Villa 1-1 Bournemouth; Another two points dropped

It’s been a bit of an odd weekend, where a few things have all came together, resulting in me not being able to write a post or even reply to comments.

It’s my own fault. I decided to buy components for a computer to use in Spain, but thought “why use all these new goodies in a place that I won’t be frequenting as often as I’m at home?” Hence I made the decision to swap things into my home computer.

And as per, that’s where it all caused a load of issues. I’ve done this lots of times and I always manage to solve the problems, but they take loads of time and become all-consuming.

Hence I totally forgot about the game and missed the first half an hour!

Then combine the fact that the ultimate 4 letter word that is “work” has got in the way and it’s all been a bit hectic. It’s keeps the grey matter going though.

From what I did see, we played some scintillating footy at times, when attacking, but our defending left me still convinced that a certain someone (who I’m going to try not to name anymore, because even I’m beginning to feel that I’m naming him as a scapegoat) needs to be replaced.

That said, I thought Bourne were very good and totally achieved what they set out to do, which was stifle us, while still creating chances. It should be borne in mind that I’m sure I heard that the Cherrys have the 3rd highest shots in the league this season.

While a draw, on the face of it is a disappointing result, it reminded me more of a thought that had been crossing my mind, in that we seem to have turned into a big game side. Which is fine, if we can keep beating the top clubs, but I fear that won’t be the case.

It boils down to “how can you beat Bayern, yet not beat Bournemouth? Or Ipswich?

Of course, we always have the Premier league, where any result is possible, but I do wonder if we lack an edge when playing the “smaller” clubs. And of course, we can’t expect to win them all, no matter how much we would like to see it.

As some have said, it doesn’t feel like we’ve really got going yet, but as I type, Arse and Pool are drawing 2-2 and we’re 4th in the table. That’s nuts to me, but perhaps it says more about my fear of losing or more accurately, not winning.

We have pretty much the same record as Arsenal, who sit in third, so it’s all about perception, I suppose. If we really do get into our stride, you have to wonder how far we can go. I really ought to try and get away from always seeing the negative possibilties, I know. We’re in a good place.

But it’s difficult for me. At the end of the day, before the season started, this was a game we’d have expected to win at home (although I’m sure they have a good record against us?), so it’s two points dropped, simple as.

Where are all of those who said that we put our trust in Emery? Along with Pep’s Man City we went out and neither manager looked heartbroken.
Whether we like it or not, with so many games coming at us, Emery has to prioritise. If we get something from the Spurs game and beat Brugge then I guess all will be forgiven.
Plus points – both Mings and Kamara got 90 minutes and showed flashes of what they could do.
Minus points – players trying to prove themselves such as Philogene, Maatsen, Buendia and Bailey were all poor.
I’m sure that Emery has learned something about his squad and I’m sure that having to play an away midweek match against Arsenal during a busy December won’t cause him any sleepless nights.

Good shout Holte, Mings in my mind played a good part in the game
, if anyone needs to be called it’s Carlos . Mings was continually marshalling the back line and by the looks of it Carlos wasn’t paying attention. We still have weak players , they get easily pushed off the ball , as I said to play like that is a disgrace to football especially the fans . Yes we have too many games who do you blame for that ? They should let the fans know they are not interested so they make their own decisions on going to the match. I’d lay a bet that powers to be would think more about the games and play to win .

I see that Gerrard may be given the order of the boot again from his Saudi club with one fan calling him a ‘comedian’. He really doesn’t have a clue. If I was him I’d stick to punditry but, personally, I think he’s crap at that too.
Back on the telly again at 2 pm Sunday. I really feel that we might get something from this one. Although Spurs beat City in the cup, in reality they were playing against a load of kids who, if they had their shooting boots on, could have scored four or five.

That’s quite telling as the Saudi’s aren’t particularly known for their sense of humour or irony.
      Must be serious.

      Come on Newcastle!!!!!

With regard to cup runs some interesting facts from the ‘Let’s talk villa’ pod on YouTube.
If we won the League Cup we’d get £100k, the FA Cup £1million.
If we win a single Champions League game it’s £2.1 million which is 21 times than we’d get for winning the League Cup. It’s £11 million for top 16.
Then we wonder why Emery isn’t prioritising Cup runs.

Didn’t know that. Case closed. Thank you, 1874, for the one piece of information that puts the whole debate to bed. We can’t expect any club with ambition and finite resources to prioritise this in way. City won it 5 out of the last 10 years, which was always my argument before I learned that fact. But City don’t have finite resources.
I really want the club to win something. So it’ll have to be the PL or the CL. Onwards!

Forest 3rd – what is going on?

Having said that Nunes is showing what a good manager he is.

Not going to be easy for Villa this season.
