Villa PR and why I’m fed up with it.

It seems we beat a mighty Mansfield Town second team today;

www.avfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10265~4013478,00.html

The trouble with this is, I couldn’t care less in the slightest and it really bugs me.
Surely Mansfield town should at best be seen as on a level with our academy kids? If the hype that we get spoon-fed about our academy kids is actually true, that is.
And would the squad playing against a load of kids normally warrant any kind of report? I doubt it.

I’m utterly bored with this type of stuff, which for me, can be summed up in “Okore had a run-out and didn’t collapse”. Same as for Unzog and his fabled injury (gardening leave, if like me, you don’t believe the BS), who should be well up for it, or totally pissed off (take your pick).
Which leads us back to Bent and Mutton.
Will they be willing to go balls out for the club after they’ve been right royally abandoned?
I doubt it, myself, but we’ll no doubt see.

I know the OS has to post something, but if this is as good as it gets in the closed season, we’re in trouble.

Show at least some ambition Villa and give us somthing to shout about, for god’s sake.
KI would be a minimum first signing, for me.
I don’t think he’s anything special, but he’s possibly better than anything we’ve got.
Which isn’t saying a lot.

Lamberk, less of the blatent insults please mate 😉

As for others, I do believe he’s a Villa fan.
You’d have to be dead sad to keep commenting on another club, for as long as he has, after all.

Me, I’m just sick to death of hearing nothing encouraging coming from any front whatsoever.

    Think about it.

We’re raving over KI, who, while he might be a decent player, quite simply isn’t a patch on what we were looking at a few years back. That’s an undeniable fact, imo.
To think we were linked to the likes of Wes Sneijder a while back, just goes to show.

We have a spend that Albion will easily outdo, even with their tightwad chairman in charge.

Season ticket sales are looking to be well down (judging by what I’m reading on all the blogs, not just here), hence making the situation worse.

And we have all the players being paid a proper Prem wage, that I personally don’t think give a fuck about the club, after the way they’ve been treated, thinking “fuck you, I’ll take the dough”.

    That’s where we’re at, simple.
And when you consider we NEVER get our bullshit biggest target signing, I’m not seeing what there is to be positive about.

But I am looking for positives, trust me. I just need convincing that there are some.

      Fair play Badger I apologise.
Totally agree with everything you say.
When the likes of West Brom and Leicester are spending £9m and £7m respectively, West Ham are splashing it, it is worrying when you consider that they will be the teams around us.
What have we spent? £600,000 and Lerner is prepared to risk our Premier League survival for a 5th consecutive season just so he can balance the books for a takeover that isn’t even close.
There is just no end in sight to this malaise that is supporting Aston Villa Football Club.

In all honestly though, they both spent that on strikers, Villa don’t need strikers, Villa already spent that on strikers. There’s even reports Lescott is now considerably unhappy at West Bromich after numerous failed signings. Brown couldn’t make it into the Nigeria Squad and was 3rd choice behind Riviere and Valencia. Fees don’t always tell the whole story.

Do u know what st sales are badger. Every year we are linked with a so called marquess signing last year Belhanda and Honda this year ki and lescott. It’s all bollocks just a pr stunt to sell season tickets. A classic Doug Ellis trick that Lerner has learnt from him. Like you say even ki is average yet still too good for us. It’s pointless fans supporting this club financially until Lerner goes ant that will be another year at least IMO. I don’t hold our much hope that who ever takes is over will be another yank who will keep us between 8th and 14th with the odd cup run thrown in. Wev missed the boat gate crashing top 4 we had a once in a lifetime chance a few years ago and MON totally fucked it up for us then had the audacity to walk out a few days before the season leaving us with his mess to clear up.

Sorry…I was optimistic before last seasons started, but my optimism stores are running extremely low this time around! We’ve fallen way behind the pack now after several terrible seasons. The top clubs are spending tens of millions on internationals in their prime and we are lucky if we get another club’s reject at the end of their career. Pretty bleak times for the Villa.

However, I will continue to support the team and pray that the players improve this season and fulfill their potential. I also pray that Roy Keane somehow breathes new life into the training regime, as it clearly wasn’t working last season and several players seemed to take a massive step backwards.

I’m personally happy to have Bent and N’Zogbia back in the running and think if we can get Okore fit it will be like having a new star player. Can’t say I’m relishing the prospect of having Hutton back in the reckoning, remembering how awful he was under McLeish. Not convinced with Senderos, but surely he can’t be as bad as Clarke and Baker! Joe Cole and Richardson are also probably improvements on what we already have in their positions. Hopefully Gardner will start to bloom. We live in hope!

None of us are happy shopping in the bargain basement but neither does spending £7 -£10m on a player necessarily (sic) represent good value. I’m no PL supporter but I also recognise that he has been operating under very restrictive terms imposed by our owner!
Unlike some, i actually think thet PL has been quite shrewd with his recnet signings – only time will tell and the bomb squad – welcome back and if PL can get hem playing for the Villa …. brilliant!
So, for now, I’m going to be positive about the upcoming season (unlike my son!) – The Villa is ours and we will survive.

Lamberk I never take it serious on writing words on forums, its knowing the person face to face that matters, OK back to Villa, Badger123 I don’t take any notice of us not buying top players, if the performance of our English clubs against foreign opposition is to go by, we are in the eyes of the world unrated, its getting the best of what you have that I’m after. We have changed our minds in tactics you can see that the way the clubs going, I’m ready to see if it works with the likes of Keane,Cole, and co, Oohah dont get me wrong, 6 games will tell me if it working or not, I’ve spent no money yet on the club, its wait and see for me.

I’ve just heard Fabio Borini is moving from Pool to Sunderland for £14 mill!!

Just goes to show, that’s the sort of money you have to spend for very average players.
I know this sort of money is just stupid, but that’s the way it is.

And sub £1mill players on the whole, just ain’t going to cut the mustard unless you’re lucky.
And Lambert doesn’t seem lucky, given most of his signings for us.

Oh well. 3 clubs signing high priced strikers that are no better than what we have. Not sure why people are freaking out. Sunderland barely escaped relegation with Borini on loan, using a large amount of their transfer budget on that player’s not gonna save them.

The price for Borini is crazy. I can’t see him as worth anything like that. I envy clubs who can spend that much but £6M for Remy looks a much better deal to me. As usual I’m getting sucked into feeling that this season will be better than the last few. CNZ and Cole should help creativity, Bent will score goals. Vlaar and Okore should help the defence with Richardson at LB a big improvement on what we have had in that position.
Maybe the likes of Tonev will contribute this year. Once we have Benteke and Kozak back we might be in decent shape.
Of course Vlaar might leave along with others, and Benteke and Kozak may not be able to return to form for a fair bit so I may be a bit over optimistic.
Anyway, still some time left in the window for things to go either way.
