Next season may not be a relegation battle as we may be in the Championship. Lerner has messed this up big time.

Adam, any insight as to who the two parties are?
I believe one is supposedly a Quatari consortium, but haven’t heard any more than that.

Potential bidders include American outfit the Phoenix Group plus a Qatari consortium, members of whom recently attended the Chelsea game.

Just googled The Phoenix Group and this is what came up –

The Phoenix Group is one of the largest providers of insurance services in the United Kingdom. Headquarters: Saint Helier, Jersey

Is that the right Phoenix Group or is there another one from the states?

A Qatari consortium? i think we can safely assume that’s a consortium from Qatar and lets hope Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani is part of it , he’s worth 200 billion on his own.

I believe it’s an American Phoenix group, BWS.
I have serious doubts about them being interested, as they seemingly haven’t been involved in investing in sport for donkey’s years.

As for the Qatari consortium, they are supposed to have been at VP for the Chelsea game.
Are we really led to believe they were here to look at the Villa?
Much more likely that they were looking at Chelsea and how their owner does things, imo

Both fanciful notions, imo, but if the consortium rumour is true, surely they couldn’t have failed to be impressed by the beauty that is Villa Park?
Even my missus, who hates footy, loves the place 🙂

Whatever, as you suggest, Qatar = serious money.
          I live in hope.

Any deal now will either go one of two ways, imo.
It’ll either be a dirt cheap sale, based on the assumption that we’re going down.
Or it’ll be top dollar on the assumption that we’re staying up.

Looking at it from both a seller and buyer’s side of things, neither case is certain, so it’s guaranteed nothing will be happening soon.

            Hence, at the moment, it doesn’t really matter and I’m minded to agree with DSVilla’s comment;
Lerner’s messed this up, big time.

Either that, or he has bigger balls than me.

I’m also reminded of JD’s comments about karma.

No doubt it’ll all come out in the wash 🙂

Bill Gates is the richest man alive, well if he sold Microsoft he would be, at 76 Billion.

2.4 Billion is more than enough to own and run a good club. That’s over double what Lerner’s worth and he had no trouble putting money into the club for half a decade. We’re not getting someone worth 10b+…

Afternoon Bill, the one saving grace is I don’t think you’ll need 40 points this season so maybe there is some light at the end of the tunnel? But then again a team low on confidence, in the habit of losing, couldn’t buy a goal and that woeful goal difference…

I’m only being honest.

Will be watching game tonight on BT sports don’t think we have the players to get us out of jail Hitch, hate this uncertainty due to Lerner’s inability in owning a football club.

I won’t be watching or listening to the game. I’m going to do my best to totally ignore it and just get the final result at 9:45 or so.

After the season we’ve had my nerves just won’t stand it!

Its quite simple IMHO – heads we win, stay up and probably into the semis on Sunday – tails we lose and start digging out your road maps to Huddersfield and Rotherham etc.

In previous posts I’ve said we’ve already been relegated, its all done and dusted and so on but I find I’m still hoping.

Who’s got March in the Month of the Goal competition? Could be your lucky day!. Sherwood has just picked up his second “Brown Star” by declaring Delph could be a great captain. Strewth, even Lambert wasn’t fooled by Delph and found someone else for the armband. Delph is so slooow, he sucks the tempo out of any Villa forward move and allows out of position opponents to get back to their places.

Interesting sideshow on this blog. Is there a connection between being partial to watching vegetables on your allotment and having a season ticket at VP? Just asking.
