he would be moving this transfer window.
El Ahmadi was Paul Lamberts first signing for Aston Villa and joined the club for a fee of roughly £2 million. In his first season he made 24 appearances and scored 1 goal, in his second made 22 appearances scoring 2 goals. El Ahmadi did score in Villa’s 3-2 win over Man. City last season, and that will most likely be his greatest contribution to the club.
But despite some negativity towards the Moroccan midfielder, he wasn’t a poor player. He put in a good shift in midfield and did add something to the team, he wouldn’t have been a bad squad player should he have stayed this season. I don’t think he would’ve been offered a new contract since he hasn’t quite done enough to earn one. El Ahmadi always put in a shift so he won’t be forgotten as a complete flop.
Didn’t look a bad one, got up n limped away.
