After the debacle that was the Liverpool game, it’s yet again difficult to see us getting much against Stoke isn’t it?
Confidence is probably rock bottom right now and Remi Garde has commented on how he’s finding it difficult to get some of the players “up” for it and feeling committed.
These were comments that stunned me, as that’s about as close as you can get to admitting we’ve absolutely no chance of stopping up with this overall gutless bunch of mugs we have representing the club. They’ve given up already.
So it’s easy to just write this one off as another loss and we aren’t going to get another point all season.
But we all know footy doesn’t quite work like that and there are still points to be had, however unlikely they might seem.
The big question for me, is do the players have any pride and will they want to try to put the last game behind them?
I’d like to think yes and certainly hope so.
If they don’t at least run their socks off in this game, we as fans might as well give up too.
It’s not that I think we can survive now: it’s more that I want us to go down at least trying our best.
Anything less and I think I’ll be joining the call to get the kids in too.
Ok, that’s enough of trying to put a positive slant on things. I can’t keep the pretence up (and it was a genuine attempt, but there’s nothing to say).
The facts are Remi Garde has basically said the quality isn’t there, the squad isn’t deep enough and even though I’ve read news articles that suggest that he might look to put a kid or two in, he doesn’t think they’re good enough either;
“To run a football team if you have no competition within the team and within the squad it’s not the best thing.
Some of them could be [taking their places for granted]. This is not healthy for the squad and for the team.
But I’m not sure that I saw enough quality among the reserve team to put a player in a very difficult situation in Aston Villa’s first team at the moment.”
So there’s nothing to suggest that he won’t start pretty much the same line-up that he did against Liverpool.
Which is a shocking state of affairs, when a supposedly big Premier league club has no alternatives it can call on.
This is what you’ve overseen Randy. Thanks for that.
I see Gestede is in the running again and will probably get some minutes, which would normally be great, having a big fella back in to mix it with Stoke’s defence. But I think he epitomises the whole side in that he can’t rough things up and get amongst it, so will probably prove as ineffective as usual.
I’m not even going to talk about Stoke’s side or tactics, as it doesn’t matter.
It’s all about if we have the minerals to put a decent fight up.
And sadly, I don’t think we do.
I can’t see past a couple of goals loss, with our midfield being totally dominated, our attack offering nothing and the defence, well I’m not even going there, yet again.
But at the same time, I don’t see us getting thrashed either. Stoke won’t need to go all out.
God, we really are rubbish aren’t we?
I can’t see the poll saying much different.
Not much else to say, is there?
Anyone feeling positive?
I’d like to be positive Badger but Then I’d probably be removed, laughing hysterically, by men in white coats. 0-2 Villa – oh sod it they’re here already 🙂
I can’t imagine there’s many of us who think we’ve got a chance. I think you summed things up very well there Badger.
We’re a few games away from being relegated in February, and a handful of injuries mean we have to field a team of players who are either not good enough or just don’t give a shit.
I agree, we really are rubbish. But also would it be fair to say, they really are rubbish, we will be here long after they’re all gone.
Stoke 5 VILLA -0 couldn’t give a FUCK anymore. A bit like the Club & players.
Stoke 0 Villa 1, Agbonlahor. 58 mins.
@Dave C
Shame on you for drinking this early in the day 🙂
lets hope villa packed the headache tablets for gabby and a mob lock app for lescott. for the trip to stoke. so unprofessional actions by villa players. ex captains of the club. plus so called fans of the clubs too.
stoke 4 villa NIL
Lescott captain after admitting he wasn’t committed against Liverpool!!!!!
Bacuna still picked despite offering nothing in the last however many games!!!!
At least give 1 or 2 of the kids a game!! For the first time I am beginning to lose faith in Garde.
Lost faith in the club long time ago.. Stoke to win 3-0
Mark Bunn
Leandro Bacuna
Aly Cissokho
Alan Hutton
Joleon Lescott
Jores Okore
Carles Gil
Idrissa Gueye
Jordan Veretout
Ashley Westwood
Gabriel Agbonlahor
Have we ever had a line-up that looked so, so average?
only hutton in this line up will give his all. he will also demand his team mates to put in the effort too. but as badger says average team if ever we seen one.
after last week I can not believe bacuna is playing.
Nath
Problem with Hutton playing you can drive a train down our righside ,17 goals conceded from there when he plays ,Richards not near as bad remi clueless
Like some of you I’m also a bit disappointed in the line up and in Garde. If we’re going to lose we might as well lose with some spirit.
Someone please tell Remi that if you keep doing the same things, you’ll keep getting the same results.
Then again perhaps he’s given up too.
Whatever team we put out we will be disappointed. How is the game going.
So-so
Lescott playing well, also Abonglahor Garna booked again. half time 0-0 Hutton booked time waisting.
Goal Stoke
1-0 pen to Stoke
Why am I not surprised?
Stoke 2 Villa 0
Flood gates opened. I can’t wait until this season over. We are a disgrace.
@Dave 67
+1
Would it he stupid to sack Garde? He clearly has no idea by adopting the same formation, tactics and virtually the players every week, even when they’re terrible, I mean really really really bad, week in week out!!!
I hate the man, he has the option to tinker as clearly what he’s doing isn’t the answer, yet he won’t.
Bring back Lambert, at least he had us counter attacking with pace!!! 😉
BBC – Jason Roberts Former West Brom striker on Final Score
“That was one of the worst goals to concede we are ever going to see.
“Someone get there, someone show some desire. The thing was the reaction of the Villa players. No one showed any aggression or passion, it was just get the ball out of the net and get going.”
Enough said.
Obviously all saving their strength for when they go and pick up their pay packets.
Sack them all the team, Garde, the board, the owner, the coaches, the tea ladies, the ball boys. I’ve had enough.
You think everyone including the tea ladies should be sacked?
Fucking idiot!!
Well they do insist on serving PG tips when we all know its almost as bad as the footy served up!!
Hardly their fault they have to serve PG….Could be worse, could be Aldi’s own.
Yes it was said on TV worst goal they have ever seen , school play ground goal, Westwood is dire a right no no , Akora out of breath panting like an old man.
