Sinclair on loan and Villa in for Ba? *UPDATE* 29.01.2015 17:26

It seems that Lamberts hardball has paid off and Sinclair has conceded to a loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season. This is possibly the best scenario for us as we get the player we all wanted and we get a trial run with him to see if he still has what we all hope he does before we make any further commitments.
The word is that the medical has been passed which means an official announcement is due any time soon.

Now for some more exciting news, Aston Villa are apparently in a battle with Hull City (Yes, Hull City) for the 29 year old Demba Ba and I must admit, this is a very exciting prospect as I believe he would be the perfect partner for Benteke and a struggling team.

This is a very short and snappy post but I genuinely think that despite all of this negativity surround Aston Villa and even more so on this forum post the Tom Fox comments, I honestly believe that Aston Villa are at the beginning of something great and the light at the end of the tunnel is starting to appear. I don’t believe the club will be sold and once we survive relegation, I think there will be some serious investment in the club come the summer. It is no small feat ensuring players stay at a failing club, and even more so, bringing in decent players. Maybe I am naive, but I do honestly believe that this summer will see the start of a new era at Villa park.

Whilst i’m here making these wild comments, I think this is our year for the FA Cup as well. Now come at me people, tell me how wrong these thoughts are.

UPDATE

Just hearing that AVFC are attempting a late bid for MK Don’s Delle Alli. The 19 year old is currently at MK Dons and is being touted as one of Englands future prospects. It was understood that Newcastle was close to signing the player for 5million with him remaing at MK Dons for the remainder of the season but this is rumoured to have been halted by Aston Villas late interest.
5 million you all say? To make things more believable, the word is that we have lined up a 2million bid, with the option to loan the player back for the remainder of the season and then pay the rest off the fee come summer.

What do you all think? This transfer window is turning out to be very entertaining, lets’s hope some of todays stories reach an official agreement.

Demba Ba would be a really good signing. Prem experience and in form. Just hope this is genuine and not another smokescreen. I reckon it would cost us upwards of 5 mil and that may be an issue. Sinclair on loan not a bad signing, adds competition anyway.

The murmurs are saying that BA would be a loan as well. I’m not happy about that as I’d rather it be a purchase, but if true, I’d take the loan

Not so sure about SInclair but the thought of Ba and Benteke playing together as twin strikers sounds quite tasty.

Can’t help it lately but there’s a strange unfamiliar feeling creeping over me…oh yes I remember…it’s called hope!

Lambert doesn’t play 2 centre-forwards so IF Ba is signed then he will be played as a ‘wide-attacker’.

Sinclair loan makes sense see if he steps up to the mark if he don’t send him packing instead of been tied down to a player for maybe 4 yrs.ba love to see him up front with trekkers.

No, you were right first time Giddy, if Demba Ba comes here it will be to replace Benteke, who looks like he wants to be on his bike. Ba is an ‘up front on his own forward’ at best not a junior feed.

Is Ba the long term replacement for Benteke who will probably leave in the summer.
Benteke just doesn’t seem at the races these last few games.

On present form there wouldn’t be many sizeable offers for Benteke, now or in the summer…

29 year old’s usually aren’t long term replacements for 24 year old’s… But then again it’s possible.

Villa will still ask north of 20m for Benteke, which if they got in the summer and have signed Ba, wouldn’t be a bad deal at all to find a replacement with and still strengthen elsewhere.

Like your optimism Mr Cheese. I have my doubts about any major change in player investment. Sinclair on a loan with option to buy looks sensible. Demba Ba? I’m not sure there’s any legs in that one. I would expect him to cost a decent sum and be on a good wage. Not really our profile.

Still trying to hold on to hope above expectation.

totally agree with that giddy, sinclair arrival will be the kick up the backside for gabby and weimann. we saw weimann raise his game with gil full debut. too long have them two been guaranteed a starting place. now lerners wallet loosens slightly on wages. players have more competition for the shirts this will raise players performances

A loan is best Badger, anything Citeh want to off-load has to be suspect [Ireland!] so we are better off checking with a loan.

Clermont striker, Jordan Nkololo, is currently spending this week at Aston Villa on trial.

Here’s his record from his Wiki page –

    2012–2013 Châteauroux 2(0)
    2013– Clermont Foot 43(2)

    Prolific or what?

Pat Murphy, BBC Radio 5live: Aston Villa expect to confirm this afternoon the loan signing of Scott Sinclair from Manchester City.

The winger, who barely featured for the City first team over the past two seasons, has passed his medical and the formalities are being finalised. He’ll sign on loan until the end of season with a view to a permanent transfer.

Earlier comment re Ba being a loan. Couldn’t happen as with Sinclair we will have max allowed two loan signings including Cleverley. Wonder if Lambert was playing hardball because he wanted the cash for Ba?

Nope, that’s only domestic loans, unless it changed in the last year, Everton had Barry and Lukaku as domestic loans, and Delfelou as a foreign loan at the same time, then signed Traore on loan in January, having 4 loans.

Ba’s at Besiktas so it wouldn’t count against us.

I agree. It basically means you can sign an entire starting 11 of loans, as long as only 2 are from domestic clubs. Although I do hope Villa take advantage of this more often.

If he hasn’t realized Weimann can work next to Benteke or hell, work alone, because his movement’s quality, then he needs a good slap in the face a few times.

Two different kinds of players though. Dele Alli’s been playing deeper and running at midfielders/defenses. Kind of almost free roaming the midfield. Callum Robinson isn’t a midfielder.

What, just like Delph often used to do at Leeds?
I’m not sure why he doesn’t do that much now, as he has occasionally shown that he still can.
Btw, I’ve corrected that last word in the quote 🙂

He is the only player we currently have that has, or at least used to have that ability. Despite all of our players being similar in playing deeper, they are at least different types of midfielders.

Basically what he did at Leeds. But Dele Alli has more goals this season than Delph had in his time at Leeds.
