Transfer Gossip Round Up

imageimageThe new season is just round the corner and we have had a few players in and are awaiting maybe one or two more.We have signed Phil Senderos,Joe Cole,Kieran Richardson and recently Aly Cissokho.
Senderos,Cole and Cissokho have all played at Champions League level which should bring a wealth of footballing know how to the team.
Roy Keane joining was met with mixed views but for me was a good addition to AVFC bringing in a man who is a winner at the highest level, who has managed, has guts and connections.Im all for Roy Keane and think Lambert and Keane will do well.
Now onto recent rumours of players linked with AVFC.
There is nothing concrete in these rumours so take them as you will.
There is a lot of talk of Carlos Sanchez the Columbian DM from Elche joining AVFC.It is not concrete but he is said to be joining at the latest Tuesday this is just talk so let’s see what happens.
Also another rumour is we have tabled a new bid for Ki which is a deal Roy Keane has had his hand in sorting out but we will have to wait and see on that one to.
Would love both in to strengthen the midfield which is in my opinion the main priority….utv

It emerged yesterday that Elche midfielder Carlos Sanchez may be a target for Aston Villa, and reports in Spain now say that he is to fly in for a medical this morning and sign a three-year contract after the clubs struck a deal. Elche are keen to bring in a replacement quickly and are thought to be in talks with Swansea City over Jose Canas.

Not sure how reliable this source is BUT if there is a 2M EUROS release clause.. this deal seems a no brainer to me.. get him in..!

Pete Colley from Sky Sports “confirms” (which was announced when? Thursday… Friday? By twitter) Villa are in talks to sign Sanchez.

The midfield and the manager’s tactics are the key. Any defence will crack if they are just putting in challenges on the edge of or inside their own box because the midfield is allowing the opposition to waltz through. We all think the Villa defence was crap last season, and that includes many on this blog who reckon Vlaar was good for one mistake leading to a goal every game. Yet the same Ron Vlaar did not allow Messi more than a half chance in 120 minutes. What was the difference? The Dutch defence only had 48% of the game at action stations because that was the total Argentine possession. Villa conceded 62 to 73% possession regularly thanks to an utterly lightweight midfield. The pressure that puts on the defence leads to cracks.

As others have said Keane will be bending Lambert’s ear if Villa seem content with similar stats this season. He won’t be. He will want them to defend in the style of his Man Utd side, in the opponent’s half.

    The Mail are now going with the Sanchez story;

    http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-close-colombian-star-7597867

£3.5 mill, but terms to be agreed.
Let’s hope that doesn’t prove to be a problem.
Will he come for 7 and 6 a week, two elastic bands and a half sucked gobstopper?

Only joking, I hope we get him.

Optimists on this blog please note you should pick up a coupon before Saturday at Wm Hill and put a bet on Villa to finish in the HANDICAP top 3 at 18/1 to win 1/4 odds to place 1,2,3. Because any team that finishes 8-10 places higher than the bookies guess is a handicap blot.

Sky Sports still reporting deal agreed (for Sanchez) at £3.5m and now with player to agree terms and pass medical (10.13am this morning linked to Birmingham Mail article late last night). You pays your money and takes your choice!!!!
