Not sure how Vlaar not moving in January is on the bright side as he seems to want to leave, and hopefully will. We won’t get anything for him now. “Concrete” my ass!

I think Baker is actually fit, and Senderos is close to a comeback as well? I could be wrong but I thought I read that in one of Lamberts interviews earlier.

I hope whenever vlaar overcomes his injury he’s put down the pecking order for a starting place capt or not.the blokes halfway out the door already.

Our CBs are doing a great job this season. When Viaar is fit again and if our CBs are still playing well he should not walk into the team. With Viaar getting injured all the time and at his age no one might come in for him at the end of the season, he is pulling the strings, he might sign a new contract. All ifs and buts.

As far as I can tell from the articles I’ve read (and unlike ITK’s the only source of information I have) Vlaar has never stated he wants to leave. His agent did say it was his last opportunity to move to a bigger club which is fair enough in my view. The only quote from Vlaar was to the effect that no enquiries had been made from a club he might be interested in moving to. Lots of hyperbole on here!

I like Vlaar – but let’s face it, his brilliant world cup came as a complete surprise to everyone, possibly even himself.

At his age [30 in a couple of weeks] and especially with his injury record I can’t see any of the serious CL teams being desperate to give him a last big payday in the summer.

Even if he goes, I’d just say ‘thanks and good luck’…

Agree though i think of one club who woukd be stupid enough to put him in a long term deal with a pay rise! Il give u a clue there initials are AV !

I don’t think anyone’s going to pay for someone so injury prone. I’m more than happy for him to stay, even if he does only play a handful of games per season and our younger centre backs have to cover when he’s out.

A bit an update with transfers: We are awaiting a response from Valencia on our bid, it is believed they want to loan the player but are interested in Villa’s offer.

Sinclair is supposedly all but confirmed at the moment, there should be news on that within the week.

We are also being linked to Arslan of Hamburger SV, unlike Gil and Sinclair however I don’t think there is much truth behind it as when I went on twitter to look for reports I noticed he’d been linked to every club left right and center, including the mighty QPR!

And there might be a bit of a problem, apparently we have a 24 man squad so we can only get one of them in. That can easily change obviously as anyone can be sold.

You’re everywhere and no where, Villa
    That’s where you’re at
    Going down a bumpy league
    In your hippy hat

    Flying across the country
    And getting naf
    Saying everything is groovy
    When our team are crap

    And it’s hi-ho silver lining
And away you go now, Villa
I see your sun is shining
    But I won’t make a fuss
    Though it’s obvious.

It’s all been cleared! We have a 23 man squad, someone was counting Siegriest as a keeper but our only keepers are Guzan Given and Steer so both moves can happen. And there’s whispers that we’ve received an inquiry for Weimann.

watching pool at sunderland. how much would fabio borini cost to sign, seems like pool don’t rate him that much, was loaned all last season. but hes got that movement and intelligence to play as a second striker alongside a benkeke, or play as a lone striker as 2day. wonder if its more than lerners prepared to spend.

i expect a toughie at foxes today, maybe away from VP will help the team, i will post my predictions 4.46pm just to be sure

His movement and touch are good but he looks about as good a goalscorer as Weimann and Agbonlahor. I can’t see Lambert playing a second striker in the traditional sense.

Read a comment about Lambert on the bbc site today. The journalist was asking “what has happened to him?”. Played attacking football at Norwich but not at Villa. I’ve said it a number of times on here. He has lost his nerve, and it’s all about not losing, just like Mcleish really.

yeah his team at norwich was attacking, its chalk and cheese to how we at villa are playing presently or even all his time a vp

where is all these rumors of transfers i cant find any apart from gardiners loan to forest

Yes. Grealish, who has made things happen as a sub does not make the bench even today. Richardson and N’zogbia do, so Lambert’s loss of nerve extends to picking premiership experience only. Weimann gets 15 mins rest from 3pm, until Cole takes his first knock. Who on earth is going to play down the right channel in this line up?

    Westwood, Cole, both start.

This is my main criticism of lambert. The approach is to play experienced players despite consecutive poor displays. Some of these players are played out of their natural position and it just doesn’t work from an attacking point of view. Yes we have done well defensively this season, but does that have to be at the expense of a real attacking threat? We don’t play a balanced side, and don’t carry an attacking threat from midfield. When we attack we should do this in numbers, but it seems to me we are too concerned with keeping our defensive shape that we don’t do this. All this possession is fine if it carries an attacking threat. We don’t. It’s just an exercise in helping out the defence.

Maybe a couple of results going our way may get the team playing a more attacking game, but I’m not holding my breath. I look at every match expecting us to struggle to create chances and convert them. Leicester will have a go despite their shortcomings. If we go behind I just don’t expect we will get anything out of the game. And it’s Leicester.

Just noticed Michael Oliver is ref today. Absolutely useless. Expect a major mistake (or two). Let’s hope it’s in our favour.

I see that Danny Inge has scored again, to me he’s the type of player required at Villa. Yes your right Villa1996 wide men are needed in a team but Villa ignores that fact.he’s gone for a 0-0 again, and boring games.
