Leicester – Villa next up

and it’s about time for me, as the internationals just bore me witless.
England competing for a trophy is about the same as Villa winning the league, in that there’s no chance.

Leicester are probably strong favourites after their very decent start and we’re very much underdogs, given that the media think we’re doomed to struggle again.

But I feel this is an interesting game; one that might prove we’re not quite the soft touch the media see us as.
Hence, while we might be expected to lose, I suspect it’s one we should actually be looking to win, if we’re to be showing any signs that we’ve moved on.

Unfortunately, the realist in me doesn’t quite see it like that and I do indeed expect us to lose.
Why?
Because this is the sort of game that scares me.
Leicester play a pacey game, similar to us, but I feel they currently do it better, as they have a more regular, settled side.
And I feel we’re going to play into their hands, if we attack them, as is Sherwood’s apparent want.
The manager particularly mentioned that we made a mistake in selling Albrighton, a point that I strongly agree with and said so at the time.
And if we don’t set up right, he quite simply will hurt us, in my opinion.
So, I expect Sherwood to take a more careful approach.
Which might also be our undoing, as if we don’t attack, it would seem that we’re definitely going to concede.
Because that’s what we do, isn’t it?

I’d personally go for a five at the back, or 3-5-2 if you prefer, with Sanchez in the middle and a defensive approach, aimed at getting a point, but I just don’t see it happening as we all know Gabby’s going to come straight back in, isn’t he?
Which means it’s going to be two up top, in my opinion.

Who the two are, god knows, as if Gabby is included, all bets are off on my part.
Maybe it’ll be Gestede.

The simple truth is, I don’t know what’s going to happen.

Squad-wise, Leicester don’t have any problems at all.

On Villa’s part, Grealish is a maybe, Gana is doubtful and Traore is a 50-50.

I’ve had about six attempts at writing this blog and whatever I write always seems not quite appropriate.
Suffice to say, if I’ve got to hang my balls on the block, it’s going to be a 1-2 defeat.

While I like the way we’re looking and progressing, I suspect this is just an ask too far.

Oh, I’ll put a poll in to see what you think.

They’ve just run through the middle of us in the second half. Too gung ho at 2-0. Don’t bring Ayew on for Gil. Shore it up .

The shittiest thing is that Villa have been so woeful over the last few seasons that you go in to games against the likes of Leicester away thinking you’d happily take a point…….against Fucking Leicester. So to be 2-0 up and lose in such a pathetic way is just an embarrassment. They just walked through our midfield in the second half.

Just an aside, but Grealish doesn’t look like a 90 minute player at the moment.

I’m furious but half expected it. When they got first he should have put bacuna in midfield and Hutton at that bk. So flipping obvious

Hardly shite at all, often double teamed with Gil never getting back. Grealish at least helped Amavi.

Zonal marking at set pieces costs Villa time and time again and that is how the first goal came about, although it should have been a penalty by Bacuna before that. Surely Villa were expecting a Leicester onslaught and surely we have experienced players in there to see it out. He brings that useless Ayew on and, even though we can’t lay it all on him, who was there to keep hold of the ball and even counter attack ? Sherwood is proving to be as tactically naïve as Lambert. Pressure really on now for the Baggies match. At least we are still above Chelsea.

That was 3 points thrown away. 2 nil up and in complete control, we had shredded Leicester and the midfield had time for Olé passes. TS immediately subs the goal-scorer Gil who did not appear to be injured for the useless Ayew. That and some extraordinary hand signals that make sense only if he was playing charades and had drawn “Tumble Dryer” or “Rudy’s Hairdresser”.

Whatever it was, it seemed like a switch was flicked and the confidence swapped sides in an instant. When Leicester pulled one back the writing was on the wall. Though a clown in orange instead of green is still a clown – it was a one handed get but he made it a two handed fail for the winner.

Yorke saying the same ,why sub when you are winning and disturb your game? It must be demoralizing to the players, he has a point, Sherwood must take the blame for today’s lose,

Five games in and already calling for the manager’s head. If we did as these so called Villa fans suggest we’d go through 8 managers a season!

I saw the game and I’m as disappointed as anyone. We should have come away with at least a point which IMHO would have been a good result. However Guzan once again snatched defeat from the jaws of a victory (well a draw anyway). He came and he missed the ball allowing one of the smallest players on the field to head into an empty net. If he’d stayed on his line he’d have had an easy catch.

Please please Tim play Bunn against the barcodes and ditch Guzan at the first opportunity.

Said from the start this guy is out of his depth, as per, was shot down with the “give him a chance” dribble…..

New manager syndrome got the best out of us for a few games and everyone thought Dimmy Deadwood was the new born messiah…..he fooled you all
