I like watching Postecoglou’s Spurs side. They’re even more gung ho than we are and frankly, it seems the manager doesn’t care. I’ve said a few times that while it’s entertaining, I don’t believe it’s a strategy that will win you anything and you have to be able to defend as well as you attack.
Given that both sides here attack better than they defend, I expect a few goals and a game that could go either way. It’s just a case of which defence proves worse.
Which is a good time to look at squad news and quite aptly, the big point for Spurs is that their apparently best central defender, Micky Van de Ven, is definitely out. Add in that Cristian Romero is also doubtful, their already dodgy defence looks even worse.
Which means that Ange might well go for it even more. Where a player I really rate, in Heung-min Son, who might make it, isn’t fully fit either, having had a hamstring issue. Wilson Odobert is out, with a hamstring injury and Djed Spence will be out because of a groin issue.
Even Timo Werner is looking doubtful.
So Spurs are not really in a good place, although in fairness, I’ve never heard of some of those players.
As for Villa, Ross Barkley is the only player out.
So what to think?
If our defence was even just a bit better they have been, I’d say this should be in the bag and I’d predict a win by a couple of goals.
But it’s awful and quite frankly, I don’t think I like that fact. That’s probably down to the modern game and the way it’s played and also a hint of me having witnessed some stonkingly great Villa defenders over the years.
I see goals; more than 3.
And I think a 2-2 draw looks favourite.
That’s my prediction.
So watch it be a 1-0 game and I guess totally wrongly again.
UTV!
Short and sweet, because I don’t see much more to say.
I’m expecting a good, entertaining game. Now watch it be anything but that.
A difficult one to call. I’d also go for a draw but my head says 1-2 to us. We seem to still up our game for the ‘bigger’ teams. In saying that Bournemouth are a Sky4 tram considering their last 3 games! We got off lightly! Arse and Citeh losing was unprecedented. Can we capitalise?
Nah…Or can we?
7- 0 to Villa – bug**r have to stop throwing rum down my throat!
Seriously no idea – on balance I think we shoukd win but Spurs have sone dangerous attacking players!
2-2 is a pretty good shout though.
Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Pau, Digne, Onana, Tielemans, McGinn, Ramsey, Rogers, Watkins.
Subs: Olsen, Maatsen, Carlos, Mings, Kamara, Philogene, Buendia, Bailey, Duran.
Son starts. Hmm
Match fit though???
Probably not BB.
They’re stopping us playing and looking favourites atm.
They’ll either capitalise on their possession or we’ll nick a goal. Our first corner…Will Spuds run out of steam?
Chesttttyyyyyy!!!!!!!!
Rogers from the corner.
Get in, but undeserved???
1-0
Underserved my arse. J just robbed by the post and we are in the right places. Get in
Ha, say it as you see it Gerry.
Fair play.
Goals make prizes and nowt else matters 🙂
I’d concede to ‘Against the run of play’. But not undeserved.
Come onnn a win would be massive UTMV
Watkins should have bagged there.
When Ollie plays this bag he normally scores
Bloody hell, Alan Smith says it’s been a real professional, solid performance.
That’s some comment, given he’s normally an anti Villa tool, imo.
Have you also noticed Spurs are committing numerous off the ball fouls taking out our players starting a run, which the ref has not stopped.
Tielesman needs to step it up on free kicks – twice mucked up a free kick leaving us open to counter attack.
Now a chance to dominate the match second half and put the game to bed.
The pensioners will have seen enough weekends like this when the results yesterday could have been scripted by us, but Villa fluff their lines. Still, 0-1 up at half time! Though Spurs have conceded 1st in 12 of their last 14 home games and still won seven of them so it is a par scoreline. We need another goal. Some of our passing out of defence is brilliant, but Mcginn should be told not to try and win the tackle when in possession because he is poor at doing that. Not as much left sided attacking from Villa as I would expect.
Refs. Compare NO yellow cards this game compared to that twat who gave 13 last week.
Spuds are dirty.
Bollocks. Game on. We need to inject some energy into this.
Bollocks.
Good ball in from Son gets them an equaliser.
1-1
Romero and Spurs in general are thugs. Now Rogers looks like coming off.
