We need a creative midfielder or two , that should be our priority !

It’s nice that we’re being linked to decent players, but does anyone seriously think we’ll pay the kind of wages decent players command?
    I can’t see it myself.

And as has been said, why aren’t we being linked to what we really need?

What Villa need is a owner with vision and a manager who knows something about football.None of these targets will materalise as long as Lerner & Lambert are at VP it;s just bullshit.

I think big Premier League Club takeovers is a thing of the past. Who can compete with Chelsea and Man City owners investments and the revenue Man United, Arsenal and Liverpool bring in?

The Champions League door closed years ago as Spurs keep finding out.

Lerner will never sell unless it’s worth his while and probably never be able to sell and he knows it.

Football is a bad investment ask QPR, Blackburn, Portsmouth, Leeds, Blues owners and I bet Mike Ashley regrets the day he set foot north of Watford.

I know I’m probably way off the mark but did anyone else read into Lambert’s comments about Young’s diving? Like he was trying to keep him sweet. Can’t see it happening like but still, thought that was strange.

i could defo see a penalty awaded due to youngs antics so maybe there’s something in it DM, coz anyone who can say young isn’t a diving cheating waste of talent without pissing themselves laughing has got to be taking the piss surely.
on the subject I doubt any of these targets will materialize although this constant search for a striker, bentekes poor form but more worryingly his seeming lack of enthusiasm, maybe he is off in jan which would give us money to spend if the right player is out there at the time.
anyone actually got any ideas of who we could or should sign either in jan or the closed season?

Lads.. can’t see us getting either in Jan..

De Bryne will go to Germany IMO.. Gueidetti we don’t need right now with Benteke and Kozak..

Nuremburg sit second bottom of the German league with No wins this season.. maybe they would sell Kiyotake for a reasonable price..

Would also look to get a winger in..

Also Aaron Hunt wants to move from his club.. He is a very good attacking midfeilder and i think he’s contract is up in the summer.. would be a very good signing if we went for it..

Tom Ince we should be in for too.. think he has pace and talent.. would even try for Chdli if he continues to stay out of the Spurs team.. they have way too many midfielders as it is..

Kiyotake/Hunt ( AM ) and Ince/Chadli ( Winger) or similair quality will not break the bank at all.. considering the wage bill we most likely be down to 60/65M from the 90M plus it used to be.. you could get those two positions filled in for around 15M really..

An AM and a winger are a MUST by end of the summer.. a DM would help too.. but the other two we have to get.. would transform our midfield and playing style..

Also.. are you telling me that for around 3-4M and 25-30K in the Belguim Dutch Norwegian French Swiss etc leagues there’s isn’t a DM that would walk strait into our team and do a proper job………………………….

The De Bruyne saga is laughable – No way would he want to play for us and no way would we pay his wages.

Parzyszek is another cheap as chips Championship (at best) player – God help us!!

Some of the mid-lower Bundesliga clubs have some very good AM’s and they’d be worth sniffing out.

Not sure about Chadli but I agree with Ince and Kiyotake would make a huuuuge difference.

Would Really like hughes from derby he definitely wouldn’t break the bank transfer fee or wage wise and is a player that can seriously find a defence splitting pass, he wouldn’t be an instant fix maybe like a Kiotake or popov but has bags of potential and in the young and hungry mold so i think overall he is a realistic target and the type of player we seem to be goin for. The only downside i see of him is that he really is more of a deep lying playmaker that gets forward than an attacking midfielder that stays close to the strickers and we already have enough of that type of player at the club but i think he would definitely be an upgrade on westwood and KEA, would love ince too as he can play as an attacking mid or a winger and is really an attacker plus he could play in our front 3 system much better than weimann or gabby but he would demand a decent transfer fee and wage. I reckon we could get hughes and ince for a total of 10-12 mill and 50k wage now that should be at least what we are lookin to spend on proper quality players, and 50k for 2 players should be no problem now with all the players gone and given been linked a lot that just leaves Hutton. This would vastly improve our team i believe, and should happen but im not gonna hold my breath…

Isn’t 10-12m what Derby alone want for Hughes? Not too mention the 6-8m Blackpool would want for Ince?

Didn’t know they valued him at that much! Did they actually come out and say that? I thought he would be about 4mill cause he has only really been playing very well this season and someone like ince has been touted for a few years but still only valued about 8mill so doesn’t make sense to me, 10 mill for any champ player is too much if u ask me.

He’s going to Liverpool so it seems. Liverpool almost got him in the summer which is why Brendan Rodgers released Jonjo Shelvey to Swansea but it never come off which is why Da Pool were short of numbers in midfield with Gerrard/Lucas etc injuries………

When I last met my Derby fan mate a couple of years back, he mentioned Hughes and told me to look out for him.
When I recently met him again, talk got round to footy and he was raving about the kid, saying he’s a class apart. He reads the game well and has a great pass.

His opinion is that Hughes is off to Liverpool though, with his reasoning being that a) Pool have loaned some kid to Derby (to tap up Hughes?) and b) he’s a Pool fan.

Sounds reasonable, hence no chance for us, I’d say.

I suspect they’ll come to regret that decision.

“We have the highest wage bill in our history” sounds good, but

“We now begin the search to find a new Head Coach who will work within our existing structure, which has been in place for the past six years.”

In other words, even less wages than we pay.

Sounds to me like Clarke was moaning about the lack of money.

        More ambition than us?
        I doubt it oohah.

        Anyway, who cares?
I, cinders, will get to see the game tomorrow 🙂

At the moment we are a middle of the table club who are middle of the table so Lambert is meeting his target. There is no chance of him going unless we tumble down into the relegation zone by the end of January and attendances seriously drop.

Yes the football is pants but this is a results game and the table never lies and we are 11th so Lerner will take that.

Carruthers had an assist yesterday too. I’d be tempted to leave them both out on loan until the end of the season so they can both get a decent amount of game time.

Calling this one is so hard but bollox I’ll go for it anyway. their midfield is shit ours is worse, they aint the Man U of old and we are like a f**king box of chocolates (you never know what you’re gonna get!) so I think at the very least a draw but I can see us getting all 3, 2-1 to the Villa!

Just watched the highlights from notts county game, grealish took his goal very nicely and then setup the 4th with great composure and timing for an 18yr old. As an attacking mid type of player his composure and vision would be just what we need, obviously the prem is far superior but it’s promising none the less.
