FA cup: Wycombe vs Villa….Surely we can win this one?

Wycombe

I have absolutely no faith in the Villa getting a win when we’re facing Premier league opposition lately, but surely we can beat a League two team, can’t we?
I wouldn’t be so sure.

Wycombe aren’t doing too badly this season and they currently lie in 6th position, but this is a side that lost 2-0 at home to Morecambe last week, so with all due respect, this is a game we ought to be winning at a canter.
But it’s the FA cup, which we all know isn’t called the great leveler for nothing.
I won’t even mention our recent cup history against lesser clubs.

So given that I won’t be surprised at whatever happens when it comes to the result today, the more important thing for me, is how Remi Garde is going to approach this.

Normally, I’d be expecting a few players to be rested so we can give a few of the second string a run out, but I think this is something we definitely shouldn’t do.
Why? Because a win would do the first eleven a world of good and can only boost confidence, which has been shot to pieces.
I suppose there is an argument in saying that if we were to lose, confidence will take an even bigger dent, but I still think we should go all out to win.

With Alan Hutton being injured, the other interesting point is who is going to play at right back?
The Evening Mail ran an article where Garde was asked about Micah Richards playing there and the response was that the manager had been thinking about it for a few weeks.
Seeing as many fans have been calling for exactly that to happen for months, I’m really beginning to wonder about our manager and what his thinking is.
It’s simply something that should have at least been tried a long time ago.

I’m not going to go into Wycombe’s squad as I doubt any of us know much about them, but it’s noted that their goalkeeper is out because of a suspension and this means their 46 year old coach is on the bench.

As for us, Hutton and Sanchez are both out, but the good news is Jordan Ayew is back and I’d expect him to start, along with Gestede. If the latter can’t batter a second division defence we might as well just give up totally.

Prediction time then and I’ve said nothing would surprise me.
Can anyone see us keeping a clean sheet, even against such lowly opposition, for instance?
I can’t, so expect Wycombe to get one.

I’ll go for a 2-1 win.

Good news Hutton is out, now shift Richards to right back which is a plus already. Garde really is a prat if he can’t get a win, 0% win ratio in 2 months is a joke, sherwood would have one at least 1 of these games. There is enough in the squad to at least fluke a win but noooooo. Look at Bournemouth, looking to do the kind of business we should have done in the summer, pathetic the whole situation. Has to be a win today doesn’t it?

Honestly I don’t know Badger, its not the fact Hutton out, its the team in General, they don’t show fight or positional awareness, years ago my sports club put on trips to matches Birmingham fans off to their match and Villa to their game and meet up after.I cannot generate excitement today because I don’t know.I’ll be watching and hopefully we will win and its for my grandkids to get back what’s gone. 2-1 Villa fingers crossed.

I just hope a ball flys into the crowd, hitting Randy Lerner in the face just as he’s eating from a very sharp fork…The fork punctures a small blood vessel and balloons into a swelling the turns half of his face into a medicine ball sized appendage that cannot be removed by surgery, magic or prayer.
Although Lerner remains healthy, the addition to his appearance humiliates him for the rest of his days, in much the same way he has made AVFC a laughing stock.

At least that **** is not playing in goal. Big chance for Bunn to take over the jersey for EPL games. Richards is supposed to be playing RB but I wait to see if he has the self discipline to play there.

Why not start CISSOKHO and KOZAK? They need game time for crying out loud. Sinclair / Westwood / Richardson – WHY WHY WHY????

I used to think most people on here moaned excessively and sometimes unnecessarily – I can’t stop myself any more, can’t see any positives in anything Villa.

    Definitely staying up!!!

Looking at the lineup, some improvements, but I still think we’ll lose.

Richards showing what’s wrong with our fullback position. Out of position, too far up, not watching his guy and jogging back, expecting Okore to cover him. That or he’s often like Hutton to central.

Fair enough. First time he gets forward he does that. Now if he was more disciplined at the back he’d be solid at Right Back.

I don’t get team he’s put out at all. I expected to see at least 5 reserve players in there. Look at Liverpool last night they virtually played their reserve team that’s why the FA cup is a joke
