Villa – Southampton Preview; Crunch time

I don’t know why I said that really, as it isn’t really crunch time is it?
Not in relegation or whatever crunch time anyway. But it is in a sense, because I get the feeling that this particular game might be season defining.
I mean, if we lose this, it just continues our abysmal form, something that would surely leave us low in confidence even though we have games coming up against erm, lesser competition.
Whereas if we could get a win, it would boost confidence at just the right time.

Unfortunately, I just don’t see us getting anything.
I looked at the league table yesterday.
Everton are around 6th in the league, but their goals against record is very similar to ours. Which to me says that the defence isn’t the major problem.
The massive difference though, is that they have have scored 22 goals, as opposed to our frankly pitiful and disgusting 5 goals. No prizes for guessing where our problems are then.

Same as usual, we have no creativity and even less threat in front of goal.
So what am I saying?

I think Lambert’s most likely option will be to try and park the bus, with us trying to nick one.
Which it seems is about all Lambert is capable of.
How that’s going to work, when our defence has been decimated, I don’t know.

I can’t see past a two or three goal defeat, simple as.

What will undoubtedly be more interesting than the footy itself, will be the crowd.
Will tonight be the night they finally turn?

I bloody well hope so , if we get spanked tonight , he has to go if we are to stand any chance of survival . We need a new manager with fresh ideas who can get the team going again and install some belief back in the boys . Lambert out .

Have to agree. I have some sympathy for Lambert due to the constraints imposed by Lerner, and the loss of Benteke and Kozak, but the dreadful football and lack of any plan B has sucked all the life and optimism out of me. I am almost wanting us to get thumped to force Lerner’s hand, but I don’t have any faith it would bring anything other than more disaster in the next manager appointment.

I hope so. A repeat of Crowd vs. McLeish at the Bolton (?) game is what is needed tonight. Win, lose or draw.

Lambert has no other options. Unless he’s the dumbest person on earth and played Lowton there, he has no other option but to play Okore and isn’t actually listening to us.

N’Zogbia is bloody useless. Gabby should’ve put it in the box instead of giving it to N’Zogbia who as per usual loses it.

Winning tonight will achieve NOTHING. just keep that prat in a job. Grow up. Better to lose and give ANYONE else a go. Saints can do use a massive favour by beating us tonight.

Lol. False position, how the fuck did we know that crappy line was going to be fed to us. We’ve worked our nuts off and cut out their dangerous areas brilliantly. Credit where its due please.
Soton will prob score though and maybe still win.

£200 on a 2-0 Villa win tonight would net £6600. Wonder if anyone went for it?????
Why has Bent come on for a midfielder?????

to give Saints a chance. Bent – just watch how pathetically slow he is in speed of thought as well as speed over the ground. He would not get in a Conference team.
