It’s a joke we are playing awful and Sunderland are passing us if the park at times though tbf they don’t look like scoring at all even we played till tomor morning they won’t score just nothing up front. Benteke showed a couple of half decent touches but that’s it. Gabby out best player so far rest if team just relying in how poor they are.

One mistake and somehow we’re winning, their running rings around us, lucky they can’t find the net…. Plus we’re lucky they have a makeshift defense.

sunderand are playing right into our hands we’re catching them on the break time and time again, and Cattermole seems to be having a mare.
nice finish again from gabby, he looks good out there today but if we keep inviting them they will score eventually, this possession thing is terrible, if you are defending 75% of the game its always likely you’ll concede at some point. we really really need to sort out our throwings don’t we?
sunderland do look bad vut they’ve been on decent form the last few games but are missing key defenders and it shows.
I think if we keep inviting them they will score, they went to the dying mins against Cardiff getting a 2-2 so expect the pressure to pile up lads.
hopefully we’ll hit on the break instead and finish em.

We didn’t play bad but they still had most if the possession and were easily the poorest team wev faced this season. We still had to rely on a clanger by them to get the goal that gabby took it well. We are still only 6 points of relegation but will be safe so Lerner will be happy as he can stick with lamberk and not spend any money in jan. The season is finished IMO for us now just another 3-4 months of going through the motions of boring football and finishing in bottom 6-8 big fucking wow!!

well it was ugly but a very good 3pts, we looke dlike our old selves on the counter, I actually felt we were well capable of making it 2 or 3 and pehaps we should of.
agreed benteke looked much better, we actually strung quite a few passes together! at the end there.
still a better team may have made more of the possession although we looked a lot less panicy at the back and over the tea as a whole with vlarr and benteke back.
hope vlarr isn’t too serious our fist win and clean sheet since he last played shows what just a bit of experience does for the team doesn’t it? please god lambert and learner will acknowledge we need one or two more players with experience in jan, I doubt it somehow, expecting another lower league or cheap euro prospects if anything as usual.

I thought we played ok, no in fact well quite in patches and the togetherness couldn’t be faulted, when Lowton went charging in when Gabby got flattened, just great to see.
Talking of Gabby you have to love him, when that fella had the spat with Wiemann next thing he tussles with Gabby then he’s on his arse counting his teeth, bless.

BWS…thats exactly how I saw it. Its too easy to say Sunderland are shit. Thats a bit harsh on us. They have already beaten Chelsea, Man City and Everton this season! Credit where its due and as you quite rightly point out we took no prisoners today. Its good to see us getting a bit nasty and fighting for the cause. At the end of the day thats a massive 3 pts!
        And Villa fans amazing again!

This win means no major spend in jan and lamberks job is safe for at least this season and possibly into next as we won’t go down now. Lerner will think we have got away with it again in the cheap and it will exactly the same next season. Glad we won in the short term but long term we are doomed

        haha poor old Oohahh!
the team has gone and won again! pesky rascals.

I still think if everyone on the site turned around and said Lambert out, you would begin to argue the opposite!

how can you state we are good in the short term but long term we are doomed based on Lambert staying!!

We have deabted this back and forth and i had thought you yourself had admitted that with Lerner still there it doesn’t really matter who the manager is. Fire Lambert .. same obstacles in place for the next manager.

I think we are much more stable and could benefit from continuity under the same manager for more than a season or two.

I am not defending the poor displays though. I am on the same page as you there oohahh but if we can manage 11th playing rubbish football and with arguably the 2 or 3 best players in the squad injured or out of form ..
        that gives me hope.
more than i have had in a while.

I am delighted with these 3 points.
And i am a little bit excited about the transfer window too .. that is the child in me though. who doesn’t like to see new players
It may be the same again but .. i think we will add and then shed progressively on cheap.

its pretty much what you have to do anyways but the way villa do it means its 1.76m players that didn’t make it as opposed to 10m misfits
that at least is the one bright spot to our much criticised transfer policy.

Now .. on to the next run of games .. eeekk ! the transfer window may be the most exciting part of this month!

The thing is Colonius is lambert simply is not good enough for this club. Having said that at least last season we did attempt to play some good attacking football. This season with virtually the same players we have gone back to be as bad if not worse than mcclown. Why? Very simple we have not got enough quality in the squad to play good football and stay up. Defensively we were a shambles last year. Even though we stayed up last year it was very close and bentekes goals saved us. This year we havnt had that luxury. So lamberk has done the opposite and is trying to build from the back whilst the defence has improved it has totally stifled our ability to go forward. Now our defence has improved then one goal will be enough most of the time whereas last season we needed to get 3 to feel safe. The problem is that we will never have enough quality players to plat good football and stay up. This is as much Lerner’s fault as lamberts. If we get to 40 points with say 6 games left then expect lambert to unleash the attack again and have a go as he would of achieved his aim of keeping us up. Unfortunately this is now as much as I don’t rate lambert no one else who is decent would come to this club and manage us as there is no money and even worse no ambition. This is it now until Lerner goes that is the long term plan like it or not.

Massiv win. It was a good performance from us but as well as we could have scored more so could Sunderland steal a point (offside goal was a marginal decision). Whatsoever, 3 pts in the bag. Vlaar is very important for us and as I stressed in a former post, we need a quality back-bone with Guzan-Vlaar-Delph-Benteke. Toady all 4 played and we got a result. Man of the match for Gabby. Took the goal really well, didn´t panic in a one to one. Benteke is a little bit off the pace. I was surprised that his marker out-paced him on several occasions. But overall he is very important. I am not satisfied with Weimann and Luna – both are not in form and PL should give them a break.
