Jedinak in, good signing and Lescott out, good riddance

It’s official then and Mile Jedinak is now a Villa player.
This is a great signing in my opinion and one that’s been designed to give us some decent bite in midfield, which we’ve lacked for far too long. Or at least since we had a snake in our midst.
While I have my concerns that he’s nearing the end of his career and he’s probably high up on our wage earnings list (he must be, to drop down a division), he’s exactly what we need.
Couple him with Elphick and we now have two fighters in our side who will not let heads drop in the way they have over the last year or so.
Add the fact that it seems the Crystal Palace players are not happy with Jedinak being replaced as captain,
it bodes well and I totally welcome him to the club.

Combine it with Westwood leaving in his place and I’d be chuffed. But I don’t think that will happen although I can always hope.

Other good news is that Lescott is odds on to be on his way out, with Rangers’ boss Mark Warburton having met him for talks in Manchester.
There is mention that they’re willing to offer him £10,000 a week, which is a big drop on what he currently earns at the Villa, even if his wages, as suggested, have been halved as part of a relegation clause.
So he won’t be leaving for anywhere near free, as much as we all want, as surely we’ll have to pay him the equivalent of what he stands to lose.
Fair play to Xia, he said he’d pay to get rid and it would seem he will actually do it.

There’s also talk that Sunderland might be interested in the player too, but I’d suggest that’s a weak link, purely down to Moyes being the manager.

While I think it’s a great move for the Villa, because Lescott has been awful overall, I also find it a bit sad.
It might not have seemed like it, but we shouldn’t forget he’s actually a Villa fan.

Remember Yedlin having a good World Cup in 2014, especially in that epic USA Belgium match.

I’m guessing he’s struggled to make an impact with Walker and Trippier ahead of him at Spurs.

I can’t recall many of his appearances when he was on loan at Sunderland but Big Sam must have had a positive influence when they shored things up in the latter half of the season.

Is rapid going forward too, bit of a mirror image of Amavi.

Would you not keep him as back up in that position & get rid of Richards first? It is a long old season with games coming thick and fast. We are a bit light in that position!

Good point SCV – yes would keep in preference to Richards definitely. Bacuna has shown, in flashes, he can play in an attacking right sided role. I was thinking about his problems with the fans last season but Richards was worse!

Have to say that the comings and goings, slow to start off with, have been beyond my expectations. Agree with others that a RB is what’s needed now.

    Still, some brilliant deals done.

Shame Randy didn’t exit stage left last season we may have kept us in the top flight but still exciting times to be a Villan.
There’s a momentum about the club that’s been absent for many a year.

Still need some more quality in midfield. Jedinak will get injured or suspended who have we got to replace him. Nobody.

    Yep, definitely momentum, BWS.
And something that could be improved with even more communication, imo.

    I’ve just actually sent one of them tweet things asking if it might be possible for one of the players to blog, similar to here;

    http://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/rotherham-united/richard-wood-column-the-rotherham-united-defender-on-long-journeys-coffee-and-jon-taylor-s-rap-song-1-8076511

For me to entertain Twitter, things must be improving, as normally I wouldn’t touch the info seeking bag of crap with a bargepole.

People really need to relax on twitter. “Are we getting more than one more?” “Are more coming in?” “Can we get another transfer or two?” He’s answered every single one and good on Xia for doing so but it’s gotta be getting annoying answering the same stupid questions over and over.

With 40M spent so far, I reckon the good Doctor has employed a professional thumb-twiddler to man his Twitter account at something less than £1000 a week.

BWS – answer to your earlier comment. Oh for another Des Bremner – unsung hero of our success in the 80’s. Remember Sir Ron buying him and everyone said ‘Des Who’! Underlines that you need a team playing together not a bunch of prima donna’s

I really hope we can pull off the Yedlin deal if true. What a statement that would show, apparently his in negotiations with Derby and if we can swoop in and seal the deal that will show the competition we mean business.

Mile Jedinak will not be available for selection when Aston Villa take on Derby County tomorrow.

The 32-year-old is still waiting for his his registration to be completed following his £4m move from Crystal Palace earlier this week.

Paper-work relating to his UK Visa is causing the hold-up. However, there won’t be any issues and Jedinak is expected to be available for the trip to Bristol City next Saturday. Yedlin is still in balance of who he choose.

The Football Bum, as epitomised by NZ and Gabby, looks in the mirror every morning and has to admit to himself he is past it, whatever ability he had to justify a Premiership contract has gone. One of the most frightening things he faces is that – in order to keep drawing the fat pay packet until his contract expires – he might have to play football in front of a paying crowd. He would rather hide on the sick list or be ostracised to the bomb squad than move to the starting 11 at another club. Rangers fans are not known for their patience with English has-beens, dusky ones especially.

Agree I must say its the best pairing we’ve had for donkeys years. Neither seem error prone either. Though cissoko worries me and so does keeper. Also if one of our centre halves are injured we will be in trouble but with jedinak we will be strong down the spine which is the basis of a decent team

And we’ve missed 2 absolute sitters. Same ol garbage. Thankfully this is a shit league with some tremendously terrible teams that will see us ok.
