Leicester – Villa: Can we get something here?

So it’s late Saturday night and it seems results went our way today.
All the opposition that counts, lost except for Brighton who drew.
It’s interesting to note there, that they’ve drawn 4 and lost 1 in their last five games.
Is that form good enough to keep you up?
I doubt it, given that all the teams at the bottom have won 1, drawn 1 and lost three.

Basically there’s nothing in it and wins are vital, as Newcastle have shown. A win at Southampton has helped them massively in the short term.
Indeed, a win at Leicester would propel us to 16th I think and we’d still have a game in hand albeit against Sheffield Utd at home.

To be honest, I doubt we’ll get a win at the King Power.
But we’ve proven that we can get a draw, as in the league cup.

I’d like to think we can get a draw again, as a best bet.
Nick a win and that would be a massive bonus.
I think it boils down to which team turns up.

We were abysmal against Southampton, but showed great effort in the cup final, where we’d have seriously threatened a lot of teams for a win if it was a normal Prem game.

The weather seems to be warming up a touch and that might suit some of our players better, which is a point that has been made in some of the replies.
I personally think that if you can’t play in the cold, you ain’t running fast and hard enough.
But then I’d also accept that the cold just doesn’t suit some players.

I’ll take any positive I can.

I’m not bothering with squad news, because nothing has changed and I frankly don’t care about Leicester.

Cut to the prediction then and that’s easy.

If we get really lucky, we win by a sneaky goal, say 2-1
If we get a bit less lucky, we snatch a draw, 1-1, which I’d happily take.
Go with the form and I’d expect us to lose.

And that’s what I’m going with.
A 1-2 loss.

Which will not be the end of the world, as we should expect to lose this one.

It’s more the manner of the defeat that I’m interested in.

If we’ve worked our guts out and really tried, I’ll live with it.
But if it’s another capitulation, I’ll be seriously worried.

I now think it’s beyond Dean Smith’s tactics and more about how much bottle the players have.

Hmm.

How many f***ing aimless balls have we blasted up the pitch. I’m sorry but we aren’t going to be an average team in the championship. The team that got promoted last season is better than this one. We have lost and let players go and replaced them with shite which we will be stuck with till their contracts wind down. Oh and Hogan has scored more goals for Small Heath than Villa already. Sack Smith, Terry and co. tonight and replace them with anyone.

At this point in the season, sacking Smith et al will admit we are relegated – so not likely to happen – yet

We need 2 up front at all times!! Why is this not obvious to everyone at Villa? We need goals and to play in the opposition half. Otherwise we limit ourselves to 1 or 2 chances a game its pathetic.

Guilbert and Targett just can’t defend. I keep saying it but Smith keeps picking them.

Elmo and Taylor – both roundly criticised by Villa fans?

Game over. Guilbert again caused the problem and Mings with his usual calamity moment.

F**king biggest load of crap I’ve ever seen – in some ways even worse than our last relegation season.

Not one Villa player looks interested. Going through the motions. No tackling and shite passing. As long as we have been nice though!

Vardy hadn’t scored since December… within 3 minutes we gift him a penalty. What an absolute shambles we are. We are 100% finishing bottom.
I want them all out – Smith, Terry, Purslow and Suso.

Let’s not kid ourselves Hitch, start with who manages the team, we are a laughing stock to football, they’re not good enough and have to go. Nobody’s going to change my mind times up.

Bill, I agree with you. I was of the opinion that should wait till the end of the season but after tonight’s spineless show again, it’s time to say thanks but goodbye. Smith is too nice for the position we are in. This team of players needs a kick up the arse.

3-0 another hit on the goal difference. Don’t worry though – Deano and JT will get them in another huddle and that’ll turn things round……

Easiest team to pass through, worst midfield possession in the league, individual error after error, negative tactics until were at least 2 down. Bye bye premiership status.

Good coaching should improve players as the season goes on. There has been no improvement in any of our players. Coaching staff and players not good enough. McGinn will make fuck all difference as the rest have given up. Even Jack looks like he is resigned to relegation. Back to the drawing board lads. Time to sack the coaching staff now . Nothing to be gained by sticking with this current set up.

It really doesn’t matter what the owners do now – it’ll make f**k all difference. I do worry that we might find ourselves in free fall next season. Worst of all I don’t really care what they do anymore.

Let’s face it JG is gone but I’m not sure Mings will be – is he really that good?

So, like Holte and Bill, I don’t think a I’m able to put myself through this again.

Sadly our latter years as Villa fans have proved to be disappointing, distressing and destructive.

Okay. Seen enough. The only chance we have, is sacking Smith and Terry first thing tomorrow morning.
Who’d replace them I don’t know but that was terrible. Utterly hopeless. There were several in the team tonight that should never wear a Villa shirt again. Awful.
Sorry to say it, but we’re down. That was as bad as the last days of Lerner.

It seems Hitch that there’s no willing anymore, the whole of Villa is in free fall , and top brass are ignoring by coming out to stem the anger fans have. What owner allow a manager to make mistakes like Smith has all season. We have the worst defenders in Guilbert and Targett, no midfielders that can win the ball and make chances, the team are poor from top to bottom.

I think top brass need get off the fence and invest. Okay so we’ll be banned from the Champions League for a couple of years… So what!
I get the impression Nath is too angry to comment right now.
Nice guy Dean, and the useless Terry have to go.

It’s not about being banned from Europe – we’ll get deducted points in domestic competition – particularly as the EFL would love to hit a team like Villa!

Notwithstanding, it’s difficult to criticise the owners for lack of investment – just was it wise investment.

What really pisses me off is having to endure the pretentious murmurings of the pundits accusing us of having done even worse than ‘a Fulham’.
