Fulham 3-0 Villa; Steven Gerrard, get out of my club.

That’s what the fans sung at one stage and rightly so.

Fulham hadn’t kept a clean sheet this season. Until they played us.
And it was Fulham’s best win for nine years.
And then the woman commentator said that it was the best Fulham had played this season, in the first half.
Sorry missus, but you obviously haven’t watched us much and these are all just signs of how easy we are to play against.

I’ve seen tons of talk that Gerrard cannot possibly be in charge for the Brentford game, where we will no doubt get another shoeing.
Except I’m willing to bet my measly £85 betting money that was refunded from my Bet365 account, that he will.
And that leaves me thoroughly depressed.

So we’re now only out of the relegation places courtesy of goals scored. We’re probably lucky to be there and if Gerrard stays in charge we won’t be for long.

Make no mistake about it, we were thrashed by Fulham. Fulham, FFS!

I thought Luiz’ sending off for a headbutt was harsh, as it seemed to me Mitrovich made a similar movement, but the Brazilian was fractionally ahead of him, which made him look like the instigator.
I have to hold my hands up to the ref, as I struggled to decide 100% convincingly after watching it on my 65″ telly, yet he made his decision after seeing it on an Ipad.
Oh and coincidentally Mitrovic is on telly now with a 4″ gash on his forehead. Only kidding, there’s not a mark on him. Quelle surprise!

And then Cashes handball was also harsh, given how close he was when the ball was hit at him, but the defender’s arm was wide from his body and that seems the deciding factor these days.

But none of it matters.
We did nothing to make this an unlucky result and we soundly deserved our beating. Indeed, the mighty Fulham could easily have had another three or four goals.

And Mings own goal just capped it all off, for the 3-0 scoreline.

Still not one commentator has called Steven Gerrard out for how downright poor we’ve been tactically, while having no plan whatsoever.
Dublin has come close, but he’s laying plenty of blame at the players’ feet and he has a point.
It’s worth remembering that this is essentially the same bunch of players that got Smith the sack.

But a manager has to show some signs of knowing what he’s doing before you can blame them and my money says he hasn’t done that at all.

He simply has to go and the sooner the better.

Well the Villa support was wrong. Things move faster nowadays. “Sacked in the morning” chant needs to be updated. “Your going home in a Taxi” scans for someone who wasn’t going back on the team bus.

Wow that’s a great point OLL. I wonder what the atmosphere is like on the bus! I imagine they’re all saying how much they hated him.

      They should change it to…
“Make your own way home, make your own way home, you’re getting the sack, make you’re own way home”.

    John McGinn, being honest, said

Before Gerrard’s departure was revealed, captain John McGinn said: “It’s embarrassing to be part of. We’ve let the travelling fans down, the manager down. It’s a bad night for us.

“It doesn’t matter who’s in charge of that team. It’s nothing to do with the manager – the players have to look at themselves in the mirror. We’ve definitely not lost faith in [the manager] – it’s us who are responsible.

“He’s a top manager, he’s hurting just as the players are. We’ve let him down tonight. It’s up to us now to put in a performance for him.”

Its incredible to hear some of the things that Gerrard has been blamed for. Obviously I want to see Villa winning again but if its with mostly these same players it will be with my love for the club and not respect for those responsible.

McGinn’s form for Villa has been awful for the last 6-9 months.

Gerry, do you think he was just being magnanimous? McGinn is being respectful but at the end of the day it’s up to a Manager to get a team working. Gerrard’s approach just didn’t work. A nice sentiment from Meatball but that’s all. I know it was a one off, but how did Ranieri get Leicester to the top with the players at his disposal? Great management, just like Saunders.

Fantastic news and hopefully the muppets on the bench won’t be far behind him. Time for Purslow to go too or at worst shifted into a non football role.
Next appointment is vital. Preferably Pochettino but not someone who is learning on the job. Someone who can get the best out of the current squad and not devalue them. Someone who gives the talented youngsters like Archer some proper game time and not 5-10 minutes now and then.
Gerrard has already signed players with ever decreasing value like Coutinho and Digne. At least a new manager will have a chance to access his inherited squad before the January transfer window. We are in a relegation battle and make no mistake we aren’t too good to go down.
