Stephen Ireland is set to complete a permanent move to Stoke City this month. Ireland’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season but Aston Villa will not get a fee for the Irish man. Instead Villa are set to save more £200,000 on Irelands wages. Hughes wanted to make Ireland’s move permanent so Stoke could be able to sign another player on loan. Ireland has enjoyed first team football under Hughes and hasn’t done all that poorly.
Ireland has definitely struggled at Aston Villa and never really made an impact. I will admit I was pretty excited to have Ireland at Aston Villa and I truly believed he would make a real impact at the club. Unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be. Ireland joined Aston Villa as part of a £26 million deal that saw James Milner move to Man. City
“I’ve got no issue with Stephen at all, I never have done,” said Lambert.
“I don’t want to stop anyone from playing football.
“I think they’re trying to do something at the minute, so I’ll just wait and see. It’s up to the clubs really between them how they’re going to do it.” – Paul Lambert
Good riddence,i was going to say good news on the wages side of things but for who?
Good news for us! It will mean there will be more room on the wage list. So we could see a Premier League player at our club this January
Adam i wouldn’t be so optimistic mate, lerners seems to be screwing down the clubs expenditure.
Adam you’re dreaming again my friend, as for Ireland given away for the wages, he never ever put on a pair of boots for Villa, just now wait and see for his comments on Villa come out, just like he did from Man CTY as for Prem players who would come to Villa Park?
I reckon both teams want to make this move permanent. Aston Villa are offering a free transfer for Ireland at this stage of the season. It’s a good offer for Stoke.
Ireland also wants to make the move permanent.
no great loss for us. personally I was never excited to see Ireland come to us because he clearly didn’t want to, that is no way to sign a footballer, we lost a form quality England international for a moaning child spitting his dummy out season after season, the guy has no balls!
yes the wages are going down, dunne, cuellar, Collins, given, Ireland and with bent on loan great, so how come we’re still trying to buy league 2 players and mediocre prem players instead of replacing these guys with quality?
NM simple answer Lerner. Lerner out
Actually, when Ireland moved here he was pretty excited. I remember some of his interviews, he completely slated City and praised Aston Villa.
ireland has not tried one bean at villa. he should return his wages. hope he enjoys it at stoke but I won’t wish him any luck, wot so. totally wrong player 4 our club. hate 2 think of the total cost of this brainless transfer sold a hard worker goal scoring chance creator 4 a waste of space and a leach
fuck off 2 stoke or coventry
He lied about not playing for his country ,that should of been enough but what the fuck we sign him, like fuckin idiots we sign him . Shit player and a prick .seen him in Kingdom nightclub in Liverpool last year lording it with his missus arms outstretched bottleof champers in each hand ,cant believe he got out of there alive fuckin hate the fact that this shit footballer has played for my ,our VILLA.PS have a good weekend bloggers.
Wasn’t signing Ireland another one of Paul Faulkners amazing deals !
yes it was, at the time milner was one of the best midfielders in the country, a young England international that WE had picked up, encouraged and had faith in and as usual teams like man city come along and say ‘hey, heres a good player, the finished article, lets throw loads of money at hm, sign him then hardly play him and just keep him for league cup games and that shit’
when we rightly told man city we wanted shed loads of dosh(of which they have plenty as we all know)city said, ‘I know why don’t you take this player and a few quid, he don’t really want to play for you though but give it a go’ and Faulkner said ‘oh yes please what a brilliant deal’.
personally id have made the twats pay 30 million for him, they would’ve paid it too, cash flash knob heads who know the price of everything but the value of nothing!
