“Third generation Villan” has submitted the following article.
I have to say, I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment. Cheers, TGV;

Hull 2 – 0 Villa
• Jelavic grabs seventh goal of season
• N’Doye scores on full Hull debut
• Villa without a win in 10 matches
• Villa drop into bottom three in Premier League
Victory lifted Hull to 15th in the Premier League table and left Villa in the bottom three.
Lambert says ’13 cup finals’ coming up for Villa.
Paul Lambert’s Villa have now gone 10 Premier League matches without a win, they have not scored an away goal in almost eight and a half hours, and a banner reading ‘Lambert Out’ was unfurled by some visiting supporters at half-time.
——————–
Remember this?
I do and like most of you I believed we were on the verge of being relegated and with Lambert and Lerner still in charge probably with worse to follow.
And by the way you got that wrong too Mr Lambert, it was 14 cup finals.
At that time I recall we were all calling for a change in tactics and if we were going down at least have a go and attack the opposition so we saw some entertaining football not the dross being served up by Mr Lambert.
Then we got a lifeline. Villa sack Mr Lambert and give Tim Sherwood a go.
Our next game is Leicester in the cup and Sherwood is watching from the stands and after another dire first half he rushes to the dressing room at half time and we come out and play much better in the second half and manage to win the game.
Now like most of you I did not know what to expect but knew it could not be worse than Mr Lambert, so I was right behind Tim Sherwood.
And just 14 weeks later, we are safe with a game to spare and a cup final to come!
Now just 14 weeks ago if I offered you that line, guaranteed, you would have snatched my hand off.
So the way I look at it is, Tim Sherwood has come in to a club with no confidence and has had to work with the players already there and most of you would agree it was not the best squad we have ever had, so he used the one asset and tactic he really had which was Benteke and told everyone to get the ball to him as quickly as possible.
There have been ups and downs along the way and yes, yesterday’s 6 – 1 was a low but overall I am grateful for the job he has done.
Looking forward I think Tim Sherwood has earned the right to have a summer transfer window and some money to spend to rebuild the team he wants. I also think he will do an ok job at least and might just surprise a few people.
As for my ideas, I think we need a new goalkeeper, a new defence with Clark, Baker and Bacuna plus 3 or 4 new additions, another striker at least, if not 2, to help Benteke and Gabby (Wiemann and Nzog not good enough) and possibly another midfielder.
But as they say it’s a game of opinions.
I look forward to the bonus of a cup final, with hope renewed for the future of the Villa.
You never know now he’s stabilized at a club I think he just might turn out to be a gem.give the guy a chance FFS
Giddy…agreed mate. A warm Villa welcome to Scott Sinclair. I like getting the signings done early doors. Bring on Tom Cleverley now!
UTV
Don’t want cleverly useless piece of crap. Needs to be on loan till Xmas and if he proves himself then fair enough sign him. Knowing us we will pay £8m for him to pathetic. Happy re Sinclair useful squad player. Hope we sign gill.
Can’t see Gil signing he just ain’t Sherwoods cup of tea, we might see summit but we don’t pick the team.cleverleys improved under Tim so why not sign him?????forget pre Sherwood time to move on.
Because he’s had only half a dz decent games all season and was no to being crap again on sat
Ummm, you do know we won’t have to pay for Cleverley don’t you?
Is he out of contract?
I believe he is
Uhm duh, thought you’d keep up on this Oohah. 😉
Free agent this coming summer.
Ok but what about wages anything more than 20k a wk forget it
Hey I’m completely with you, I don’t even want him at Villa.
Agreed
Oohah….your depth of knowledge never ceases to amaze me. ‘Is he out of contract’? That confirms your not a Villa fan, just a ‘wind up negative, cocksucking, crossdressing wank fester’ 🙂
Takes one to know one Langford
Just to point out Cleverley is free, and Gil we already bought in Jan (assuming by Gill you mean Carles Gil, not Gill the tea lady, or Gil let , Sherwood’s favourite coat)
So I am wondering who funded this deal:
Lerner, meaning he’s staying?
Lerner, who promised to sign Sinclair to Fox, and is still going to sell?
Or a new owner putting in a couple million already?
Given the amounts involved aren’t huge by premier league standards, I’d suspect it’s still Lerner, and tells us nothing about his intentions regarding any sale.
I’m not bothered whether he sells now sounds like consortiums waiting in wings will be just as bad if not worse. Better the devil we know
You know what they say about having all your Basques in one exit. Just supposing Benteke is sold and we cannot replace him with that type of centre forward. In that situation we might have Kozak doing a Peter Crouch. A back post knock down role as #9, and then we need nimble and nippy players – ideally two – who can alternate as crossers of the ball and Defoe style poacher. Sinclair and Gil are that style of player.
OLL love the quip. I think Sinclair is a good signing; from TS comments he may not have signed him because he seems to prefer setting up,with two No 10’s as part of the diamond rather than out and out wingers. I can’t believe he wasn’t aware of the terms of the deal; if not that’s down to Fox not properly briefing him.
I can’t fathom the Gil situation – he did look a pretty useful player from what little we saw of him but then we don’t see training week in week out.
Will be a very interesting close season.
The quip was coined on Villa’s away-day to Athletic Bilbao, when they had one sodding immigration officer checking the passports of two planeloads at Bilbao airport.
