Villa – Chelsea Preview; I’m scared!

Or am I?

Let’s face it, after the shoeing we got from Arsenal last week, we’re not exactly favourites to win this one are we?
Many of us have predicted another hammering, with some even predicting double figure goals on Chelsea’s part.
I have a sneaky feeling that won’t happen though and there will only be a goal or two in it.
Not that I’m expecting us to win, because it really wouldn’t surprise me if we fail to score yet again.

What’ll be more important is if Lambert doesn’t attempt the same ridiculous tactics that he did last week.
And I don’t think he will, hence I don’t see that many goals.

Another capitulation, as we saw last week though, would surely have the fans calling for Lambert’s head.
Wouldn’t it?????
But even then, it’s possibly already too late for a change, a view that I suspect is exactly how the club’s hierarchy think. Lambert’s staying, whether we like it or not.

For me, the truth is I never expected anything from the Arsenal game or this one, so losing won’t quite be that much of a big deal. It was just the manner of last weeks defeat that wound me up so much.
That said, Jose has never beaten us at Villa Park and losing that record would be disappointing in yet another season of disappointment.

Squad news then and Vlaar has recovered from his knee injury.
Will he come straight back in? I’d expect so, personally.
I’d also expect Sinclair to start.
Joe Cole is fit again too and it’ll be interesting to see if he gets a start after last week’s midfield shambles. I personally don’t think he will, but I think Lambert might bring him on later, depending how the game’s going.

Chelsea have Fabregas fit again and Juan Cuadrado is expected to make his debut.
Costa is banned and Luis has a calf strain; not that it makes much difference with Chelsea’s squad.

Prediction?

1-2, with the hope that we can just get a goal.

I actually think that’s pretty optimistic!

Sanchez and Benteke rightly dropped. Well done Lambert for having the balls to drop players if they have a shocking game. They’re still probably two of our best players though!

No belief in the team IMHO. They expect to lose, and that’s what they will get. I expect us to lose against Hull as well. I don’t know if the owner will wake up to our dire position, but I expect it will be too late. The manager needs to be put out of our misery, never mind his own. God knows who would take the job who can have a positive effect but to do nothing in the face of this is criminal.

Lambert’s already said he expects nothing out of this game. Not sure that’s good sports psychology for getting the best out of your team! Not surprised we’ve conceded an early goal. I’d just be happy if we scored, even if we get smashed!

4… 4 players in the box on a corner, not one single player at the far post. What a joke.

If we do lose, that will be 3 points out of a possible 27 from our last 9 games! Yikes!

All I want is a goal. If they can get that monkey of their back before the next four crucial games. I would take a 7 – 1 defeat right now. Says it all really !

What will it take for Lambert to walk or be pushed?!

Probably a new owner. Lerner looks like he has decided to stick with a losing formula.

Biggest difference is it’s Droba up front. Guy’s not the quickest.

When will we understand we can’t play long crosses against Premier League teams? Baffles me how many times Hutton does it.

I know there’s a long way to go, but imaging if the Hull score stayed like this. QPR could snatch a home win, and Burnley wouldn’t find a home win tomorrow inconceivable. Second from bottom anyone???

Sunderland winning as well. Never mind lamberk getting sacked pellegrini could be next and rightly so

Harder for City to find a manager worthy of CL football right now than us finding a replacement for mid-table mediocrity.

Still a good player to bring if the bench when their defence is tiring. It’s only 1.0. I still fancy a 1.1 draw

We have Sinclair and Benteke on the bench. Both could potentially do some damage.

Far from over, if it wasn’t for last ditch efforts from Clark and 1 great tackle from Delph we’d be down again.

Man mark Hazard & Oscar I wrote before KO. First goal Oscar unmarked centres for Hazard unmarked to get in front of Hutton and score. Next on target Chelsea effort from Oscar unmarked.

Gil looking good going forward but various Chelsea thugs kicking lumps out of Gabby with no response from Ref. Courtois looks shaky under pressure so all is not lost – but Cleverly not doing enough to justify his position. HT.

I figured we’d lose, but it being close. Just wondering when Delph gets called an embarrassment or a disgrace for losing the ball on so many occasions. Only fair as Sanchez got the same treatment for last game.

Sinclair thinks he’s Gabby and going to beat Ivanovic for pace. Is that really the only thing he has is “try to kick it and go around them”? I knew he was bad by my word.
