It’s been a busy day on the news front.
What do I know from the little I’ve had chance to read?
Bent’s a gonner and won’t be offered a new contract (contrary to reports that said he would).
How much did him getting cosy to a certain player’s missus affect that decision, I wonder?
I still think he’d have been an option if we really wanted one, but no doubt the required wages are way out of our league, for what would frankly be a back-up striker.
Enda Stevens is also a gonner and about time. He was never going to be good enough and I was amazed that someone commented that there might still be a chance for him. Medicocrity at it’s highest, in my opinion.
That said, Good luck and I hope he gets a decent contract elsewhere.
Vlaar has been offered a contract.
I’ve previously asserted that it was offered a good while back, on the same money that he is currently on (early £20s K a week, which came from a very trusted source) and he’s keeping his options open, which is fair enough.
Take it or leave it Ron.
Personally it wouldn’t bother me if he left it and so much for Man Utd and Southampton being in for him.
A boat load of the academy kids are gone too, the only one I’ve heard of being Graham Burke.
It would seem someone has come in, had a good look at what we have and decided it’s a load of rubbish. Or at least not as good as is made out.
Just like some of us have been saying for a while.
I’d be interested to know who has actually made that decision though and hope it’s not just cost-cutting.
We might have a new buyer in the next few weeks and it’s not the consortium previously mentioned.
Yawn.
Just get out Randy and sell the club to someone who will invest, before the window shuts, is my call.
Why do I get the feeling that the speculation of a sale is just that: speculation?
What price the result is “we tried to sell, but couldn’t do the deal” or some other BS?
Which means we’re still in limbo, with an owner who won’t put any money in, the usual £15 million apart?
I reckon that’s enough to be debating for now.
Interesting times.
But I don’t believe it’s in a good way 🙁
very negative Badger sounds like oohah talking if we were sold in a few weeks time big if surely could not be any worse than it is now. Just interested to know your view on the link to the Dalian Wanda Group would u not see that as a positive if true
The truth is Muzz, I was pushed for time, as always and tried to condense the things I read.
Dalian Wanda eh?
I’ll look into it more closely, if and when I get the time.
Fwiw, I’d see anyone as a positive over Lerner, who guaranteed, will spend nothing in this window, imo.
The money is there, he’s just clawing it back, regardless of what the books say.
Indeed, I’d guess it’s this part that might be holding up any sale, in that it’s too complicated for the accountants to see.
Same as I’ve always said though, groups/consortiums scare me, as they are only in it for the money and don’t give a toss about the club.
That said, you have more checks and balances.
I’ve always said that there is something to be said for a single owner.
The trouble is, when he decides that’s it, it becomes a big problem, which we’re seeing now.
Swings and roundabouts, imo and while I’m a big supporter of Lerner out, I’m worried about who might come in.
Simple answer?
I don’t know what I want, apart from an honest owner, coupled with an intelligent investing board.
Knowing the Villa, it’s too much to ask.
That’s my heart on my sleeve Muzz 🙂
The fact that Lerner has allegedly given exclusivity to a bidder is interesting and perhaps an indication that things are progressing further than previously. Let’s hope it gets done soon while we have time to do something of note in the transfer window of there is to be investment.
I just posted this on the last thread but Vlaar had apparently said that he can play at a higher level and wants to maximise his career – please just do one Ron.
The clear out of the dead wood needs to continue – Weimann, Agbonlahor etc….. The players that have been consistently hanging around our relegation battles.
Vlaar play at a higher level!! Funniest thing IV heard for years I wouldn’t even wish that useless lump on blues!
The club is supposedly in talks with a right back and centre back, also.
And so it begins again. It’s like the Ellis / Lerner change of ownership all over again. Can someone wake the sleeping giant that is Aston Villa ? Bloody hope so.
Just hope Fox is kept on board for some continuity. I do believe he was key to us staying up. I believe he wanted rid of Lambert sooner than when he eventually did bite the bullet.
I really hope we sign Trippier. We never had a chance with Ings, as on a free transfer, we just cant compete. Trippier at 3.5m (if that is true) would be a bargain.
Im glad we didnt consider giving Bent a new contract, and if the Weimann to Derby rumours are true, i think that might be good for everyone. Shame he never really kicked on, but i think he might do well there…and we need the money!
Here it is http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/583115/Manchester-United-Ron-Vlaar-Aston-Villa-Louis-Van-Gaal-Transfer-Gossip let him go I say.
Good he can FUCK OFF they’ve got a bigger & better physio room.
Just a thought. IF someone has been granted exclusivity, then an offer has been made and accepted, subject to a calculation of the exact number and proper due diligence. The interesting bit for me is that it will probably mean that Benteke can’t be sold. There will be restrictions on the sale of any asset over a certain value, as this materially changes the deal. That means that he either won’t be sold before the deal goes through, or if he does it will be because the buyer OK’s it.
So new sponsor – Inituit Quickbooks. I also came across this article which has a photo of the logo on a kit… could this be the new kit?
