Stan Collymores post makes no sense. Why would Lerner who is so unpopular destabilise the club further and actually announce club for sale BUT no buyers. That would show he has no interest and the clubs lost this would drive fans away. Why would fans then hand over money to Lerner? Makes no sense. The most logical action for Lerner in these circumstances would be to say nothing. Keep quiet certainly not admit to no interest and not caring

if there no buyer, aston villa will be battling relegation again, the squad lacks depth and quality, i think lerner has trimmed back because hes trying 2 recoup his dollars, because he knows his outlay far exceeds the value of the club, so he might be around 4 a few more years bleeding us

the announcements we are waiting for maybe just the obvious, hes trying 2 find the right buyer who can take us forwards and be patient, it may take some time, but not 2 worry i will pump another 20mill for transfers but wage budget remains same ~ mission impossible don’t forget to get urseason tickets

£20m might be peanuts, but looking at the squad. We don’t need a striker because we have like 10, we don’t need a gk unless we get one in on a free, we don’t really need a CB with Okore coming back. We need maybe 1 FB and a midfield revolution. Gotta remember also that he’s gotten a £20m netspend, not just £20m overall. I don’t think we’ll sell anyone worth anything as Benteke’s injured.

Kozak and Benteke are good enough up front when we have 1 striker playing at all times. Plus add in Gabby, Weimann, Robinson and Helenius, we don’t need anyone else. I don’t like having a front 3 of all forward/strikers which is why I do hope our academy graduates are our wingers next season.

Baker’s not near as bad as the media’s made him out to be and next to Vlaar is actually pretty decent. What we need is a competent midfield which we don’t have. I’d honestly flag em all and get a brand new 3 man midfield, yes that includes selling Delph as he’s probably our 2nd biggest asset in terms of worth. I can stand having one of someone like Lowton or Luna, if the other FB is good enough to cover defensively. I’d personally say screw it and use a complete academy wing-base. Grealish, Albrighton if he chooses to stay, Stieber Carruthers and Graham along with Bacuna. All young, quick, a few of them with technical ability and all eager to show. Meaning we can fully rely on getting in midfielders. 1 DM, 1 CM and 1 AM. Obviously we wouldn’t have to sell Delph, El Ahmadi, Westwood to get them, though to make room we might have to flag one or two. But 1 fullback, 3 midfielders, selling the likes of Tonev, Sylla, Herd (think he’s out of contract), one of Bennett or Luna, Bent, Given, Holt going away, sadly I think Helenius will get sold. I’m sure we can round up 8-10m for that lot, and he does get 20m + sales or so so 30m for 4 positions could well put us as a top 10 club under Lambert. If this happens, i doubt it as he’ll go for the likes of Hernandez and Lescott, wasting money imo.

First 2 games of the season v arsenal and cheksea we actually looked a very capable team everyone seemed to have improved gabbys best ever game v arsenal away where he played central. We are the only team to beat arsenal away this season even cheksea and city couldn’t do this. So what went wrong!!

Lambert can’t develop his tactics around how other teams play. He like O’Neill has 1 style, 1 set of tactics. Long ball. It’s no surprise we’ve played the most amount of long balls in the league this season. We have players that can open up defensive teams, but when you only play long balls which happens to fall into half the teams hands in defending, then we’re fucked. Arsenal, Liverpool and City have been very suspect when facing said tactics, Chelsea’s suspect to fast players. Much the reason we have such an incredible record against them as that is our style. However… You can’t beat the West Ham’s, Fulham’s and Crystal Palace’s like that. Or you’ll be made to look like a joke.

i find myself in totally agreement again with oohah ( i need 2 see a doctor me thinks) also and andrew is correct, while our strikeforce has scored us goals 2 keep us up, 3 strikers in 90% of each staring line~ups is to bold, we need 2 blood the so called youth andrew named and maybe a DM and AM with premier class, but think about it how many strikers we av and we av almost lost all to injury weimann really only fit villa striker of any note at present

Has been largely the problem. I personally rate Tonev still, after watching him for Bulgaria anyways. I still want Popov, he was very good with Tonev in linking up together. But given the fact we have Albrighton and technically Tonev who can play on the wing, it should be a given we don’t play 3 strikers and play 2 out wide. If you do, you can’t have 1 really big guy who’s not gonna swap positions with the others during the game.

Pretty much, had a 5 year plan for them to become a Premier League club, they did. They challenged for a European spot on a few occasions, He loaned the club nearly 200m pounds interest free by 2011. He paid very little for them and did a lot. While claiming fans can go to hell if they don’t like the Michael Jackson statue, he’s quite the businessman. But then again he’s worth 1.5 billion USD’s, so a lot of fans would be very unhappy as he’s not “Rich” enough.

Randy Lerner leaves Aston Villa in the dark.

RANDY LERNER is not expected to fly in next week & will announce Aston Villa’s future from 3, 000 miles away at his New York home.

Villa’s senior management are in the dark about what billionaire Lerner intends to do with the club. And they do not expect him to be getting on his private jet & be at the club in person to say whether he is selling.

Only a statement, filed to the club’s media department, is expected from him.

Lerner did not confirm or deny he was selling, leaving Villa in limbo but is thought to be looking for buyers himself.

There is no comment from the Villa board on the situation & manager Paul Lambert admits he does not know what is going on (Express & Star).

As I see things, any rumours are just that. Rumours.

I don’t believe anything I’ve read or heard, because stuff just doesn’t leak from the club, simple!

And if you think it does, please quote me an example.

But, at the same time, I believe SOMETHING is going to happen and it will not involve things staying exactly as they are, with Lerner saying that he’s looking for a buyer/investor.

Something HAS gone on and there WILL be a buyer or an investor.
Otherwise, Lerner wouldn’t have said anything.
Why should he open his mouth if nothing’s happening?
He doesn’t have the history for it after all and getting him to talk in the first place is difficult, to say the least.

Unless, of course, Lerner is totally stupid in coming out with a comment that is only a prelude to “nothing changes, but I just wanted you to buy season tickets”.

He’s advised by people that know money and there’s no way Lerner or his advisors are that stupid.

    Let’s just wait and see.

        Proper football person, yes.

MON, good choice at the time, but we missed out. I fail to see where a football person would have changed much, but we’ve been there and done that.

I still want examples where anything has leaked out beforehand under Lerner’s tenure.
        Until then, it’s all speculation.
        No…..correction.

Maybe he is going to announce he is leaving and handing the club back to the fans (spanish style) ownership. Then we can do what we want with it. We all pay a membership fee and elect a president from our members who then hires manager of their choosing. Until we know for sure anybody in the media or otherwise can write or say anything and people will latch onto it. We will know when we know. But don’t hold your breathe I have a feeling he is staying .

That I do believe though. I don’t think it’ll be before or during the game, as Lerner will want focus, despite there being little on the game because it means little to fans and his announcement means everything. Plus it’s respect for Lambert not to say anything yet. I wouldn’t argue with him being right on that.

Unless Lerner and Faulkner are incredibly talented actors and both will sign extensions after say Monday, then I do believe something’s happening.

I think Lerner will stay, a director of football will be employed to negotiate contracts/fees for players that the “management team” want and Pie eating Paul will deal more with the commercial side of things. I put “management team” because I also think that Lambert will make or be forced to make Sid and Given his permanent assistants/coaches. Culverhouse and Gardsa won’t be coming back in my opinion. Money will be made available and I believe the purse strings will be made looser than the last 4 years but not to the extent of the O’Neil days. Of course I could be totally wrong but in my opinion what I’ve written would make sense. Really can’t see a takeover happening. Lerner’s statement will be to say he’s making changes and no takeover is happening, it’s all rumours.

Lambert will not be manager/coach or anything next year at AVFC, if he was the contract extension would have happened.

I think Lerner will stay owner, and the statement will be a complete reshuffle of the board and a director of football will be announced, along with the new manager and said funds.

This is also why Albrighton’s contract has been stalled because they want the new manager to approve or remove, and currently his agent is talking to Leicester where he will end up.

Finally we may see a few radical changes, but the ethos will be pretty much the same as the past 4 years.
