Fulham 3-0 Villa; Steven Gerrard, get out of my club.

That’s what the fans sung at one stage and rightly so.

Fulham hadn’t kept a clean sheet this season. Until they played us.
And it was Fulham’s best win for nine years.
And then the woman commentator said that it was the best Fulham had played this season, in the first half.
Sorry missus, but you obviously haven’t watched us much and these are all just signs of how easy we are to play against.

I’ve seen tons of talk that Gerrard cannot possibly be in charge for the Brentford game, where we will no doubt get another shoeing.
Except I’m willing to bet my measly £85 betting money that was refunded from my Bet365 account, that he will.
And that leaves me thoroughly depressed.

So we’re now only out of the relegation places courtesy of goals scored. We’re probably lucky to be there and if Gerrard stays in charge we won’t be for long.

Make no mistake about it, we were thrashed by Fulham. Fulham, FFS!

I thought Luiz’ sending off for a headbutt was harsh, as it seemed to me Mitrovich made a similar movement, but the Brazilian was fractionally ahead of him, which made him look like the instigator.
I have to hold my hands up to the ref, as I struggled to decide 100% convincingly after watching it on my 65″ telly, yet he made his decision after seeing it on an Ipad.
Oh and coincidentally Mitrovic is on telly now with a 4″ gash on his forehead. Only kidding, there’s not a mark on him. Quelle surprise!

And then Cashes handball was also harsh, given how close he was when the ball was hit at him, but the defender’s arm was wide from his body and that seems the deciding factor these days.

But none of it matters.
We did nothing to make this an unlucky result and we soundly deserved our beating. Indeed, the mighty Fulham could easily have had another three or four goals.

And Mings own goal just capped it all off, for the 3-0 scoreline.

Still not one commentator has called Steven Gerrard out for how downright poor we’ve been tactically, while having no plan whatsoever.
Dublin has come close, but he’s laying plenty of blame at the players’ feet and he has a point.
It’s worth remembering that this is essentially the same bunch of players that got Smith the sack.

But a manager has to show some signs of knowing what he’s doing before you can blame them and my money says he hasn’t done that at all.

He simply has to go and the sooner the better.

I have praised the owners for all they have done so far but ignoring the current situation is a massive mistake. The saying is the buck stops at the top and rightly so. If Purslow doesn’t call time then they need to outrank him and call time on the Scouse failed experiment.

Could do worse than give Dean Smith another shot at it.

    Ashley Preece reported:
Understand Nassef Sawiris furious with what he witnessed tonight and walked out of the directors’ box after Douglas Luiz’s red card. Christian Purslow quickly followed after Mitrovic made it 2-0.

That’s it Gerrard will be sacked in the morning and I reckon Purslow is sweating if he has a job tomorrow. Probably he will be sacked at the end of the summer.

Sid, this is a huge moment in Villa’s history. I’d say the ‘biggest’ managers in terms of reputation and stature we have hired in living memory are Atkinson and O’Neill. Both came with a massive wave of optimism and excitement, and they didn’t disappoint. The club now need to eclipse those two ‘heavy-weight’ appointments with the club’s biggest ever. The only way to make progress at the top these days is with a world class coach orchestrating the team. Surely, it’s time for Pochettino or Tuchel. Emery also has huge stature in the game, but I think the previous two are a better fit.

Tuchel had a reputation within Chelsea that was a bit ‘odd’ – (I have two die-hard Chelsea fans in the extended family, season tickets, all the away games, etc.,) – he was apparently ‘difficult’ and even ‘childish’ dealing with the people above him, threw tantrums when they gave him what he asked for, but then was supposed to accept some responibilty when his choices proved not to work…

Pochettino or Emery seem like a better bet.

Ah, didn’t know that, Ardent. His record is excellent, though. Maybe Emery is a good bet, the more I think about it. But I can’t shake the feeling Poch and Villa could be a match made in heaven.

    A single malt is required!

I know he’s a human being and the pressure is tough, but bottom line is he wasn’t up to the job and will receive a pay off of more money than any of us will ever be able to dream of.

Oh happy, happy day! Two clowns have been dispatched on the same day. Maybe ITV can get these two muppets together and come up with the Liz ‘n’ Stevie show. I’m thinking ‘Canon and Ball’ but more f*****up.

p.s. glad to see you guys’ comments about Bailey; I tried to tell you on Sunday!

POCH IN! AND I’D TAKE TUCHEL! BUT POCH IN!

Tonight was as bad as the Remi Garde days.

Get a proven top manager in, given him the resources and let’s move forward.

We need to stop with this sack the manager culture at our club. We need to make sure we get the right manager this time. Was not my choice as I thought we should have tried to lure Brendan Rodgers from Leicester at the time. Got behind Gerard and looked like it might be a good gamble after the first few months. We have a better squad than the results and performances reflect. With the right recruitment this time we have an opportunity to really push on and i dont think major changes are needed to get a tune out of these players. I really think the players new he was out of his depth.

Ron Saunders was a taskmaster at Villa and Unai Emery gets called a taskmaster could be the right chemistry for Villa and a Europa League winning expert.

That’s a very terse statement by the club.
We desperately need some ‘love’ at VP. An injection of positivity is vital.
Disagree with Brendan Rogers saying he would’ve been a success given time. They just look out for themselves and their mates, which is what we’d do I guess…
